Great concept for the main mechanic!
The music fits really well with the art and the gameplay, the jump sound seems to be a bit loud or harsh I guess which I think could be turned down.
In terms of the gameplay, the reset could be faster so as not to make the player wait if they died, I also wonder how the puzzles could be made different if while placing the platform the player could still move. Other than that I do agree that the scaling of the platforms seemed to be regularly most useful at its maximum size, with not many occasions where a smaller platform would prove more useful.
Neat execution of the game tho!! Best wishes with post-jam updates if you plan on it!
Some of the points you said are the main changes I plan to bring on my game after the jam. Thanks for pointing them out. I realize I need to get my level design more appropriate so the scaling can be useful.
I didn't realise the sound was a bit harsh, I don't think anybody pointed that out for me and I'll keep that in mind now.
Thanks for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.
Neat then don't mind me :)! Best wishes on the update! And it could just be me honestly, I just felt it was a bit rough on my ears over time.
I loved viewfinder, this seems like a very obvious spin-off. I think the scaling is a bit of an afterthought personally, but the base mechanic is good. I think the style of the game is a bit odd too, if you're taking snapshots, you should at least have a camera with you, or something.
But otherwise, it's a great idea, hopefully you can build upon it.
The game is basically a dream, so the viewfinder ability here is manipulating the dream world, so not exactly a camera.
But yes, thanks for the feedback and glad you liked it.
Really nice mechanic!
Neat game there :) Great atmosphere combining all the different assets. Tighten up the controls and you've got a decent game there!
Really cool mechanic, loved the music. My general advice would be to make the editing of the snapshot platforms a little less restrictive, by which I mean, letting the player rotate and change size in any order and at anytime before clicking to place the platform; also it would have been nice to have stuff that required taking a snapshot from something other than the floor.
It's a neat platformer, but I wish the ideas had been developed more. There was rarely any reason to make my platforms any size other than max size, and I didn't see any reason to take snapshots of anything other than a floor. So the whole snapshot-taking process felt somewhat superfluous since I was taking the same picture every time.
Such a creative Idea, really enjoyed it and want to play more. Maybe it would be better if you make the loading a little faster and there is no need for the clouds every time we die. Other than that, it was great and one of the best so far, Especially in terms of gameplay and idea.
Awesome jam entry - it's like a 2D Viewfinder! Loved the art direction and overall vibe, plus the puzzles were solid! I played on hard mode and still managed to make it to the end with extra snapshots on each puzzle, but honestly going too far that way is def better for a game jam anyway. Good stuff, would love to see this expanded even further!
Great idea and execution. Graphics are neat. Maybe a little bit to easy at the end but still very solid game. Great work!
Love the style and feeling of the game. Easily my top 5 in this jam
The Core mechanic is very neat. The game is polished and decent art and music is great. The thing that stood out to me the most was the story. I love this type of Fantasy/Medieval stories told in this way. And the writing was very Awesome. I think the levels a re a bit easy so complex level design as you progress will help. Awesome Game nonetheless
LMAO the mechanic is quite fun, rotating stuff and placing it the way you want gives so much way to play the game is so interesting i like it a lot !
