OK, we finally managed to get WebRTC multiplayer working on our browser games and launched!   Both Goober Dash and Rocket Bot Royale integrate unreliable and reliable data channels for communication with our game servers.  This is a huge win, especially for low-latency real-time gaming on the web.  Both these games are relatively fast twitch, and we've noticed a huge improvement utilizing the unreliable WebRTC data channel over of our previous websocket implementation.

Both games are free to play, and should work right in the browser on itch.io:

And actually we have another game jam game using the same tech stack here as well:

Comments and criticisms welcome.  We're pretty happy with this stack right now, so going to try something next with 100's to 1000's of players in a single match.

Nice game, LOVE the 2d shadows!

Dungeons seem to get harder the farther away from center...  Best approach so far for me is to circle away from the center dungeon and buff up.   Dungeon grid co-ordinate is top-right.

Can we all just appreciate that "+10 seconds" animation appearing on all the powerup hits? :P

Great stuff!

Great character movement, well done!

Need these header too +1

No, our netcode module is propeitary at the moment.

Hi there,

We are game industry veterans who are using Godot. We are making a custom netcode module and are using it to make a series of online multiplayer games. We're currently working on a 2D battle royale that runs on everything - even web browsers!

We are going to livestream during the #stopwaitingforgodot game jam, where our plan is to make an Asteroids type game with online multiplayer running on real dedicated servers.

Come to our stream and ask any godot questions and we'll do our best to help you get started in godot game development!
