How does your game fit the theme?
An attempt at using a Roguelike/Clicker/Tower-Defence mash-up to satirise the Capitalist economic feedback loop enabling the rich to get richer, keeping all but the very lucky (e.g. Born into wealth, lottery etc) out.

Although i ran out of time and wasnt able to get it working as intended, and doesnt have most of the content (threats, tiles and route) or interactions i'd planned, im uploading it anyway. Imagine it actually matters which tiles you place where and there there are more synergies and risk reward tactics for placement postions..

Thanks for giving it a go anyway. Maybe give me a follow on itch or YT, i'm working on a multiplayer coop 3D roguelike Cat collection/rescue game on steam (Store page not up yet...)

I admire the ambition. Unfortunately, I couldn't really figure out how to play. I'd suggest adding a tutorial of some kind after the jam is over.

I looove retro styling!

I dindnt figure it out right away, but gameplay loop is cool! I could imagine myself playing the full version for a few hours straight

This looks like the start of something great. Unfortunatly that 4 day deadline gets the best of us all and it's a little hard to play in the current state. Still I see the vibe you were going for and, with a little more time in the over, I can imagine this being really good!

I see the potential, looking forward to the full thing!

Liked the game especially the art style. There was this bug for me where if you place something on the 4th from the top 6th from the left tile it disappears. Great game regardless.

I couldn't read any of the writing since it was so small and couldn't figure a out a way to make it bigger and I feel like I didn't really understand what was going on because of that. A bit more of an explanation as to how the game actually works would have gone a long way

Developer

Very fair. All good points, i would love to have added that and more if i could (was busy Saturday and Sunday unfortunately so only had Thursday and Friday to put it together). Thanks for giving it a go anyway :)

I can see that this is a cool concept, but since I'm not that familiar with this genre myself, I feel this was a bit too esoteric for me and I didn't really know what I was doing lol.

Developer

Haha yeah thats totally fair enough, i think i went too conceptual with it tbh, even if i had time to add the content i wanted (+ some tutorial and feedback and UX stuff etc) it still would have been too esoteric. I appreciate you seeing the idea despite the gameplay shortcomings :D

Oh, no! I tried to dominate the economy but instead got bankrupt. Good job!

REally cool idea although some incomplete parts it is still a fun experience

Even though you didn't finish it I still liked it. It's a good satire especially when the landlords keep making me bankrupt. Good job!

Developer

haha thanks, appreciate the kind words <3

Absolutely loved the game,  it's exactly my type of genre. I'm a huge fan of tower defense games, and this really scratched that itch in a fresh, creative way. The mash-up of roguelike, clicker mechanics, and tower defense felt super original, and honestly reminded me a bit of Bloons Tower Defense, which is one of my all-time favorites. The twist of being able to move your towers when the path shifts was such a smart design decision, it added a fun strategic layer I wasn’t expecting.

Even though it’s still a work in progress, I could clearly see the vision behind it. The satire of capitalism was clever and gave the game a unique narrative flavor that’s rare in this genre. I found myself really engaged, trying to make the best of every turn and reacting quickly when things changed.

There were definitely a few bugs here and there, but honestly, that didn’t bother me at all. The core concept was so interesting that it kept me hooked regardless. It’s impressive what you managed to put together in such a short amount of time. The aesthetic was also spot-on, that old desktop UI look gave it a quirky, nostalgic charm that worked surprisingly well with the theme.

I really hope you continue development on this. There's a ton of potential here, and with more time to flesh out mechanics like the threats, synergies, and placements, I could see this being something special. Consider me a fan, already looking forward to your cat rescue roguelike too!

Love the concept and setting. Great audio work too. Wouldve loved to see the finished game but you did very well with the short time you had! I saw the vision!

I was able to get to quarter 7, but my side hussles, drop shipping and infinite lemonade stands just couldn’t bear the pressure of infinite growth capitalism. RIP.

It took me a couple of loops of failing on quarter 2 to understand sorta how the game worked. All of the negative dollar pressure events at the top were a little hard for me to understand, so I just generally spammed all of the big dollar go up things after establishing some basic economy in the beginning.

Neat little concept, sad you didn’t get to your goal, but I think it was still a nice result with what you made!

Developer

Haha thanks Profour! yeah was sort of hoping to have it so that you almost couldnt get past Q2 unless you get lucky in Q1, to try and make some kinda point lol. sucks i was busy this weekend, but what can ya do. Glad you liked the concept, thanks for checking it out. I went and gave your game a go, holy crap that was good haha, incredible job, given you a follow, cant wait to see what you do next! (hopefully carry on fleshing out trainsaw 🤞)

although i couldn't figure it out i really liked the concept and the windows 98 aesthetic.

Developer

Haha thanks, appreciate it. Unfortunately didn't have enough free time this weekend to get it to a playable state, but worked on it enough that I figured I should upload anyway. Thanks for give it a shot though 😁
