THIS MONTH, THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO WIN! CHECK OUT THE 'PRIZES' SECTION!

This jam occurs on the last weekend of every month on Itch.io and aims to be a fun activity for all game devs to challenge themselves and have fun over a short space of time! It’s beginner-friendly and won’t take up a whole bunch of your time.

Join our online community of over 1500+ Jammers on our dedicated Discord server!

Theme>> The theme for this month's jam will be posted here when the jam starts. To get involved with theme culling & theme selection, join the Devs That Jam Discord server!

Voting>> At the end of the jam, a voting period will last until 10 pm BST on the following Wednesday. Your game will be rated on:

  • Experience: How interesting and fun the game is to play.
  • Theme: How well the submission incorporated the monthly theme.
  • Functionality: How readable and intuitive the game's mechanics are.
  • Visuals: How good the game looks. Does the art style match the gameplay?
  • Audio: How well audio is implemented within the game (SFX & Music)
  • Polish: How 'complete' the game feels. Does it have all aspects of a game?

This is a Submission & Contributor only vote.

Rules:

Read the DTJ rules here.[https://www.devsthatjam.co.uk/rules] Anyone who breaks the rules will be disqualified from the jam.

No NSFW content.  Graphic content and trigger warnings must be clearly labelled with a content warning at the start of the game as well as in its description or cover. Anything inappropriate will be disqualified.

FAQ:

Can I submit a game I made previously?

No. You can only submit a game created within the jam's timeframe.

Can I make changes to my submission during the voting period?

No. Submissions are locked during the voting period but are unlocked afterwards. If you need to update your game after submission, please reach out to a moderator via the DTJ Discord. Amended games will not be eligible for prizes.

Do I have to follow the theme?

No. Your game will still be rated, will not be eligible for prizes.

Can I use code and assets from my other jam submissions?

Yes, as long as you have the rights to use it. The DTJ 36-hour Jam isn't strict on the "build it from scratch" rule.

Do I have to upload my submission in a particular format?

We recommend you upload your game so it is playable in the itch.io web browser. However, a downloadable file also is fine, but your ratings may be lower. Some submissions may be bigger than itch.io's 1GB download limit - we recommend linking to a public Google Drive folder to work around this.

Do I retain the rights to my submission?

By submitting a project to this jam you are agreeing to have your game rated and commented on, and for your submission to be displayed on the DevsThatJam website and socials if you/your team are chosen as this month's winner(s)! The rights to the project remain your own. Submissions unlock after the rating period.

I couldn't submit on time, what do I do?

There will be an announcement on the DTJ discord server about how to submit late if you missed the deadline, so please make sure to join!

Support >> Please consider supporting Devs That Jam!

The DTJ36 game jams are free of charge with no entry fee.  Winners are rewarded with a small prize every month, which includes a Steam gift card and DTJ merchandise. As an individual game dev funding all of this, it can get quite expensive, so thank you so much for any support you can give!

Please consider supporting us via Ko-fi! This could be a one-off donation, a monthly donation or a merchandise purchase!  I am extremely grateful for the support, as each cup of coffee/merchandise sale adds to the yearly prize fund for the monthly DTJ36 jams, keeps the Discord server boosted, and the website up and running! Thank you! ~EggyBreadd
