Wow you spent a long time on the visuals here and it payed off! It was kinda hard and I only made it to level 5 but it's a really unique game! Really enjoyed it. And super polished for 4 days! Nice work!
Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!
I was a little bit iffy on the grid movement at first. After a couple of levels I came to appreciate the exact controls, though it still felt awkward to mix digital sideways movement with analog jumping; sometimes it felt like I had to mash the D-button to make a long jump to the side, which felt more like brute force than intentional gameplay.
Once the rooms started rotating it became a little bit too brainbusting for me to try and plan out a clever path, and it became more a game of "the floor is lava", simply trying to make it to the exit whilst touching as few tiles as possible, though I found that fun and I'm writing that up to skill-issue on my part. Ultimately it was still fun to try and solve the dumb situations I got myself stuck in without having to do a full reset (and on the note of resetting, thank you for only turning back to your last step if you messed up instead of resetting the whole level).
Tl;dr solid game, and it makes good use of the "do the same level several times"-idea without having the "Loop"-theme boil doing to a glorified reset button.
Glad you enjoyed. The grid movement was qite experimental, and was an attempt to make it more puzzly and less dependent on your platformer experience level. I agree it wasn't perfect. I must admit I also found it hard to keep track of surfaces across rotations but I decided to call that a tradeoff of the mind-bending-ness fun.
Appreciate the creativity here! My entry Doppelchain is up too—would love your thoughts if possible. Keep killing it!
this is a really nice execution of the concept. and I actually really enjoyed the grid movement! it's an interesting choice for a platformer but it works really well with the level design here, I'm a fan
Awesome! Glad it was fun!
Very clever and unique puzzle game, nice job! :)
Thank you!
Love the concept and very Creative! I was already impressed before lvl4, but lvl 4 was a bit mind bending and a lot less forgiving than the previous levels. I thought lvl 7 was easier than some of the previous levels.
The controls felt a bit weird and took some getting used to, but they were probably necessary for he gimmick although there might still be some room to tweak it to make it feel a bit better.
Great work! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks so much! Interestingly the first build had normal platformer controls and my playtesters felt like they were playing some kind of tehchnical platformer troll game rather than a puzzle game. And they got annoyed when they had to restart a level. Hence the rework.
Glad you enjoyed!
Really clever and creative concept with some standout levels—especially level 4. I loved the unique details like seeing yourself in certain places and the inventive use of orientation changes. The game offers a fresh and fun take on puzzle and platforming challenges, with a well-executed loopable level design that feels both engaging and rewarding. Overall, it’s a solid, thoughtfully designed game with a lot of potential.
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed!
Very clever concept. Especially level 4.
I understand the square-by-square movements, but it lacks maneuverability.
Yes, this was in attempt to make the game less about platformer prowess, for better or for worse. Glad you enjoyed though!
A much better concept than most of the submissions I saw. I love how you can see yourself in certain places, that's a very fun detail. I feel like this game has a lot of potential with better level design. Some of the levels felt more like a platforming challenge than a puzzle. Other than that it's a solid and thought-out concept
Absolutely agree. I spent a lot of time trying to make better "puzzles" but they always ended up being trivial.
Really good take on the loopable level idea! The puzzles feel a bit overwhelming when you get to stage four, but giving it a try shows just how actually simple they can be! The orientation changing is really creative, although it makes it a bit hard to predict what moves you should do. Awesome game!
Really fun interpretation, and I think well-realized too! Movement reminds me of maneuvering Tetris pieces. The way the levels twist is hard to wrap your head around, I was bewildered when I started to see text upside down. I think I was able to beat it by being careful with movement rather than planning a route or 'solving' them like puzzles.
