No the ending is a little rushed, I didn't manage to make it that clear how to end it, but basically you deactivate the system and go back to your ship.

The z-mechanic is the fact that you're exploring a place where all maps are on the same plane, but because I had limited time I couldn't really go as far as I wanted and like have two actually up at the same time or two maps actually z-fighting and you not controlling on which one you are, so I guess you're not really incorrect, what's left is more narrative than mechanical, or I guess you could say it's more behind the scenes. Part of the plot that I couldn't really add but kind of implied is that rooms on different levels are actually kind of z-fighting in that sense, which is why the rooms you use to travel between planes are the only ones that are identical on both levels.

Anyway, thanks a lot for playing! I might get back to it after the jam and make the mechanic itself more involved and complete. And good luck in the jam

It's just a prototype so far but I used this for a jam project, thank you so much for sharing !

I don't love the way the rocks in the corners force me to play but that may be a skill issue.

Love the concept though, and it's nicely polished

It's very simple but I really like idea. My only problem is that dodging feels a bit too easy and hitting feels very hard to do consistently

Thanks for your submission!

I'm not sure I'll have my game done in time, but I'll try to have the base mechanics done at least and I'll add to it after the voting ends if needed.

Thank you so much! We're quite happy with the result and we're definitely going to be making more games in the future

Nice! Yeah that works really well

I was just thinking you should put these restrictions in the front page because some people might not know exactly what they can or can't do! Or they might want to be experimental but they should know how far they can experiment, you know

Thanks, I think that  mostly answers it. To be clear I know what a point and click usually entails, I was moreso wandering like, are there certain mechanics you feelshould or should not be present in order to respect this limitation?

As in, if I have some top down pov with fancy movement, abilities or whatever that are not point and click, does that disqualify me or is there some liberty as long as most of the game can reasonably be called point and click?

What counts as a point and click game, for the purpose of this jam? and what criteria will games be rated on?

It could also not have flavor in the text, like the other animals (as in, the fruit doesn't say it gets eaten by the birds). "Every five mice, birds or fish around the cat, create a guardian dice. (0/5)" Something like that?

I love this game! My only suggestions for improvements would be to add a way to automatically add a die (I just found out reading the other comments that there is a way to do it, maybe I missed it? or maybe it should be more obvious) and to slightly change the text for the cat, because I didn't use it for a long time because the wording of "eats" made me think it removed the face or something like this.

Edit: I lied, I have a couple more nitpicks I submitted a form

Thank you

Yeah I assumed that was likely what was going on haha
I'll say I don't even think the fact that it's so long is the worst thing (though it's far from ideal), it's moreso that after you reach a certain level and can't actually increase your stuff any more, percentage still increases soooo slowly that you effectively need to use time skips if you want to be done without waiting an actual year haha

And thank you so much!

(1 edit)

I think I might be the only person to have reached this point

Pretty fun! I wish the fast forwarding was faster though, at the end there it would legitimately take more than an hour to fast-forward a year

Thank you!

Thanks for the warning! Glad you like it

(1 edit)

Urgh it was such a stupid thing and I'm not even sure why it does that, but I just removed the part that did this for now
It wasn't even for something that important lol it was the discord integration part. Wouldn't have added it if I knew it would do that.

Okay nevermind, for some reason it works fine, then the version I upload to itch has this issue....

I'll try to correct it swiftly

Oh I think you're not getting the dialogue that happens at the beginning of the game, but I really don't understand why that would happen for you. I'll look into it, sorry for the inconvenience!

Oh crap

I just made another quick update for an unrelated bug, but it works on my side, can you tell me if that fixed it for you?

Thank you so much you're too nice! There's a new updated version if you want to give it a try!

I didn't understand at first and thought there was a bug because my score wasn't going up, and then I understood I had to wait for them to sit down before throwing coffee at them lol

Very cute and well done simple arcade-type game, I really like it

Not the only game this jam with this concept, but I think the best one of those I played. It's simple but there's a very nice curve to it, you always feel like you're progressing and getting to a higher goal. Very nice game, thanks for sharing!

A bit sad I couldn't find the 16th recipe, but otherwise fun game.

With a bit more to do, perhaps even only dialogue with the vendors or them simply speaking while you buy from them, and perhaps giving them some of the stuff you cook, I would definitely come back to play more.

I like the polish that was put in the effects, the shaking, the extension of the land, clicking leaves, etc.

But it's a little confusing, and the controls aren't intuitive. I read "this button to chop wood" so I tried and it did not work at all, and it took me checking if perhaps you had to change tools, and specifically scrolling the mouse wheel on the tool in the ui for it to change, and even then only scrolling up, which feels like the less intuitive one of the two options.

And like other people have said, at one point it all stopped working, not sure if it's a coincidence but for me it happened after I zoomed out and back in. Couldn't click leaves anymore and all my wood and leaves disappeared without me spending it.

Anyways, thank you for sharing, I'd love to try it again if you get back to it after the jam!

This genuinely felt like I was playing a mario party game haha, too bad it's not multiplayer.

It's cute and well executed, nice job

Also love the blur shader

Very cute game,  it feels very polished too. Not much to say, I just really enjoyed playing it. Also I sent a link of where you might have heard the story on the game page haha

I heard this story here https://www.facebook.com/reel/1357972009102636, and I just saw this post again not a week ago so it was a pretty funny experience.

Great game!

I can't wait to come back later and see what more you add to this, because it genuinely feels like a demo of a game I could buy on an old console. It's really really cute and the art is beautiful. In a world where you had a lot more time, I'd love to see a larger map with more characters and stuff to see, but just this is already really nice.

Congrats on your game, and thanks for sharing here!

Wow I'm not sure how you took such a simple concept and gameplay and made it so impactful, but I really liked it.

I think I had a bug where the chocolate bar disappeared on my first playthrough? I didn't give it to anyone, but I didn't have it, so I gave my wife nothing and she left me D:

I got the good ending on the next playthrough though.

I feel like there should be a different way to get the bad ending, so that you aren't locked into it after a single mistake. Though it's not really difficult to be fair, I probably feel this way because I was missing an item the first time around, it's probably fine.

Thanks a lot for sharing, really good game!

Haha no problem, I definitely wouldn't expect you to account for that for a jam!

My browser is configured in french, so yeah that might actually be part of it.

Thank you for trying it out regardless!

I'm playing on Mozilla Firefox, maybe that's why

I'm a sucker for games about watching a number go up, and this is a very well-made one!
I really like it, I don't really have any notes other than the completion percentage in the upper-left corner not registering and being replaced by a box, for me.

Great game, I'm gonna keep it playing while I'm looking at the other submissions haha

Thank you so much! Yeah the telegraphing could be better on some attacks, I've made the delay for the scythe attack longer, not really sure how but I'll try to improve the projectiles too.

Yeah it is kind of unfair, but that's kind of the point lol, your time is up!

(1 edit)

Yeah I wanted to add an effect on the score to show the effect of hitting (like a balatro kind of thing where you see the numbers acting up) and a particle effect when hitting her, but for now it's just the shader and a small stunlock if you hit her enough.
I might add that in the coming days though!

Thank you!

No need to be sorry :D

Thank you for playing!

I really like this conceptually, but I think it shouldn't be possible to get off the road if it's just gonna break the game lol, I just phased through the ground.
There also seems to be an issue where if I run into an obstacle I just get stuck permanently. I don't know if it's a collision issue or a velocity not resetting issue, or whatever else, but it didn't feel intentional.

Thank you for sharing

I like the visuals, sadly like the others I couldn't engage with the gameplay much.

I'll add on top of what they said that the mouse movement is way too fast, it's a little dizzying.

Congrats on your first game!
