I love the attention to detail, those small things that elevates the game like the jump: the little poof in the bottom, the light screen shake and the sound makes you "feel" the jump. Great job! I also added to my list to play more latter its definitely one to keep an eye for after the jam if you decide to keep going with it. Congrats, deserves more attention.
Liked a lot of the game, you said in the live you wanted feedback to improve the game so here we go: level design is in the right path, good puzzles but it misses a overall motivator, besides another puzzle what else can I get? I see the high score but for a non competitive player that's really not motivating and for a competitive one the high score is not "Flashy" enough maybe something during the phase showing your position going down? It lacks some viralization factor in a way, that extra spice that makes me remember the game and share with my friends what could it be? no idea haha if I knew I would be rich by now. I like the art but there is a lot you can do in a final game to make it even better like making more particles and effects. Making clear I'm just giving a more complete feedback as a final game because you asked, for a jam this is amazing! Congrats!!!!
The story really got me off guard, the idea of my death being an opportunity to a company hit hard. The mecanics are cool and it took me a while to get used to the ship but the care put into the upgrade system and the dialog made it very special. I feel in the visuals would help to play with light to get the mood there, overall a good game for sure. Also extra points for adding builds for macos and linux, I am one that always forget to do this but is a nice thing!
I love this kind of game, and I get the time constraint, it's hard so I'm giving you the feedback considering you are going to probably work on it after the jam to fix some of the issues:
- I love the content warning please never change
- There is a bug when you are talking to a costumer the other ones keep coming and the interface gets duplicated.
- The UI is confusing at times, I could not figure out how to add more plots of land or how to change the type of crop so I could not progress.
- The upgrades in the bottom I didn't knew which each did because there is no tool tip or anything in them.
That being said I love the theme and the art and I hope you fix some of the bugs because that's a game I would probably enjoy to play again!
Feedback for the jam: awesome job, making a card game in a jam is super risky because balancing in such a short time is so complicated. I love how simple and easy to understand the mechanics are, choosing to do a small length duel was a great choice. Next time try to make a web build this way its easier for us to test without having to download and a lot of people get scared with the "ArE yOu SuRe YoU WaNt tO ruN tHaT...." bullshit windows throw at us
Feedback if you are going to keep working on it: for quality of life first thing is allowing people to resize the window and fixing the text overflow in the canvas: at times is hard to read because of the lack of contrast with the background. You can upgrade the level to leave the chests to be open only after doing some duels, this way it will feel more rewarding.
I took me a while to figure the wall jump ahaha but once I got it became easy, as its a jam and I know the time limitations get us, but I was confused with the narrative, maybe it was a matter of not having enough time to add it all to the game? It happens! The little fairy is adorable and making a game in 4 days is a accomplishment, so congrats!
Did you played mine? We appreciate feedbacks and ideas as we are going to keep going https://itch.freezing.top/jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3930149
Really interesting to have the 2D sprites in the 3D space :) after the jam if you have time: you can use a box collider with IsTrigger for the stairs to do the change between the levels and also a collider to prevent falling and get stuck, right know you can fall through them if you try to just go up/down instead of clicking it.
