Hi everyone,
I’m the developer behind shikashidev and I’m looking for help getting a project reindexed / removed from quarantine, since it was blocked after a recent update.
What happened:
-
In the past, I created one page per version/update.
-
I later understood from itch.io’s guidance that I should keep a single project page and publish updates there, because creating new pages can be seen as spam.
-
On my latest update (after changing the access/distribution setup), I mistakenly created one last separate page, and it was blocked / placed in quarantine.
Waiting time: I’ve already been waiting for more than 20 days for this to be resolved, and I’m not sure if anything else is required on my side or if my request is stuck somewhere in the queue.
What I need now:
I want to follow exactly what itch.io proposed: keep the game under one project and publish future versions via updates on that same page.
We have a new version scheduled to release this week, so I’m trying to get the page status resolved so I can release properly.
If there’s anything specific I need to change (tags, warnings, page text, distribution setup, etc.), please let me know and I’ll fix it immediately.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for taking the time to explain everything so clearly — I appreciate it.
I understand the impact this caused, and I’m sorry for any inconvenience. I genuinely didn’t intend to create problems for players or the platform. This will be my final and permanent page; I’m committed to keeping everything stable from now on.
Given the situation, could you please tell me what I should do now for my game to be reindexed properly?
And if there’s anything the team can do on their side to help restore the page’s visibility, I would be extremely grateful.
I just want to continue the project the right way from here. Thank you again for your patience and guidance.
Hi!
Yes, I did create a new page, and it seems the previous one was de-indexed because of that. I understand your point, and I’m not trying to repeat this behavior — I only wanted to bring the project back with the same visibility and indexing it originally had.
I already explained my reasons for creating a new (and final) page, and I’m just trying to keep everything stable from now on. I’m not trying to spam or reset anything — just restore the project properly.
Thanks for the clarification and for taking the time to respond.
Hello itch.io team and community,
My name is ShikashiDev, and I’m opening this thread regarding ticket #326485 because my game page was taken down without any warning or notification. I only became aware of the removal when trying to access the page.
I believe this may be connected to a recent change I made: previously, I offered a limited demo on itch.io, and now I decided to make the full version of the old release completely free for everyone. Along with this change, I created a new page for the updated version — not as an attempt to spam or gain visibility, but simply to restructure the distribution model of the project.
To clarify the situation:
-
The old free demo was replaced with the full version, now available at no cost.
-
The new updated version of the game is available only through Patreon support.
-
No sales are made through itch.io, and I have never encouraged players to pay multiple times for the same content.
I completely understand the importance of following platform guidelines, and I want to ensure everything is done correctly. I am also fully open to agreeing that any creation of additional pages for this project in the future may result in stricter actions, if that helps maintain compliance and clarity. My intention is to keep everything consolidated in one single, organized, official page.
Because of this, I kindly request a priority review of my case and guidance on what needs to be corrected so that my page can be restored. I am ready to make any necessary adjustments immediately.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
Best regards,
ShikashiDev
Hey Leafo, great to have you here! I was following what I thought was the right approach for releases, creating a new page for each version, since I believed that would be allowed for major updates. But after talking with some people in the community and reading the guidelines, I realized that might not have been the best way to go. I’d be happy to keep everything on a single page moving forward. Would it be possible to lift the quarantine so I can stick to one fixed page?
Hello everyone, how are you?
I hope you're doing well.
On June 6th, I relaunched my game with a complete overhaul and uploaded the new version to the platform. On the second day, the game disappeared from the listings, and since then I’ve been doing my best to drive traffic and generate sales. Itch.io is my main distribution platform, so this situation has been very concerning.
I currently have an open ticket that’s been awaiting a response for over 20 days. I read about the possibility of the game being placed in quarantine, and in the meantime I’ve tried to direct traffic to the page myself — including generating some sales — but I haven’t received any feedback.
Here are my open ticket numbers for reference:
286197

I understand there might be internal processes or reviews involved, but I’d really appreciate any update or clarification on my situation. I’ve been a developer on the platform for some time and truly appreciate the work you do.
Thanks in advance!
