For those who develop resource packs for video games, what type of tileset do you think is most in demand by game developers and why?

I'd like to know what kind of products I should prioritize.

I’m a solo dev making an 8-directional action game in Godot as my college portfolio project (AI software engineering). My art skills are basic, so I need help with 8-direction character and monster sprites, as well as tiles (like castles, plants, chests, etc).
My budget is tight ($10–$20 per asset, possibly more for bigger work), but I credit all artists and want a polished, commercial-ready game. I get paid biweekly, so replies might be slow.
Art style: Think Tibia mixed with Darza’s Dominion. I’m looking for someone detail-oriented, open to blood/magic themes, and I prefer to use art as-is without edits.

I'm not an artist myself, but I have to improvise. I found out Oil-6 around one or two years ago when I had the idea for my game, Milkyway Mailing Inc..

The game is a space shooter and the colors on Oil-6 mathced perfectly the idea of a "Sun/Star" powered spaceship flying through the space. The contrast is great, even though most colors are pasteau you can achieve some meaningful color coding to provide the right kind of message to players. Look:

And it gets even better in motion, this is an early test of the game to keep track of updates, the dialogues are in PT-BR so please ignore them.

I got the palette on Lospec, of course. Back then, it was just published, so there were few references about what could be done with it. Now I see a lot of great art works TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT: https://lospec.com/palette-list/oil-6

Space ships

This is pixel art. With spaceships. This can be good for retro shmup. 

And idea is came from screenshots of Blade Eagle 3D for Sega Master System. It is 8 bit power game system. Well, it is just ok 8 bit console. Like NES. And Blade Eagle 3D is a typical space shmup. Space, aliens, spaceships, lots of shooting. 

First left space ship, i redraw from Blade Eagle 3D main hero spaceship. All other space ships, I draw by myself. Using my inagination, keeping some ideas of Blade Eagle 3D videogame. So, I guess, this art can be good for 8 bit style space shmup or MS DOS retro computer space shmup. 

And this squares are - stars. They are in style of Blade Eagle 3D. Stars like squares - simple and interesting solution for retro graphics.

I’m developing a narrative-driven interactive project in Ren’Py, with a stylized, animation-inspired art direction. The game blends psychological tension, mystery, dark humor, and expressive characters. The visual style leans toward bold silhouettes, theatrical moods, and emotionally charged expressions rather than realism.

About the project (no spoilers): The story follows a group of strangers trapped together in a closed environment. None of them know each other, yet each of them represents the peak of human achievement: brilliant, influential, or exceptional in their field. Soon they discover that everything is being recorded and broadcast live to the entire world. The purpose of this “program” is simple and cruel: to watch these supposedly exemplary individuals break down, lose control, and turn against one another as the pressure intensifies. The world watches their descent, and the characters must decide how far they’re willing to go to survive… or to remain human.

The narrative combines paranoia, manipulation, surreal tension, and dramatic, almost theatrical scenes. If you enjoy heavy atmosphere, expressive characters, and mood-driven storytelling, you might feel right at home. Who I’m looking for:

I’m a beginner developer working on my first full project, and I’m looking for artists who want to grow alongside me. Right now I’m finishing a new game, The Escape Masters. It’s a turn-based strategy game. I’m sharing some images here and I hope you can give me your opinion on what you see. I describe it like this: a turn-based strategy game where, to move the player’s character, you must use arrows and change their direction by tapping on them. The player’s character will first move to the selected arrow, and then to the square the arrow points to. The NPCs move in the same way, trying to catch the player’s character before they can reach the exit door.

There are five different stories, each with its own literary narration and cinematic. The gameplay mechanics are different in each level and adapt to the theme. For example, in the pirate story, the wind is a factor in the mechanics because it affects movement. In the archaeologist’s story, the board lights up according to the player’s position (three squares around), as if carrying a lantern and only able to see what is illuminated. And so, each story introduces a different mechanic.

I added a new artwork to the project! For this piece, I pushed the colors to be more vibrant and gave the scene a more lighthearted, playful mood. I really wanted the difference in personality between the two characters to stand out.

This piece is from a story segment in the game I’m working on. I’m experimenting with more comic-style storytelling, focusing on mood and character emotions. I had so much fun creating this scene — feels like exploring a whole new direction for me!

Hey everybody! It’s Joshawott. The creator of the megaman/pokemon fangame, Joshawott: The Power of Eevee. I am making a sequel for this game called, Thompig: Joshawott’s Reeveelution. This sequel will use the eeveelution types that GameFreak has yet to make, such as dragon, steel, poison, etc. but since they don’t exist yet, that’s where I will need help from you guys! That’s right. This is the chance to get YOUR creations in the game. This means when the sequel releases, you might see your own creations for Thompig to fight against as bosses in the game. I will be asking for one type every month, starting in January to give everyone a chance at this rare opportunity. 

Here are the official rules: 

REQUIRED:

1. A full 2D drawing of your eeveelution creation. This can be drawn using whichever drawing software you choose. (Pencil/Pen/Color drawings are acceptable)(NO AI DRAWINGS!!!)
2. A standing pixel sprite of your eeveelution creation. This will be used as a base for me to make its animations.
3. The pokemon type, it’s name and species name(ex. The _____ pokemon), and its evolution method. Make sure it is the same type as the one being asked for the month. (Try to be creative with the evolution method.)
4. Your name/username, you should be the original creator of the art. (People are sensitive about plagiarism!)(I would prefer your real name so I can give proper credit in the credits, but if you want to keep your real name private, your username will be acceptable.)

OPTIONAL:

1. A pokedex entry. Describe it like it would actually exist in a pokemon game. (Get creative!)
2. Other sprites besides the idle one. (Running, Jumping, or Attacking sprites)
3. It’s height and weight.

The following set includes numbered 50×50 px sprites for the following animations: Floating, Shoot Projectile, Projectile anim, Projectile HIT and Death (the one I liked the most).

We are making preparations for a new game, give us an assessment or help on what can be done or how to improve. We are not art artists, but rather experimentalists.

Essentially I have a little team going with an artist, composer, and I. The artist has a job, so he can only work after his job, so for the game to be completed in about a year, year and a half's time. So, I come here looking for a second artist / animator to help us out! You can be more than an animator as well, being a collaborator with everyone else, crafting the story, making superheroes, level design, etc. Whatever floats your boat. We are doing this out of passion, with a side incentive for pay, so this is a revshare project. 

Anyways, onwards to the actual game!

Welcome to 1st Issue (Logo lovingly made by the artist), an Action RPG trying to poke fun at and appreciate superheroes and comic culture.

Gameplay

The core gameplay is a combo-driven ARPG, where you can mix and match superpowers to create your ideal superhero. Fight against multiple villians, some quirky and others more serious. Work with mentors to learn new powers, and beat up those who oppose your heroic quest!

Story

Beacon, the most powerful superhero in the world, has successfully imprisoned every single villain, with the help of The Alliance of Heroes. With that, Beacon decided to leave earth to help other planets in need. In her absence, her rival Percival Powers breaks out every single villian. Everything goes to chaos, as the MC of the game has to put on the suit and take care of Beacon's rouge gallery.

Meanwhile, Night Lurker, Beacon's partner, is dealing with the reality of the chaos of when every villain is let loose, in a more serious and grounded subplot.

(Also, each Mentor has their own story! Think of it like a C plot that you unlock whenever you return to the hub to gain new powers, buy weapons, etc. Mentors are the other superheroes in this world. We've come up with some fun ones, but you can help us design more!)

Artstyle

You can kinda see the artstyle that we have for the game below, at least how characters will look. What we have planned is that when the game is serious, then it looks like a comic from the 80's - 90's (Think Watchmen). When gameplay is happening, or when something more goofy is happening, it's pixel art.

This is what we have so far. The UI is not done at all, let me clear. Very placeholder-ish. Alongside this doesn't show the animations we have. We've just been working a lot on game feel, getting basic animations made with our little rainbow guy, and coming up with the game in a GGD! And you can be a part of this too!
