Fixed it by making a new project page and uploading to that. Guess the old project page has ghost of pasts fullscreen settings or something.

I've selected "Embed in Page" in the dropdown, but the games launches in fullscreen anyhow. Anyone know what goes on here?

Whoa, you got it to work to some degree? Impressive! And nice brushwork too. Unfortunately, I lost the sources, so can't fix it. But I managed to get brush images by unzipping the .apk, so might recreate it. I have switched from AppGameKit to Godot since I made that prog, but haven't used it for Android dev yet.

True. But with that in mind, how long will it take for them to to ensure that the games live up to the "non-exhaustive" requiremens of the payment processors? As I mentioned in my OP, an admin promised that "visible labeling is coming", and this was six months ago. So just how long is temporary? The admins said they "await final determinations from our current payment processors" and "There are still unknowns that prevent us from providing a fixed timeline", which makes this "temporary" even more obscure.

This entire clusterfuck where a large percentage of games are shadow-banned to appease some unscrutable demands from the payment processors—the itch.io admins grant us obscure tenets like "await final determinations from our current payment processors" and "There are still unknowns that prevent us from providing a fixed timeline" like if the dealings with a credit card company is some sort of grand esoteric mystery far beyond what can be expressed with mere language—this entire clusterfuck reminds me of how the same admins dealt with AI.

As you might recall, AI checkmarks were added to the game pages and it was demanded that all developers went through their games and marked whether they had AI content. If the didn't, they risked being delisted. This move was NOT to make it easier for users to avoid AI content. There are still no ways for users to see which games have the AI metadata tags. I asked for transparency on this back in January, but it still isn't implemented.

So the reason everyone had to disclose AI use in their games was NOT because the admins took a stand against AI or something like that. According to the guidelines it was "due to legal ambiguity around rights associated with Generative AI content".

True, if copyright turns out to exist for AI training data, then this would influence itch.io. It would also influence Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, pretty much all the big tech players. It would turn society as we know it completely around.

This is such an unrealistic scenario. So when the itch.io admins choose to focus on this (rather than, say, giving us an option to search our bought games) I got the feeling that they were a bunch of anxious worrywarts. And I can't help but being reminded of this when I see the same pattern in their dealing with the credit card situation.

The itch.io admins have failed to show even the mildest of disapproval of the credit card companies Orwellian censorship. Their only attempt to speak truth to power was an emoji which could be interpreted as slightly sarcastic.

They say the mass delisting was to "ensure that we can continue to operate and provide a marketplace for all developers". Which is a noble goal, except that in order to do so, they no longer provide a marketplace for all developers. You can't invest in your values by selling out.

Here it should be mentioned that the delistening is temporary, of course. Still, when a site removes something temporarily, but without giving any timeframe for its return, a slight hint of concern is warranted. Another gaming site, gog.com decided to remove one of its main features, the user-created GOGMixes. The removal was said to be temporary, but that was over a decade ago; they still haven't returned. Hopefully itch.io moves faster than that. Still, in my AI post, an admin said that "Visible labeling is coming", but couldn't tell when. That was six months ago.

itch.io is one of the few websites I genuinely care about. I hope it will stay in existence. But not at the cost of the pervy segment of its user base. A slight to one is a slight to all.

Just did a search, and Penny Larcney, Gig Economy Supervillian is not (or no longer) shadowbanned. (Oh my! It's from the creators of Arcade Spirits)

This is the biggie, but I don't know much here. I guess it is likely that the puritans would like to go after LGBTQ, but are we there yet?

While I am disappointed that the site didn't speak up about the weird way the Visa/MasterCard duopoly is playing global censors, I don't think the change in what can be shown is all that radical. That said I think itch.io ought to give us an estimate at how long the sleeze shadowban will last.

Please avoid MAGA talking points like 'DEI' and 'Woke'. Besides that, the far right often pretend to be leftists. We see that with Nazis (National Socialists) TERFs (Trans-exclusive-radical-feminist), leftist-sounding slogans like "All life matters", and Zionists weaponizing antisemitism as a shield for a genocide. ChatGPT might fail at recognize such subtleties.

Also, "Far Left" is an absolute positive thing! Leftism is rooted in egalitarian principles, the idea that all human have worth through our humanity, and thus we should all be treated as equal. Basic humanity is not something which can go to far. That said, leftists can absolutely be assholes, become racist, transfobes, authoritarians, puritists, etc, but that's not far left—that is failing at being leftist, abandoning the core.

Steam choose to bend the knee, true, but that doesn't mean they had to. Do you know of any businesses which has actually been blocked by VISA/MasterCard over this? Their strength lies in throwing their weight around discretely, without having to actually go through with it.

If Steam had just ignored them, I don't think they would actually have blocked Steam. Most likely, nothing would have happened. Steam is simply too big. But even if you don't believe that, can we at least agree that Steam is big enough to have done at least something? Posted a protest banner, anything? You assume good faith, believing Steam only bent their knee after a long and painful soulsearching, but another possible scenario is that Steam management simply not cared all that much, and chose complience.

They got hit by some some impossible-to-implement requirements by UK’s online safety act. What did they do? The said, okay, were not going to comply, and instead choose to loose UK access, (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland). And they also put a GIANT BANNER at the top of their site, to inform their users.

Thanks, but I'm still of the opinion that this happen to comply with the demands of the "payment processors" (VISA/MasterCard). The post "Update on NSFW content". clearly state that this is the case.

I agree that itch.io was forced to comply. But even with that, they did so without even a hint of protest. Try checking the sites front page—no protest banner, no anything. Their silence speaks volumes. They didn't even dare name VISA/MasterCard in their post, but instead refer to these two with the more passive term "payment processors" or "payment partners", and the post also try to downplay the whole thing with passive language like "we must prioritize our relationship with our payment partners and take immediate steps towards compliance." and "We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of content to ensure we can meet the requirements of our payment processors." instead of just saying "we are busy deleting games"

True, but also—itch.io has failed to do even the smallest hint of protest over this. There is nothing to suggesting they aren't going along with this willingly.

They could have published their letter from VISA/MasterCard. They didn't. They could have put a big protest banner on the front page. They didn't. They could have spoken out about payment processors acting as de-facto global censorship. They didn't.

In fact, the wording in their https://itch.freezing.top/updates/update-on-nsfw-content  goes out of it way to downplay it, with corporate passive language like:

prioritize our relationship with our payment partners and take immediate steps towards compliance.

also note that, when they talk about that they skim the site for games to remove, they talk about the removal by an extremely stealthy litotes:

We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of content to ensure we can meet the requirements of our payment processors.

Of course, this is so cleverly hidden that they have to later point out what they're actually saying:

(but note the use passive voice, avoiding saying who will perform said removal, namely themselves)

I think this sites blatant compliance should be criticized, too.

That was all the info they provided. There was not even a hint at what content was going to be removed.

So if your game was removed, please let us know, so we can get an overall picture. (yes, even if your game is really REALLY lewd—this is about figuring out what the new policies even is, not casting judgement at which sleeze is in good taste.)

There might be a good way to morph one sound into another. I just don't know it. But fading one sound in while fading another out works quite well.

"No AI" is just a tag someone made. Just like the Horny-Eyeballs tag and the thousands of other tags. This has nothing to do with the AI generation disclosure section of the project page, which is still unavailable in search.

Itch.io requires us to tell which of our projects are AI, under the project pages AI generation disclosure section. Failure to comply can result in delistening. As told by the guidelines , this is "due to legal ambiguity around rights associated with Generative AI content". They're preemptively covering their hineys, basically.

Since they have gathered this information, it saddens me that they didn't take the next step of actually letting us see what is AI tagged and what isn't. As a guy who sometimes pay for content, I'd very much like to know if it is created by a human or by an algorithm.

I'm going to go through my projects, tagging them all. It is neccesary with AI taking over, I guess. Not sure what the future hold, if human created artwork will survive against algorithms which are a thousand times faster and better, but for now, tagging is nice.

But my question. Where does those tags go? How do I search for those tags? And when I am on a itch.io page, where do I see the AI / NO AI tag?

For instance, my Swaggering Flamingo Parade page has an AI generated cover image, so I tagged it as AI. But other than the text I wrote myself, I can't see AI being mentioned anywhere on the page.

When I saw the ROCK PAPER SCISSORS theme, I clevery deducted that I could use TextMesh with https://www.copyandpastesymbols.net/scissors-symbol.html and it worked mighty fine, but it turned out to be broken in HTML5 export. So I ended up dropping it. Still, I felt awful clever while it lasted.

If you want, you're welcome to add the whole updated collection to your itch.io page, call it Shareware Motherlode II or something? Although I really like the build-in update prompt, a single download might be easier.

Thanks for an excellent jam. I learned a few new things; picking up objects, jumping, adding 2D screen and interacting with it, and using Bolt physics. While I couldn't play any of the Quest only ones, seeing the fancy AR stuff was pretty mindblowing. I consider getting Quest myself, so I can playtest that platform too.

Thanks, found it—player_calibrate_height on PlayerBody. Now that I'm no longer hovering above the floor, I see that my table was way too high. I think the player height thing was somehow related to my early failure at scaling the player down to dollhouse scale via world_scale. I don't want to change it back, though; I like that the entire game takes place in a single space.

I think my general problem is that I don't really understand VR in Godot all that deeply. The XR Tools gives some neat shortcuts to most of what I need to do in an VR space, and this works for 99% of the game, but every now and then there's those weird little thing which isn't pre-coded for me—registering a button press, turning the player towards 90.0, rendering to specific left or right eye, triggering a double jump (kinda fixed that), extending XRToolsPickable (screws with XRToolsGrabPointHand) ... probably more. Still, this jam has pushed me to actually look at what goes on inside the XR tools, which I sorta considered to be some kind of overworldly stuff not meant for lesser beings. So things a starting to make a little more sense.
