How does the game fit the theme?
Protocol: Shutdown embraces the ‘Risk it for the Biscuit’ theme, forcing players to gamble their safety to save a console. Abandon weapons in search of something better, but every risk comes with no guarantees.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used a few stock sound effects but aside from that everything is created from scratch specifically for this game jam!

I really like how the weapons feel when shooting. I think the hitboxes could be slightly smaller (many bullets wasted cause it looked like it wouldn't hit obstacles) and the weapon doesn't really point to the mouse cursor. Everything else was great, really liked the atmosphere!

I like the setting. Nice, sprawling level design to get lost into, and enough weapon variety to keep them feeling interesting. I had an issue with sounds occasionally not playing, but otherwise the game was smooth.

I really liked the art and music, I didnt grasp the whats goin on until later that i can kill with my knife (my gun was lost) I think the intro is a bit long, Overall Great work mate!

I really like aesthetics, it looks like Enter the Gungeon but in Game Boy. Having every weapon unique finishing move is cool and I love weapon knockback as well. Good game, nice job.

Fun game, really cool enemy attacks and love the gun knockback. I found it a bit hard to tell if I was doing any damage with the knife since enemies didn't feel very affected (no pushback), but it provided more incentive to pick up a gun :)

Cool, visuals and sounds are great. Combat is really good too, I just would recommend a damage feedback if you're planning an update. Gameplay is pretty good and the map is huge, excelent job!

Fun game! The music is great!

ıf you get a chance, we’d love your feedback on our mining game, where you can risk your money to try and earn even more!

The game feels very well-made. I don’t usually play fast-paced games, but I enjoyed how you made the enemies move in a dynamic and unexpected manner. This felt very cool. The visuals are super awesome too. I died without making too much progress, though. Is there a way to restore HP?

I love the abandoned tech vibe of the game. I also LOVE the UI, its obvious a lot of effort was put into it!

Submitted(+1)

really fun and amazing visuals that UI is perfect

Developer

thanks so much, the UI was such a pain to set up so I’m glad you like it!

Submitted(+1)

is your game unity if so do you mind telling me how you scale it correctly because the UI in my game doesn't scale to screens and idk how to fix i

Developer

I’ll DM @lunavia who did it

thanks :)

Developer

all your canvases in your game should be set to "Scale With Screen Size" then in the project settings, under the player bit, set your screen size for your build. Then make sure all your elements on your canvas are anchored so that they dont scale incorrectly. I hope this helps !!

I'll try it thank you :)

Very well made game! I love the feedback/recoil of the weapons, got bolted so hard one time, when u get swarmed it can get pretty hard, but once u learn the map u can beat the game easy, fun! : ) It needs more audio as otherwise the background music can get pretty annoying~

Developer(+1)

thank you so much !! the audio and maybe diversity with bg music is definitely a note for next to focus more on !

Visuals and audio are good. Gameplay is classic and smooth! When the game restarts after dying, I cant seem to click on any buttons. Not sure if it is intended. I enjoyed the game!

Developer

ahh that must be a bug, i think its something to do with the custom cursor position resetting so you might have to aim a little bit lower than the button to click play !!
