The atmosphere of the game is well done… pun intended! The implementation of the light and shadow theme is fantastic. Moo-ving on, the art is absolutely adorable but still fits perfectly, especially the alien. It gives off this tranquil yet slightly horror vibe, but holy cow, it’s cute TvT The little opening cutscene, the sounds, it all works well together. Honestly, this is a fantastic job for a first jam game. Hope you continue with this.
You had my attention from the start with that interactive menu XD (Great job innovating there as well). The music, sfx and and art all really tie in together with the ice cream theme (and the jam’s optional theme as well..in fact too well). The concept although simple is well executed (got exactly 50 licks on my second attempt). Fun game!
First things first, I liked the controls, wasn’t too jarring or slow. The fading transitions and entities blinking when you begin a level were nice details of polish. It’s understandable to not have enough time for more mechanics or difficult levels so I’m not gonna touch that (Even I struggle with that). Maybe if you’re still interested in the game you could continue to work on it post-jam? I might be dumb or didn’t see it somewhere but I wanted a restart button so bad. Asides that though I like this a lot! :)
This honestly isn’t bad for a first game jam. I didn’t get the goal of the game and the lighting was a bit of a problem (especially in the third room). But you still have more room for improvement here. I highly suggest you try to submit web builds of your jam games with or without downloadable versions to make playtesting and rating quicker for other jammers. Great use of the assets and I wish you the best of luck!…..don’t stop jamming ^V^
You score full creativity points! I especially loved the animation where the player’s body segments switch colours. I also appreciate the added UI elements (I think the score counter is buggy though). The player felt good to control too (although at times a little difficult to steer but that might just be me). Very cool entry! :D
I appreciate the minimalism you went for here. The music just added to the relaxing atmosphere (good choice of music). And the upgrades system too was well thought off (all though I think it could still need time for adjustments). I only found the player movement a tiny bit slippery with the default movement speed a little too slow; trying to catch candy at first was a bit difficult. But asides that minor issue, this was quite fun to play. Great job! :)
Congratulations on being the first to actually give me a scare in the jam (played this with headphones on and high volume when the screaming sfx got me, for that alone you deserve scare points). I think the art works well with the excellent atmosphere and the sounds….well my reaction says enough. Creative take on the theme. Great execution!
This art style is really creative! The music really suited the story and mood of the game. It was nice to finally play something that wasn’t pixelated. I had issues with collisions however, especially in the third level where the fan was introduced. Level design was great as well, although I think the difficulty spiked a little too early into the game (but that’s just my opinion). Full style points from me!
