Restarting frequently but keeping you coins across loops is a good idea, and for the most part you executed it well. The art was good and the background looked great. I particularly liked the effect of the pieces of the tower coming back together.

Where I think this game suffers is that it's slow for a game jam. It takes a while to get some money going, it takes a while to get to new waves, it takes a while for a lot of things, and in a game jam people are less willing to spend a bunch of time playing one game. A button to speed up the game would help immensely overall, as well as making it more jam friendly. The only other design element that I'd change is that it wasn't clear what a lot of the icons meant. Damage and money were clear right away, and I figured out projectile speed, but otherwise I wasn't sure what they meant. Stick a couple bits of text next to them and you should be good.

Overall it's a relatively strong design if you just tweak those two points, and I enjoyed checking it out. Thanks for making a game.

I agree 100% I think it comes down to not playtesting enough and leaving balancing to literally the last couple of hours, but these are great lessons I can take foreword with me into new jams and games! Thanks so much for the honest feedback and taking the time to play the game.

I had a lot of fun once getting to the upgrades! I feel if there was a speed option it would be even better! Keep up the good work!

Developer

Yeah a speed up option was considered but we already had so much to do and already cutting content so defo over scoped a little :D

Glad you enjoyed it once over the hump though!

Very solid game! A bit tough in the beginning but once you start stacking up i find you get through decently easy, overall very fun and hope to see more

Thanks for playing!

Managed to beat wave 30 with a couple of chrono lockets, scythe and a bola. I like these slightly idle games so I had a lot of fun. I do think the early game is a bit grindy though and some of the paths in the shop (like the damage and attack speed) don't seem as useful. Good job!

Developer

Oh wow thanks so much for grinding it out! I didn't actually know if it would be possible as I didn't get the time to balance hence why it's probs so slow to start with but I'm so glad you spent so much time with it! Defo checking out your submission next!

The robust item system was super cool, but it takes so long to get your first one! I wish there was something to do during the waves - like maybe I should be able to click on the enemies to deal extra damage?

Developer

Thanks for playing and yeah it is quite the grind, defo should've sped it up a bit, but that's a great idea and I'll defo be stealing it :D
