Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
While making sales in the cafe, players must make the decision between being generous and giving to those in need or making their own quota to not get fired.

Very simple and fun.
I really like the little sounds and the background music, and of course the art is very nice.
I did find it quite confusing at the start, and I think that(even though there is an option to skip the start) it would be nice to skip individual texts.
Other than that, great job to everyone for the game!
(I didn't think I had given too many discounts (-‿-"))
I like that there are different endings depending on the choices made by the player, played through a couple times to get them. The visuals and atmosphere are fun, and the gameplay is simple yet enjoyable, even if doing the math calculations is a tad tedious. I did end up playing the game straight through w/o over or undercharging anyone with little thought otherwise, so I wish there was a bit more incentive to deviate. Thinking of games like Papers Please which do this very effectively. But for a three-week jam, this was still a fun game. Great work!
The arachnid is disrespectful of one’s time. Speech may be bound by time in the living realm, but in software it is convenient to assign an input which can advance dialog. Apart from this, the visual style is appealing, and the choice of a harpsichord for background entertainment is most excellent.
The boss being an arachnid was fun! Loved the tentacles and tadpoles too. The art is charming, the dialogues are relatable. I really appreciate the central conflict you have tried to create; although it didn't always strike me how much was at stake whenever I gave a discount; maybe because I could afford to doze off in front of the boss. Gameplay-wise, I did wonder about people who wouldn't enjoy doing math calculations, but it's right up my alley! The ending I got was satisfying and wholesome, so I am leaving this game with a smile.
Love the setting and vibe, nice job with the art!
Having an optional intro was a nice touch! It made it easy to jump in with a good understanding of what to do.
I had a lot of fun, and the mechanics were unique. It was nice seeing where I could overcharge/give a discount.
This game brought out the capitalist in me xD I can see where you guys are going with this concept! There's definitely something here, although I'm not sure how I feel about the premise and the cozy Lovecraft as it's shown.

The main conflict, which is being generous or not getting fired, is not sold to me emotionally. I was going through the motion, doing mental math at calculating what's the expected price, but starting from Day 2, I just started to ballpark and rounded up, up-charging people to keep seeing the consequences of my actions. I felt like, whatever I did, it didn't make a difference in myself, my spider boss, or any customers that came. For example, there was a customer that said something like, "I'm not paying for this!" and they still paid me.
Some bugs I encountered: Finishing up Day 3, it says Day 1 ended instead. The web version crops out a bit of the left side of the price reference when I open it.
I hope the feedback would help flesh out the game - I really thought you guys did great for the jam! And the cover as well as the title really pulled me in; it's a strong idea.
Wow, you captured such a rich story behind the scenes of a very fun to play cafe clerk job. I liked how characters could abuse your generosity. For the theme, I really enjoy how you showed multiple sides of what generosity can look like and how it can be used. You created a cohesive design with a light-hearted spooky touch. I loved the math and how many customers you could see in a day, great job to the whole team that brought this gem to life, one of my favorites!
MINIMUM WAGE CAFE CLERK IN A WONKY FANTASY LAND? I’m sold! The art is chefs kiss and the idea is quite fun. I didn’t expect I’d need to math. I personally think it would’ve been more fun for me if I could just obtain the sum in-game, but just choose to override the price. Partially because the price book was being cut off even after I full-screened TT.
Cafe music & aesthetics were on point, nicely done! PS: Read one of the replies about the intention behind the screaming doors. That’s such a great message!
This is such a cute take on the theme! I love the humour in the writing ! The art style was also really cute but made it a little hard for me to discern the UI elements. Overall great job!!
Ah I understand what you mean. We can work on updating the game to make it more visually clear on what's intractable.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing our game!
Lmaooo ahahaha, I guess I will give everything for free to the needy atp xD I played it twice to see if i get a different ending. It said that I finished my quota for the day even though I dint.
I like this a lot. I love playing such games. Best part about this is that my brain dint wanna do mathematics and i could charge them around the amount. xD
Thanks for playing our game!
Yes the end screen each day is very buggy. It may have been implemented last minute . . . It's unfortunate that the final end screen broke too. I thought it was working properly on the little testing we did. Here are the other endings that you could've gotten though
Drain on the system: Failed to meet quotas for 2 days
Was it worth it?: You overcharged a lot of people and made X extra money
Some Things Don't Cost Money: You discounted a lot of people and saved them X money
Fun little game! I liked how the world was sort of lovecraftian, but still cozy feeling!
That's exactly the atmosphere we wanted to portray in the game.
We knew we wanted to do fantasy rather than a modern day world and decided to do a cafe inside a grand evil leader's main city. That's why you can hear screams whenever the door opens. We wanted to give the idea that even if you're surrounded by evil all around you, you still have the choice to be generous.
Thanks for playing our game!
It was really fun. It didn't remind me of Papers Please, more like some mobile games about managing a restaurants. One thing, tutorial is a little long, spider speaks to slow. I skipped it and figured everything out by myself.
Yeah, I couldn't really figure out how long to make the tutorial. It's hard to balance the timing of it when everybody has different reading speed, but yes, the tutorial should have been faster. If given more time, I would have liked to implement a click through dialogue mechanic so you can better read at your own pace.
Thanks for playing our game!
I really enjoyed waiting to see what each customer was going to say when they walked in! I dig the fantasy aesthetic mixed with the cozy atmosphere of a cafe as well! This was a great little experience that I could definitely see becoming an addicting release.
We're glad you enjoyed it! Our narrative designer will be delighted to hear your kind words
Neat take on the papers, please formula! Appreciated the chill cafe vibes as well.
Yes! Papers, Please was a major inspiration for us while developing this game. Thanks for playing!
Such a pretty and atmospheric game! I loved all the neat details. If only I were better at calculating! :D
I'm glad you enjoyed our game!
Fun concept executed well, the art and music are good. The tutorial intro is abhorently long, the game has a weird bug in full screen (browser) where the game is highlighted so every thing gets a blue filter. The end of day screen is also bugged, it shows day 1 no matter the day. Overall a fun experience, I had to use a calculator but that's more on me than the game.
Thank you for playing our game!
There were many bugs we wanted to fix and improvements we wanted to make but unfortunately ran out of time for. We will definitely update the game to fix those bugs after the jam. For the highlighting bug, I think it's a browser issue. I ran into the same bug in Firefox, but it's fine in Google.
Also don't worry about using a calculator, I also had to use one while testing the game! Maybe we'll build a built-in calculator in a future update. It would be cool though if people do play this game and it helps improve their math skills a bit.
