How does your game fit the theme?
The main interpretation of "loop" here is a respelling of "loupe" based in the English pronounciation, which means "magnifying glass". The stages in the game are also "looping" (wrapped around)

(Optional) What would you like to be called if GMTK features your game?
Ran d'Reille (Pronounced run-deh-rail)

Neat idea - dual mechanics like that are always really interesting. I feel like it would be fun with some action sequences? Anyway - well done!

Thanks!

The "Dual Mechanics", to be honest, is more like one is a backup mechanics. I always thought that "loop" for "magnifying glass" is spellt "loop", but when I was halfway done making the game, I found out that the magnifying glass "loop" is actually spellt differently as "loupe"... and so I put an actual "looping" mechanic as a backup to make sure I stay within the relevance of the theme.

Not sure about turning it into action sequence tho... I think it would make it into a completely different game... unless if you meant a stage where you need to be quick and precise with your movement and/or the timing of when to burn certain objects -- in that case I did think about it, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to design before the jam ended.

oh my God. what fun idea. I think you really loved to make fire with magnifying glass in childhood. its creative and fun nice job. I really enjoyed it

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting concept, I liked the warping effect in the magnifying glass!

That shader took me a while to figure out hahahah glad you like it

I didn't understand how it works tbh :)

Developer

How were you playing it?

Really unique idea! For me the burning sound effects were a bit jarring but otherwise a really fun game. I would've loved to play more levels and see what other mechanics you can think of!

Interpretation of the theme was really creative.
Puzzles were also pretty good.

Wow i played the game and the magnifying glass concept was very cool!! I dont know if it was a glitch or what but i when i put the oil on fire it formed a chain and burned the wood but the oil never got out of the way and i couldnt proceed. Great game tho overall!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

You cannot pass through oil when it is burning. You are supposed to pass through the oil BEFORE it burns. Hope this helps.

ohh okayy i se

I think the puzzle game is neat

It's a nice take on the theme, and the puzzles feels nice, however some variety on the fire sounds would feel better. Good job!

Great little game! The concept is really neat and I hope you expand upon it. One small thing I thought about in regards to sound design: randomizing the burning sound. Having the same exact sound repeated at the same pitch can make things slow, especially parts where you are waiting for things to burn. Just making that pitch random can give a lot more spirit to the vibe. Overall, I loved this and you did awesome!

Thanks! I didn't have much time this time so I only did the bare minimum, but I'm glad that it is enjoyable enough. Didn't even consider randomizing the sound haha and I could only make barebone levels (can probably design a more difficult one given enough time)
