Damn getting damaged feels juicy! I think camera is too zoomed in, and UI doesn`t update my equipped weapon after selecting. This is definitely a cool take on in-game progression, i love forging some New Weapon (1) & New weapon (2) together)

Good job

I generally find twin stick shooters to be enjoyable, and I enjoyed y'all's game but I seem to keep softlocking the game after completing the first few levels? In all cases, thanks for making and sharing your game!

The cat must be fairly far in the game because I didn't notice it. The gameplay combining weapons is brilliant.  Music could use a little more variety but I have bias around that (see my webpage).  Also weapons could use some deeper visuals with more colors than just the few but I understand being in a hurry for a jam's constraints!

But the experience of actually playing was super pleasurable.  Good work!

Gave you an itch follow, if you like what you see on my page(s) consider doing the same.

Cheers!

Ahh, a floating cat head in a large jar serving as your advisor.  Fun times! :D This game have something different with the weapons for a top-down shooter and it's a nice change of pace with a bit of an old-school topdown Contra feel.  Overall, I think it need some polish and a bit more work, but it's off to a promising start.

Notes:

  • The Forge section needs a complete overhaul. It allows you to select 'everything' on-hand, even after already using it once and it does not use most of it anyway.
  • Whatever weapon is equipped does not show up on the main screen.
  • No pause button...
  • Restarting a game prevented me from being able to shoot a gun, leaving me a sitting duck for the swarms of level 6 enemies at level 1.  It took another death before I could do a proper reset and even then the enemy batch was still the ones at level 6.
  • Much of screen cannot be seen while moving around, making it difficult to aim and shoot at an enemy target.

Very cool concept for the gun-crafting! Loved the ability to forge and mutate the guns. I could see this being super interesting with even more unique traits & effects that you can blend together!

A couple note on the UI: At first I think I was clicking too much and some of my guns disappeared! Later on, I had so many guns it was hard to track which one was the new forged gun. Could be nice to just add Mk. I, II, III... and so forth to show how many times the gun has been forged? Not sure how that would work if you forged a Mk. I with a Mk. IV... so maybe that's not gonna work either. Other technical notes: the camera movement was a little disorienting. It seemed to track to my mouse position if I was centered in the battlefield. When I moved to the outer perimeter, my camera got panned way out and was hard to see where enemies were located.

Overall, it was a fun survivor game with a unique meta mechanism. The pixel art for the guns was also really cool! Great job
