Yes, you bring up the 2 major pain points I couldn't fully solve. At first, I just used godots built in on wall, on floor etc. but found that it was a bit inconsistent with climbing the walls. I opted to instead do everything with raycasts but of course, with only four raycasts, you cant detect outside corners, so I had to do 8 with custom functions to detect all the different surfaces. I am still pretty new to coding and learning godot, so it was a constant battle trying to understand how it all worked together. I tested a version where the play was just stuck to the surfaces and could only jump, but it felt unnatural not being able to detach from things.
The water sometimes killing you without you seeing it is kind of the result of the ray casts, I think. It basically just detects when you are on a water tile and then decays you faster. I made the corner ray cats longer so that going over corners was more forgiving but sometimes can detect a water tile through a wall. I tried to get most of the spots and fix that but I maybe have missed a few, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! Thanks for playing it!
