this game is so adorable and so cool and the idea is just amazing! and im pretty sure it was hard to balance out and make it feel good without make it too hard or too easy
the visuals are just amazing, there is nothing to say about it, its just good and wholesome, the music is also really good i loved how calming it was, and the fox just.. muah, i love foxes personally so this goes in my list of my fav games in this jam so far
the UI is simple and clean and nice and just fantastic, its just amazing overall, the transition is probably one of the best transitions i have seen in years, thanks for making such a foxy game, loved ittttt
This is such a unique concept and absolutely beautiful. It was pretty hard to play, I could not get the hang of it, but overall loved the experience, well done!
Very impressed by the tremendous effort that you put in the visuals, would never have expected so much polish for a jam game. The stylized environments are gorgeous !
The UI is especially is top-notch, the menus, transition animations in levels, the fact that you went as far putting a preview images and animations for the settings, thought of making the central platform see-through in the forest level when we pass behind it, just... wow !
The gameplay concept is interesting and unique, the music is relaxing, fits the vibe very well, you did a good job on it.
The negative points so far would be that it still needs some tweaking, it's too difficult. I put it in easy and still died a lot, partly because having the same issues as Salhiaa mentioned. Also in the snow level when the route starts from the center, my fox would sometimes die in the shade. The routes can feel a bit janky at times, at one point my fox got stuck for a bit.
Anyway really excited to follow how this is going to evolve, you've got a good concept in your hands that can turn into an excellent game !
Thank you for the kind comment and feedback! I appreciate it :)
I will try something for capturing the mouse in the game as this is not something built-in. I will also make the easy difficulty easier, and change the shadow detection so it doesn't have to be pixel-perfect in the center of the fox (which should make daytime levels even more easier too)
The issue right now is the night level can be finished without player input. I'm planning on reworking and experimenting with a different level design approach for night levels
I hope to release this last patch before the game jam deadline
Adding a new reply since I saw that you released the patch, so I played again, figured some quick feedback would be appreciated haha.
The experimental pointer feature is working well for me. It doesn't go fully to the right of the screen, not sure if it's normal, but that didn't alter my experience in any negative way, so don't worry about it !
Thanks to all those features and changes, I managed well in normal difficulty and with determination I even beat each level once in hard :D
The little butterfly to show the fox's path as well as the pop-up asking to lower the difficulty are very nice touches !
Great work and congrats on managing to make that last patch before the deadline, get some well-deserved rest now :)
I did try to play on my low-end laptop and also noticed the issue with the pointer not covering the full screen. The current version should have this fixed, but I discovered another bug (the cursor moves on its own). I will keep this feature in the game but put it on "off" by default, as on my main PC it runs fine and I don't get the bug.
I am happy to know you have completed a level on hard difficulty, congrats :)
I'll release just 1 more version right now, one with the confined pointer feature disabled as default
I absolutely adore the game concept (I had seen a video of it from the discord and I really wanted to try this game first when browsing submissions) and it's very fun to play. It's also very cute and polished visually.
I think it would be a nice improvement if you could capture the mouse in the game though. As someone who likes to have a pretty low sensibility, it wandered off the game window quite often and it was a bit frustating at times.
I would also have little suggestions to share for user experience if you're interested, but nothing too significant.
I see that there are other levels planned apparently ? I'm pretty eager to see that as well.
Thank you for sharing this game, it was a very nice experience.
I will look into locking the cursor in the game window, or detecting the mouse outside of the window, but I am not sure if this is possible on the web version. Feel free to share the suggestions, I appreciate all feedback :)
You're right, I have planned more levels, but they will take some more time as they will be more unique. Some more themes as well, but that will be for the future. Thank you for playing !
I think I'll try checking your game again in a few months, then It makes me very curious to see what you have planned
For the suggestions : - it could be nice adding an "if" statement to avoid launching the same level twice in a row. You could even remove each level already finished from the pool before resetting it once they have all been tried - going from day to night can be a bit confusing as you're not expecting the rules to change (well that's mostly on me since I didn't read the game description first, but it didn't seem necessary to understand the rest of the game). It's not really a problem as you can understand what's going on pretty quickly, but maybe changing the spirit's color (or even model) could help distinguish them visually and give an in-game explanation for the change in mechanic ? Or is there another in-game explanation ? (I'm genuinely curious)
I had the same idea earlier today to change the randomness into a shuffled list, as some levels were being repeated too many times
At the moment there is no explanation when a level is day or night, the only difference is the overall visuals of the map, the cursor icon, and the fox is a little brighter during night. I will experiment to find an effective way of notifying the player when a level is day or night
I think the change is mostly noticeable (especially with the lighting, and the cursor is a really nice detail I think - hadn't noticed that the fox got brighter though), it juste made me wonder why the light had a different effect on the fox during day and night, and since I hadn't read the description I did not understand the rule was different depending on the time of the day at first
So pretty... Figuring out how to use the shadows well was satisfying. Some levels seemed slightly longer than 20s, but not a problem - on the contrary, I wish the levels were at least a smidge longer so we had more time to take in the scenery...
The music was pleasant and relaxing, I think it turned out well - no need for you to worry about lack of experience. I'm sure you'll get even better as you keep experimenting.
Thank you for the kind words :) I appreciate it! The game has a more relaxing/chill pacing which may feel as if they are longer, but they are indeed 20 seconds
An extremely polished game with absolutely adorable graphics. Sometimes it’s a bit tricky to place the cursor in the correct spot, but the gameplay feels amazing.
This is shockingly high effort for this jam! The level of polish is insane. Very impressive. I wish the game was a bit easier, because I was unable to beat a level, and I tried like 20 times.
Thank you! I'm planning on releasing a patch in a few hours which should make the game a lot easier. More trees, heat meter balancing (slower gain, faster drain), I hope you will want to try it out again :)
beautiful but a little too difficult for me. perhaps allowing us to see the meter during wait time so we can learn a little at our own pace or some timeless practice might help? sometimes i'm in the shade on a sunny day, believing i'm safe, only to *poof*. also, fullscreen is great but allow us to set mouse sensitivity, if possible?
Thank you for the feedback! I have added your suggestions to the game and made the difficulty in the game easier. I hope you're interested in trying it out again. You can change the difficulty ingame by pressing P and change it in Settings, and you can experiment during the waiting time to see how fast the meter gains/drains. The default difficulty is already easier than prior to the update
What a beautifully crafted game! The concept is super unique and there's so much room for wonderful updates. The art, gameplay, and overall experience is truly amazing. Wonderful job! :)
The game environments look magnificent, and the UI is polished and stylish. The idea is pretty unique, and the gameplay is simple but quite challenging. Awesome work!
Thank you! Glad to hear the gameplay is challenging as I was unsure on how difficulty or easy it is for other players, but I did not want to make it too difficult
Beautiful design! I couldn't get my fox to survive long enough to see the night, but if it's as neat and polished as the daytime, you've got a real jewel in your hands. Thanks for sharing!
the game is super polished! i like all the ambiance graphics and good use of the light/shadow theme. it's probably with my cheap mouse but i couldnt be precise with the aiming, got accidentially slip off all the time. i would suggest there's some visual guide or preview of the map to see which path the fox is going to take and plan ahead.
Thank you! Glad you like it! There is some smoothness on the light's movement, but I have decreased it significantly for the next patch. I'll look into your suggestion, I appreciate it!

Wow I loved the atmosphere of the game, by far the most relaxing 20 seconds of my time playing all these games :)
Also foxes are adorable so instant 10/10 for me!

Your game looks amazing! But my pc is a potato so it couldn't run the game xD
Thank you, and my apologies. I will add more settings, but I am not sure if it will have much of an impact

I like the artwork. It turns out that I cannot be entrusted with a spirit animal or else I will fry it.
Fun and cute! Thanks for making this game!
Thank you for playing! Don't worry, the spirit is just playing with you :)
