Great little game! The color palette is spot on and the mechanics are solid — I had a lot of fun playing. I struggled a bit with the first level; I think it could be a bit easier to help players understand the game better. But overall, it’s a great project — well done!

Very interesting concept and executed really well! I love the 1-bit graphics and color scheme. I played with the mouse since I wasn't on mobile, and had some slight issues when I would drag the mouse outside the bounds of the screen, even slightly, would stop tracking and ended up feeling unresponsive or result in a misfire. I'm sure on mobile it would feel more intuitive because obviously you can't drag your finger outside the screen. A fullscreen button would also help remedy this slight issue on the smaller window.

At first I thought I had to play it like golf where I launch and wait to see where the ball lands for my next shot, but I quickly realized that results in a lot of damage, so it's actually better to rapidly toss it and catch it mid air. This made it feel a bit less strategic, but definitely faster paced.

Overall it was really fun! But I also didn't really want to replay the levels I already beat, so I intentionally spiked the extra balls down the trash chute a few times so I could proceed :P

Nice polish, the music fit well and the theme interpretation was interesting! Very nice work!

Ball spiking was my preferred method of quickly advancing to the next level while testing the different transitions between levels XD

I’ll look into handling the screen boundaries differently; I feel like those are going to be tricky to handle here, but maybe I can safely pause the game somehow? Ideally going out of bounds with the mouse shouldn’t fail a round!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback here; I ❤️ Alchemy Jam!

This is...  Um, well this is...  This has to be among the best jam competition games I have EVER played during my time on Itch. You have created something I could easily see being some self-contained executable game that would be on some mobile device store for $5 or something.

I see you managed to include a bubble theme and an arrow theme.  You could argue you included an ice theme since these bubbles are frozen and are very prone to shattering. :O

You wow'ed me with this game.  Well done!  I wish you 1st place in this competition!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go play with these crystal balls some more...

Notes:

  • "New Hire"???  I DO NOT WORK FOR YOU!!!  D:<
  • You can catch them mid-air?!  Please tell me this is deliberate! :O
  • It took a LOT of tries, but I finally managed to get a ball through a maze without losing one.  I think I suck at this game...
  • Bonus Point: This is probably going to sound messed up, but I like your title screen.  It's so... simple!
  • Bonus point: I like the 'incentive' to get as many balls as you can to the end of a level. :)

Thanks for the kind words and for giving wizard ball a go!

Those mid-air catches are very much intentional and needed for the best score, as every ding to you ball takes away precious points for it! I originally had a more complicated mechanic where you’d get paid for each ball and could redeem the money for upgrades, but it was way too much scope and ended up getting cut

I’ve played the game over a hundred times at this point and I’m still yet to have a perfect play through, so I need to work on my catches here, too!

Ehh, sometimes cuts happen.  I think it's better to start with a smaller concept, first, then see what you can add on, instead of starting too big and having to remove stuff.

This is super fun, love the art and sound effects!! <3

Developer

Thanks for playing! The art was really fun to make as I’ve never worked in a 1 bit style before.

Thanks for playing! I really loved how the audio came together on this one but all the credit to the original authors. Such amazing talent out here!
