How does your game fit the theme?
We have our character stuck on a physical loop, a spider on its "round" web of silk that must be deformed to survive.

Took me a few tries, but I have to say that I really love this game lol.
At first, I was actually a little sad because while I thought the idea was cool, I didn't really have much of a reason to move the ends of the web for a while. Then I played more and realised that hearts could only be collected while moving on the web.
On one hand, I think this is a great idea to incentivise moving the web ends more and to really incentivise moving along them. However, it doesn't really make sense why you wouldn't be able to just collect the hearts by trying to jump through them. Basically I like some of the ideas behind this, but I think this isn't as intuitive as it could've been.
I think the visuals are fantastic and the pixel art is great. That said, I also think the fact that everything in the game effectively has the same colour pallete ( or more specifically, everything has the same combination of colours ) effects readability massively. Over time, all of the projectiles and insects an even the player character just started to blend together at points. This was especially detrimental since the projectiles are almost the same size as the mosquitos.
This also kinda made jumping at insects a little more harder than it really had to be. That said, I do love how you can attack insects this way, and being able to actually screenwarp also opens a lot of options for jumping either towards your web or the insects. Definitely helps in the case of the butterflies ( or maybe they're moths lol ? Not sure ).
I do think the game gets a little too chaotic as it goes on. Having 10 butterflies firing at once feels a little too unfair, even with screenwarping.
All in all, I think this was actually a pretty damn interesting and well done arcade game. Great stuff here
Wow, nice score! One thing we lacked the time to implement was slowing down time+stopping the spider shots while moving the web, which I think would help for waves with lots of moths typically (the moths were designed to force you to move the web, so it's currently a bit hard to handle them sometimes)
Setting your own possible movement path is something fresh—it really makes you want to see more of it. The only thing I was missing was some kind of indicator showing when I could jump again. Congratulations on your submission!
There is an indicator but it's located under the mouse cursor so not super visible at the moment, we'll look into it.
Now I see, I didn’t notice it in action! It’s enough once you know about it, thanks :)
Great depth with the wealth of controls given to the player! I find it amazing how much the sense of freedom of movement and limitation there is at the same time, it almost seems impossible, like a paradox! Lovely visuals too. All that and you also managed to design so many enemy types!
The only thing I wish was different is the progression. The aim is to survive the longest, but the enemies appear to spawn randomly and the intensity felt very random to me too. Likewise the heart spawns. Because of that on my subsequent plays I wasn't sure how much better have I played and how much lucky did I get. I think more scripted enemy spawning with intensity gradually hiking would make for a more satisfying gameplay to me.
I agree with the progression feeling too random, we had time to design waves seprately and order them depending on difficulty, however we didn't have time to test further. We weren't able to finetune the succession of waves and the way they are chosen, so if we ever go back to this game it's definitely something we'll look at. One thing worth noting is that some seemingly scary enemy waves can be trivialized by a well-aimed jump out of the web.
It's possible to jump out of the web!?
Of course I understand it's the jam scope that came in the way, in fact I am impressed by the degree of polish.
Such an interesting concept! Really enjoyed this take on the theme and was executed so well, great job!
Oooh I like that this allows you to discover different strategies and just be a little creative with your loop positioning. Fun take on the theme and great art to go with it. I got 217! Wished there was a way to have more than 3 hearts if you collect at full health. Congrats!
The art is so cool and that spider jump is FUN!!! Haha!!
This was lovely. I really like the "click and drag your field of play" idea.
Great game! I really love the Artstyle, even tho it sometime makes the action hard to read
but good idea and art style
My high scores 58. I tried
this is an incredible execution on a delightful concept! the controls are snappy and intuitive, and the gameplay is simple enough to figure out on your first playthrough. I admit I am not very good at these types of games, and I died quite a lot, but it was very fun nonetheless!
I wanted to use the “jump” mechanic more often (if only for the cute jumping sprite :3), but I rarely found a need to jump ~towards~ the thing I was shooting at, so I would need to pull my aim away to execute the jump before locking back in. If the button caused you to jump ~backwards~, maybe I would have used it more, I am not sure.
But honestly that is my only critique. Cute artstyle and fun gameplay; this was a delight to play!
Really cool! the game is simple but fun, i loved moving the little spider around, and shooting cobwebs at other bugs, and the art style is absolutely stunning, top notch.
i also liked the the game play is fast paced and even if you loose you can start again quickly.

Fun game! I love the minimal color palette. I could only survive something like 30 seconds though, I've gotta git gud :,)
179 high scores! Beat me! Haha, was fun, well done!
Simple but effective, totally in the theme! I didn't use the jump at first, but it's an awesome idea, really add to the gameplay!
The art is on point too!
really really fun game. Love the fast paced space management and the shooter as well. the jumping between the threads though i didn't use much except for a quick dodge. once again. really fun game.

Great game! I really like the unique movement paired with the shoot-em up gameplay
Really cool take on the theme and the art was incredible!
The web mechanic is a really cool gimmick for a game! I liked the retro artstyle. Well done!
It took me a while to understand I could drag around the points (my bad) but the idea is quite nice ! The visuals are simple but very well done. Managed to get 102 points!
