First 3d

First time, in life, I give myself a try program Blender. And I have created row of a simple low polygonal objects. For example, table, chair, sword. Everything is consisting of several elements. This is first probe. I understand nothing about 3 dimensional objects. And all the time, I was thinking, it is hard, even in terms of simple things. But, doing it simple, in result is also easy. Right now, all objects are simple connected together different geometry figures. Plane, rectangles, cones.

Of course, I even not start to learn this program properly. So, now, it is without textures. Like Nintendo 64. But, objects filled with color, not texture – personally for me, looks interesting. In terms of lowpoly retro graphics. So, this is first attempt.

I'm a 2D artist for a WIP game called First Issue, a superhero comic book-inspired action RPG that allows for build customization.


We consist of a developer, composer, animator, and me (2D artist). Since we're all wearing different hats, it seems most appropriate for me to model the character.

I'm not a modeler though but we only need it to be low poly cause we're going to pixelate the animation to be about 96 x 96 pixels wide so I thought, "How hard can it be?"

It's hard, yo.



First, I didn't make a really informative model sheet since I didn't know what to portray.

I'm proud of what I have so far but willing to accept critiques and I don't know how to approach the legs while making it muscular and heroic?

Am I overthinking it?
Is there any video links for low-poly legs?

This is a self-promo post for Modddif, a tool I built over the past few months. I was seeing a lot of ads about AI products to generate 3D models but everytime I tested them, the results had a lot of texture artifacts and because the UV map was very messy, it was very hard to fix those problems. In the end, just fixing the texture problems was taking longer than just modeling and texturing from scratch. That's why I built Modddif!

Modddif is a webapp tool available for free that you can use to fix those messy AI-generated 3D models. It can also be used to work on 3D scans, which have a lot of the same challenges as AI-generated 3D models (bad topology, messy UV map). You can use Modddif to quickly fix your model texture and some geometry artifacts. You can also use Modddif to generate 3D from an image with an AI model, with results similar to what other services are doing, but now you can iterate on fixing those problems!

My goal with Modddif is to explore ways we can actually use AI generated models in a real production workflow, and not just as a shiny toy.

About the Project

Devil’s Legacy is an ambitious psychological 3D indie horror focused on deep storytelling, immersive atmosphere, and emotional impact — not cheap jumpscares.
Our goal is to create a horror experience that frightens the player through sound design, music, and psychological tension, constantly building a sense of unease and uncertainty.

The story combines strong narrative direction with exploration, symbolic elements, and mystery — inviting the player to question not only what’s real, but also their own perception. Every step forward draws them deeper into the character’s mind, where reality and guilt intertwine.

Gameplay-wise, the project features a mix of exploration, puzzle-solving, and atmospheric mechanics designed to immerse the player in both fear and curiosity.

We’re currently focusing on building and releasing a playable demo version that captures the essence of the full experience.
The first of the two demo locations is already fully blocked out and functional in its base form, and the entire project — including story, design documents, and gameplay structure — is fully written and planned out.

We already have a passionate and committed team of developers, designers, and sound artists who share a love for the psychological horror genre. However, to complete the demo and move forward faster, we’re looking to expand the team.

One large problem is finding references to practise our skills on.  Blender pros heavily recommend beginners use reference drawings to practise making models.  But almost all of these are realistic.  They're often tracings of photographs.  So, it's difficult to find abstract reference materials.

It's all for fun and our games are free and open-source but it's still a great way to expand your portfolio and learn more about team workflow in game development.

In our first collaboration experiment we made the game Spiritkeeper with 36 contributors in 4 weeks . Eventually we want to make a game with 100+ contributors. In the meantime our new challenge is to release a game every 3 days until Christmas.

We're still looking for more 3D Artists though, and if you like a fun but goal-oriented environment you can join us, no matter your skill level. Even if this would be your first game or group project. We had people join who were new to this and now some of them are already leading a small team.

Yes, it's an artificial intelligence tool for generating 3D models, but before getting into all that, let me give you a sneak peek, some evidence — because I walk the talk, haha...

From left to right, and then bottom to top:

I can't reveal yet what I'm going to do with them, and it's not even about spoilers — it's because I haven't properly defined the storyline yet.

The only thing I know is that, since I really like the character Frog from Chrono Trigger (SNES), I decided to include a village of frogs, a refuge away from the judgmental eyes of the rest of humanoid society.

Yes, I know a good modeler does exquisite work that can't be compared to automated results, but I'm a programmer, not an artist! And hiring a freelancer isn't cheap for me.

I could buy assets, it's true, but my experience with this tool — writing the prompt I want, the way I want, with the details I want — has left me quite satisfied.

By the way, I do have purchased assets, but sometimes what we want isn't even available for sale. Example: a female humanoid frog commoner (as in the picture). Maybe it's for sale now, haha, but when I looked last year, it wasn't. And if you want a ninja with a leopard's body, a horse's head, a fish's tail, and pink eyes, you're unlikely to find it for sale (or maybe you will, haha), but if you write that prompt, the tool will give you a model that, even if you don't love it, will have those characteristics.

Well, after not finding what I was looking for, I did some research and found this tool that's been a real lifesaver for me.

The models aren't perfect, but you can import them into Blender, make the necessary small adjustments, and fine-tune them your way — even without being an artist, just by moving vertices.

The texture is also created according to the prompt. Of course, you can open the file in GIMP/Photoshop and edit it; in fact, I'll do that because what I initially envisioned differs slightly in the details of each outfit. But even so, the texture is very good, with a level of detail and clarity that really impresses me.

Since I'm using the free plan (yes, I intend to upgrade to the pro plan at some point), I'm creating models little by little, month by month, because the free plan gives you 200 credits per month that aren't cumulative: if you don't use them, you won't have 400 the next month. But if you use them all, they'll be replenished the following month. Bonus credits (for publishing, reviewing, etc.) are cumulative.

You use real money to buy credits (via subscription), and you use credits to generate models.

It's not feasible for me to subscribe right now because I won't be diving into the project head-on anytime soon due to my new job. So, in a relaxed pace, I'm creating the assets, but we can help each other out.

If you sign up for the free plan using my link here (a pop-up might appear — don't be intimidated/afraid and feel free to allow it) and create any model, I get 100 bonus credits, and you get 100 bonus credits too. But you need to register and make at least one model. It's a way for you to start with about 300 credits, and it also helps me not to wait until next month.

I'll share another creation of mine that I really like — this one might even be the protagonist, still unnamed: 

Let me list the advantages I've found:

  • If I were to pay a freelancer to make all these models, I would have spent about $450, I think.
  • I can customize the prompt and get a model exactly how I want it.
  • When you input a prompt of what you want, it gives you four different options. You can choose one to texture or texture them all (as I did with the four guards).
  • It works in multiple languages; I'm Brazilian myself, but I noticed that if you write the prompt in English, the tool is a bit more accurate.
  • Time-saving: it takes minutes (not seconds) for everything to be ready. A fast freelancer takes 24 hours — at least that's what they told me on Fiverr.
  • You can share (internally among the tool's users or on their Discord in a specific channel) the models so others can use them too, earning you bonus credits in return.
  • The site is almost like a social network, where you follow and can be followed, getting to know works shared by other users and maybe using them in your project.

If you're not interested, just don't use it, but anyone who wants to try it out will be helping me a lot.

My name is Szymon Pajonk, and I’m the creator and narrative director of a game currently in development called Devil’s Legacy — a narrative psychological horror built around exploration, symbolism, guilt, redemption, and the seven deadly sins.

🧠 What is Devil’s Legacy?

Devil’s Legacy is a story-rich, single-player psychological horror game, combining the emotional depth of games like Silent Hill 2, the symbolic immersion of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and the environmental storytelling of Layers of Fear. The game is structured into seven acts, each based on one of the seven deadly sins, framed within a dark biblical narrative, family tragedy, and inner descent into madness.

You’ll explore a massive ancestral estate, solving puzzles, uncovering hidden truths, and surviving encounters with demons — all of which reflect internal psychological torment rather than classic horror tropes.

  • Heavy use of lighting, shadow, fog, and storytelling-through-environment

  • Think: Hellblade, The Medium, Silent Hill, The Evil Within – with a gothic European touch

We also have visual references, concept moodboards, and early AI-generated mockups to communicate tone and design goals clearly.

📅 Project Scope

We're currently focusing on building a vertical slice / prologue demo, which includes:

  • Several explorable rooms in the estate

  • Full scripted intro sequence

  • Puzzle-based environment interaction

  • Cutscenes and transitions

  • First demonic encounter (Act 1: Pride)

This demo will be used for publisher pitching, crowdfunding campaigns, and community building.

We estimate the prologue will take 4–6 months to fully complete with a stable core team.

💸 Compensation / Revenue Plan

Currently, this is an unpaid collaborationfor the demo phase only. We’re transparent about it.

However, once the demo is complete, we’ll:

  • Pitch the full game to publishers / investors

  • Launch a crowdfunding campaign if needed

  • Move to a paid production model once funding is secured

  • Offer revenue shares and/or future positions based on early contributions

Everyone will of course be credited, and I’ll personally ensure visibility of each artist’s contributions (ArtStation, portfolio showcases, feature callouts in the game’s credits).
