How does the game fit the theme?
Play as a band of gingerbread people as they search a hazardous kitchen for biscuit pieces in order to bolster their Cookie Kingdom. This title is inspired by old school “turn-based combat” adventure games like Super Mario RPG, Pokemon, and Final Fantasy. We hope you enjoy our literal take on the theme “Risk it for Biscuit”!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Nope, only some git and unity project setup (Basic folders and orientation for the team)

How many people worked on the game?

This game gave me huge supraland vibes and im here for it! I love these types of games and the visual and aesthetic were really cleverly done. Level design wise I can see it was clearly thought out. The game lacks some polish, especially in terms of feedback, like in the turn based combact scenes I had a hard time understanding if I won or got damaged. I still like it and I'm impress at the amount of work you guys did in a week, hope you continue it and eventually release it as a full game, well done!

I love RPG's and this game is begging for an in-depth class system with inventory and upgrade management, stats, the works haha I've got a few things that pulled me out of the game: I didn't really notice a difference between any of the damage-dealing moves, not even in the amount of damage. Having a little tooltip pop up with some stats and maybe different effects would be great. I also wish the combat couldn't be triggered while in the middle of a jump. I fell off a ledge while going around those bottles in the pantry because of that haha Otherwise, cool game!

ha ha thanks for the comment and yes you are spot on. You may have noticed the closed tavern in the Cookie Kingdom. There were big plans for enlisting more warriors to the party, upgrading stats and skills of the warriors and more. Alas! 7 days meant it had to be cut, but may come sometime in the future after the jam. Thanks for the constructive feedback! 🙂

What amazing enviroments. And such fun choices for enemies, surprisingly threatening. Pulling all this off in but a week? I'm in awe. My only complaint really is the kinda... bare ending. Didn't affect my overall enjoyment much though.

Really impressive game, The level design is beautiful and the story is fun. The combat was a bit monotonous at times but that could just be a me issue. Also a silhouette under the player could help with the platforming sections.

Game aligns with the theme literally. I love the Final Fantasy turn based approach! (am a huge FF fan)

Great game overall, well done.

It needs a flee button tho (or repel like Pokemon)

I really dig the theme of the game and the enviroment! It felt great wandering around the kitchen as a little gingerbread.  Saddly the combat interrupted the exploration phase. Would be cool if you would see the encounters, but i know you wanted to got for the 90s vibe.

The combat would greatly benefit from descriptions, what each skills does.

Sadly i got stuck at the 3 level at the cans and could save myself out of there.

Overall good game and solid entry!

Great game. You guys got the frequency of random encounters tuned perfectly.

Great game! I really like the gameplay, which reminds me of JRPGs from the 90s. The graphics are incredible, especially for a game jam game.

The vibes are very cute and cozy, love the art!

The levels feel pretty fleshed out and so does the combat (though I wish there were descriptions for some of the skills/spells)

I accidentally soft-locked myself behind the olive oil bottle by falling off the cans in the pantry level, but overall I enjoyed my time

We lock ourselfs into that all the time, but welp, not time to update hahahah thanks for playing! <3

I love how crisp the visuals are and the environment is really immersive! The cookie box in the intro is stunning as well as the other environments. I would of liked to see more visual indicators of whats happening in the turn-based combat and an ability to see enemy health for sure.

Anyway great work! This was super interesting and I'd love to see how this game turns out if you guys ever continue on it.

I never thought how scary a kitchen is for food. Great idea!

Very beautiful art. The kitchen is very well done. I ejoyed it.

I loved the visuals and storytelling. The gameplay is interesting and intuitive and I loved the options to speed up the gameplay. I fell off the end of the world when I went to the kitchen level and didnt go in the kitchen and ended up in a loop of fighting. Would've liked to know the enemies health but the world isnt perfect. Seeing as this is unity, here's a tool I found that helps with making the dialogue feel alive: https://github.com/Luca3317/TMPEffects
