Ranked from 29 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
In Cookie Clamber, you're under pressure to find the fastest route to get all the cookies (biscuits) before time runs out. The faster routes are harder and the risk of falling can tank a run. Do your best and savor victory before you're inevitably grounded for destroying the kitchen.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Fonts, music, icons, and SFX were all licensed from CC0/OFL packs. One model (arrow) was also licensed from a CC0 pack. All other assets were made during the jam. See the game's credits for more details.

The FPS control script and some minor support code were borrowed from my past projects but heavily modified during the jam. Everything else was purpose-built during the jam.

This is one of the most polished games I’ve played in this game jam — it feels like you accounted for almost everything perfectly. The gameplay is fun, the music is fun, and the art style is really charming. I really enjoyed it :)

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Now that was a great game. Really simple but challenging and quite enjoyable. The music was fast paced and had me bobbing along to it while frantically trying to stack and climb on boxes and drawers. You did a great job allowing different bits of scenery, like the drawers, to be combined to reach somewhere that seemed like it was out of reach. The timer ticking down made you feel the pressure but it all felt well paced, even though I didn't actually manage to complete the whole level!

I think that might be the most fun I've had playing a game this jam. Great job!

Developer

Wow, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I had originally planned for a lot more interactivity with a whole house full of items to explore but that was way too optimistic for the timeframe.

Super solid entry! It was very exciting to perfect the path. The game looks good, sounds good and feels good to play, has settings, high score, lots of work went into it. Simple concept, great execution. Very well done!

This was my score after figuring out all the cookies:

Developer

Thanks for playing and congrats on the score! I'm glad you were able to find a path to all of them!

good visual and movement

Oh like the look of this! The jumping feels great, and the level is well designed. Very polished little game. I got a score of 11420. I had fun figuring out how to get all cookies. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed!

This is the first jam I think I've spent more time on level design than anything else so it's good to hear it was time well spent!

This is a really good idea. This would match the theme less but if you were to push this into a full game I would have the timer count up instead of down. That way the player can just enjoy figuring out all the ways to get to the cookies and keep replaying to get the fastest time. I would keep going with this.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

A couple others suggested that as well and I definitely agree. I've got another first-person physics-based game in-mind and more jams planned this year so I don't know that I'll revisit this specifically but hopefully those ideas will hit the same points.

These games where you interact with objects and move them to achieve goals are so much fun! Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad others enjoy this style of game!

Fun, fast paced, retro look and sound. Probably a great game for speed runners to determine the optimal way to get each cookie. Nicely done! Love the opening drawers and the small details like the flunked assignment stuck to the fridge.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

So far, the best time I could manage is 00:48:66 and I think there's still room for improvement!

Nice!

So glad I'm not the only one who made a climbing game. Very Different in styles so cool to see your interpretation of it. Hope to see more! Very Cool

Developer

That's awesome! I tried your game as well and it was really fun, thanks for checking mine out!

It's funny how almost everyone themed their games after cookies but created every genre possible. This jam has simultaneously had the most consistent theming and widest variety of any I've been in

The visuals on this are insane! Loved the vibes and the gameplay feels so fun too. Many ways of reaching each cookie. Feels so permissive with the intent of the player. Had so much fun playing this one. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I had wanted to do a bit more with the visuals like more textures and set dressing but I'm glad what made it in is landing for people!

Loved the style, and the gameplay, although simple, allows for a ton of creativity from the player. Great game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Hi

Nice to see you again, I played your game in Kenneys Jam.
Your style is consistent and I can tell this is a game made by you.

The catapult with weight is a bit clunky and it fell rather easily, some of the farther ones I could not get to.

But I really liked the concept, the interactivity

You also told me about 3d Gridmaps on my game in Kenneys Jam and I made use of it and saved a lot of time this jam. Thanks!

Developer

Oh hey! Thanks for playing and I'm glad the Gridmaps worked well for you!

I'm working my way towards recreating PS2 style graphics but for now the SuperFX/N64/PSX style is a lot easier to manage in jams.

Funnily, that wasn't meant to be a catapult but I totally see why it comes off that way haha. I had a ton of trouble conveying what I intended there. I actually meant for players to put a box on the tip of the ironing board and jump off it as a shortcut to get the cookie on the shelf. The iron was just there to stop the board from falling with a box on it. Having the iron and board be moveable probably didn't help convey that but generally I think more time introducing the mechanics in smaller levels might have helped.

This was super fun! Seeing the timer count down while I was trying to get all the cookies put me on edge. The visuals also look great. I love PSX-inspired stuff. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I'm glad people are liking the retro visuals, they're a lot easier to make on a deadline haha

The 3D pixel style visuals are great and the game reminds me of Toy Story 2 game, really cool idea

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the visuals!

This was soooo cool! I loved the music & the gameplay. Great stuff.

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!

This was a very nice game! I loved the background music and it engaged me into getting all the cookies. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I've used Abstraction's music in a few jams and they've actually got their own submission to Brackey's too: https://itch.freezing.top/jam/brackeys-14/rate/3844731

I was really fun! I love to play some build-your-own-platform platformer games. The item control is a little wonky but that doesn't ruin the experience. Love the environmental interactions. I didn't expect myself to jump up Mario style when I touch the stoves.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it!

So the original idea for the stove was that you'd need to build a bridge across it to get to the other side but I couldn't find a way to design the level that wouldn't make it too easy to just go around it. I was running out of time so I just figured I'd lean into the cartoonish aspect and have it launch you but I can definitely see why that's not obvious.

Agreed on the items - I was trying to avoid the player holding an actual physics object since I've never been able to get that to work so I faked it with an Area node but AFAIK there is no way to do collision resolution with those so I had to cobble something together with raycasts. It sort of works but it only detects collisions in one direction so it doesn't always do what you'd want when you're close to two surfaces.

Great game! Fun to play, addicting, and satisfying. Controls felt nice. Sensitivity was good, no need to change.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! Glad to hear the default sensitivity was good too!

Submitted(+1)

Love the graphics in this, and the music, but I might be biased :P Fun concept messing with physics to make a jumping puzzle.

I wasn't able to get a lot of cookies, but it was fun throwing things around and trying to get 'em!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you had fun messing with the physics! I was using this as sort of a test for a bigger physics sandbox game I've been wanting to do for a while now.

I really loved the game! it took me a minute to figure out what was going on, but once i got the gest of it, I really enjoyed the game! love the N64 feel!!!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out and I'm glad you enjoyed the style!

Was there anything in particular that stood out as not being clear in the start? I found in playtesting that puzzles weren't getting conveyed as I'd hoped but couldn't quite figure out how to improve them. I'm hoping I can learn from the jam feedback what was missing to really make things click for people.
