How does your game fit the theme?
The player is trapped in a loop of rooms with multiple doors, and only one door leads forward. If they choose wrong, the level restarts — creating a gameplay loop of trial and error.

Very silly game it reminds me of cat mario a bit. The platforming feels very nice and the art is also cute. Good submission.

Great take on trial and error gameplay. Makes me think of that scene from Super Mario Bros movie with Mario trying to figure out which warp pipe to go through. Great music and gameplay. Fun entry!

Movement is great and art is super cute, although having to just keep guessing gets a little annoying

I liked the visuals & the sounds, great job completing a jam ! :D I think right now it's hard to feel engage with the game as you are missing a way to improve/outsmart it, basically you check every door until you're right and you don't feel like you've accomplished something when you do find it; I think if you had labels on every door, and some sort of story started to make sense and that's what you need to figure out ( for example you go to a hall, then go to kitchen, then go to toilet , etc. ) basically you start to try to understand what is it that your character is trying to do? or it could be a deduction game where each door says which door might be lying or not (check out the game Demon Bluff).. anyway many possibilities !

Nice movement feeling! We were struggling with achieving smooth movement in our game, but yours seems really good. If this is your first jam, it's a great job!

feels really responsive/good ;D art is nice, cohesive and looks neat/awesome! Great job

Developer

Thank you 😊

nice platformer movement! liked the artstyle and the music also very much. got too tideous tho for my liking. but either way very good experience.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback 😊

Great platforming feel! Though the game started to feel a tiny bit tedious as I felt like I was just checking every single door in order as the text gave no real indication of what was happening.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, the text in the game is really meant to be misleading :D The game is based on the player having to find the correct door that leads to the next level, the "fake" door leaves them in a loop. But after finishing the game jam, I have a few ideas in my head on how to make the game more fun, so hopefully I can make it happen.

Eyyy, nice first jam game!!!! I really love the art, and the movement feels good, which can be difficult to pull off with platformers. I think it would be neat if there was some expansion on the 'trial and error' aspects (doors that lead to different places, maybe more of a logic system to figuring out what door is right), but still, solid work for your first ever jam! Hope you had fun, and wish you luck with future things (:!

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback. I really enjoyed the game jam and I have to say I'm proud of myself for being able to finish it. I have more ideas in my head that I want to implement after the game jam. In the first of all, I plan to upload the game to make it playable directly from the itch io website so that you don't have to download it. I want it to be zoomable to full screen, and I also have in my mind some bonus rooms that would be behind “fake” doors. So hopefully I can make the game more fun.

Perfect! I might have chosen different music, but for the first game, for the first attempt, great job. It has everything - design, gameplay, at one moment excitement about the game, then a moment of annoyance when I entered the same door three times by my mistake. Great for me, beautiful work and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to continue with succes :)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback and kind words, I really appreciate it. It's true that I could have worked more with the music, but time was against me 😁 I definitely plan to keep working on the game after the game jam.

Good entry!
Nice platforming and level design

Developer

Thank you 😊

Nice and tight controls. I like the premise but it may need a couple more options to drift away from "Trial and Error" a bit. Beautiful Art! Hope you enjoyed the Jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes I enjoyed the game jam even though it was challenging and stressful for me. After the game jam I plan to improve the game and make it more fun, so hopefully it will work.

Very fun, good art style, the controls were fluid, good level design. A couple of things, I feel the music didn't fit, and while the idea is good, I think It needed another iteration, it feels like you only progress by trial and error, which I know it's intended, but I think there was potential for more. Congrats on your first Jam game, mine also was my first Jam game and I feel we tripped with the same rock haha

Thank you for your rating and feedback 😊

Love the idea and especially the artstyle you did a really good job!

Its a solid entry and everything works, in terms of feedback I wouldve add a confirmation for entering a door, its sometimes a bit anoying to run and accidentally touch another door and get teleported back. I had fun and it gave me scooby doo running through door vibes lol

Submitted(+1)

nice if this was really ur first game u should be proud of yourself, this is so good for a first game.

good job, hope u expand the idea of the game. overall it's a good game
Developer

Thank you very much, it took me a lot of energy, but I also learned a lot 😊

Submitted(+1)

I like the concept a lot, but it does need some extra things, I brainstormed real quick and came up with how I'd expand the game, make the world a bit more open, multiple levels are connected and they're all small rooms and some doors teleport you randomly, but you have spray paint so you can mark where you've been and what doors lead the wrong way but you've only got a limited amount of paint. Great work for a first game in another engine and jam, even if a lot of assets were used, they were used right, not many devs who use assets can say that so well done! And picking the door to replay or quit the game at the end was a very nice touch!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will definitely make a note of your idea with the spray, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to implement it 😁 Otherwise, I definitely have more to add to the game. I would like to add some rooms to the doors that don't lead to another level—something like a bonus room. I definitely want the game to be playable directly on the itch.io website, and I've also prepared the option to play in full screen. My work is definitely not done yet 😁

Submitted(+1)

Good attempt for your first ever jam game! I don’t really have any complaints about the actual implementation of the concept except perhaps that a full screen button would have been useful. The only issue is that the core idea doesn’t feel very fun. As far as I could understand, there was no logic to picking a door and you just had to check each one. But I’m sure you had bigger plans that were too much for the duration of a jam, so I won’t hold it against you. Great job submitting a completed game in any case!

Developer(+1)

Yes, the game is really about finding the right door, only one leads to the next level. I had bigger plans, so after the rating is over, I want to make the game available directly on the itch.io website. I would like to add door animations and also prepare some rooms that don't lead to the next level, but will be like a bonus level. I already have the full screen option ready. Thank you very much for your feedback

Submitted(+1)

The execution was really well done, did not expect a full pause menu with audio settings and so on. However, I feel like the gameplay was more about guessing that anything else

Developer

Yes, the game is really based on guessing which door will let you into the next level. I plan to develop the game further; I would like some of the "fake" doors to actually lead somewhere, e.g., to a bonus room, or something like that. I also definitely plan to add an animation of the door opening (hopefully I'll manage it). Thank you for your feedback, it's important to me 😊

Submitted(+1)

I don't know how you do it, but somehow you managed to make the correct doors ones I always pick last. Curses! :D

Great job on the first game jam. The visuals are super cute. I'd also recommend trying to use random pitch shifts on the sounds to give them more variety (for no additional cost or effort). The jumping one gets tedious quite fast.

It's my first game jam as well, and I am super proud of both of us!

Developer

Thank you very much for your review 😊 I have lots of plans for the game, and I hope I'll be able to implement them. I want to add door animations, and I want to make some of the "fake" doors more interesting by making them lead somewhere, like a bonus/secret room, etc. I have lots of ideas, but I didn't have much time to implement them 😁 I will definitely make a note of your suggestion and maybe implement it into the game in the future. Thanks again, I appreciate your feedback.
