I like the voice acting in this game. It's something that I haven't really seen in other games. However, I feel like it's pretty hard to progress with how easy it is to die, especially with the enemies flinging fireballs at you from all directions at times.
Thank you, we're currently working on the battle system to make things more balanced 🙂
Very good first game (it seems)! I'm sure you've gotten feedback about everything that I thought wasn't great so I'm not going to reiterate them. Keep going and keep making games, they'll get better! Also the dialogue in the beginning is really funny and the music is pretty good.
Thanks, it was our first one although we both tinkered around in godot before so we were not entirely unprepared. That said, the jam definitely was a new experience for us and we had to tackle lots of issues we hadn't done before such as composing music and fx, battle systems, path finding, graphics, lighting, the list goes on 😅
nice game!,could use a little bit more polish(maybe setting a limit to the camera so the player doesn't see the empty black space,i also really adore the little dialogue at the beginning,it's creative and out of pocket, also the butler is very cute haha
Thanks, yeah playing with the camera is still something we need to do. I'm considering doing a stable camera per room but I have to test around what feels best. The blank space might just need some love to be less.... blank :)
yeah,if you're using the Godot engine you can keep the camera to follow the player but set a limit for it in the inspector,it could work, but of course whatever feels best for you is what you should do!!!
Hey, nice game! The voice acting at the beginning really sounded like you had a lot of fun, haha! It would still be great to have subtitles for players who prefer reading or aren’t native English speakers. I also loved the servant!
As for the gameplay, I think it feels a bit too hard and could use some polishing. Maybe adjusting the enemy range, enemy speed, or number of lives would help make the beginning easier. Then, as the player gains more equipment and experience, the enemies could gradually become more challenging. Right now, I died as soon as I stepped into the first room and immediately got the message that I’d risked too much XD
Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed our game. Maybe balancing should be it's own category to be rated 😅 we definitely messed that up.
This game was difficult to play, but very fun and rewarding. Visuals and audio are cool, but the voice-acting definitely takes the cake. Love the butler! The game mechanisms are pretty cool, with the dungeon layout changing between every run. If I was complaining about one thing, it would be feedback - it was a bit hard to know whether I'd hit or been hit (something that's been said of my game as well lol). Otherwise, great game!
Thank you for playing and for taking the time to comment! Player feedback is something we've heard a few times now and that's definitely something we need to improve on. I'd like to get something going like Hades has, where every hit feels very clear and controlled. Hopefully we can pull that of. :)
Fabulous voice acting. I love the detail that the king had randomly changing dungeon rooms installed, lol! Definitely hard to play, but the voice acting made it super engaging. Fantastic work!!
Thank you for your feedback and the kind words! :) It is hard to play (and unfairly so at the moment) but I'm happy to hear you found it engaging regardless!
Cool game! I enjoyed the witty dialogue. After playing for a while, I was only able to buy a few upgrades and that made progressing through the game a bit tedious - I was only able to get through around 2-3 rooms per run. I would suggest lowering the upgrade prices so that the player can experience growth more quickly so that the gameplay feels a bit more engaging. Overall, very cool game!
Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback. :) Yup, tedious is a good way to describe it and unfortunately the prices are way too high at the moment. We'll either drop them or add features that make them easier to afford.
Wow good game! I was not expecting the voiceovers, but they were great and really helped with the immersion. Loved the story and the silly in-game explanation for the random room layout. The visuals, background music, and sfx really fit the vibe!
It was a little laggy during runs, so I would suggest only generating the rooms when entered as a possible solution. I feel like the difficulty needs to be toned down (I could only sometimes clear a room on my first few runs), so maybe buff the player or debuff the enemies or even have less enemies spawn in the first few rooms of every run. It also took me a while to notice the chests so maybe you could make them stand out more like have them sparkle or something? An in-game tutorial would be nice in the future. The enemies dropping coins would be a good addition too. Lastly, as the game page mentions, the shop needs some rebalancing for sure.
Anyway, it was a fun experience with great potential!
Thank you for playing. I agree with all points you brought for improving the game. Regarding the laggyness, could you tell me when that happened?
- web or download version?
- when entering the dungeon or when entering the room or during fights?
I appreciate your feedback, it helps us a lot!
Sorry I should have specified that. I played the web version, and it would lag when entering the dungeon and then continue lagging a little for a few seconds once you can see the dungeon on screen and move around.
It has a lot of positive but there are negatives as well.
Design and polish is excellent, graphics are also pretty good and atmospheric. And the voiceover is cool and story is fun.
but difficulty, its not that hard, but its grindy
clearing 3 rooms yielded only 1k
lets say i want to buy blue 4 times, green 10 times and yellow 4 times, and magic staff
so that is 5kx4 + 1k x 10 +6kx4 +20k = 74k times 3 rooms, that is 222 rooms that needs to be cleared, with same enemies and same gameplay.
And that is i'm guessing is halfway through game.
In the old days of nes or sega, grinding was ok, people had nothing else to do, but in modern times, wasting so much players time for monotonous grinding is disrespectful. Sorry.
I cant use shop after first run
The end screen is a bit annoying, "you risked to much". did i? did i had any other options?
But otherwise this is awesome little roguelike if you balance out griding a bit (like make prices less or make them scale (every next upgrade more expensive), add more variety to enemies and rooms. This will become an awesome game.
Thanks for the detailed feedback, this helps us a lot!
Thank you for taking the time to play and comment our game!
That was pretty fun. I played for a while. Great job.
Thanks, played and rated yours as well. Fun little game!
A good game with a lot of potential! A little too difficult for me, at least at the beginning, when you don't have any upgrades yet. Some enemies' attacks seem a little unfair. The graphics are great and it's really cool that there are voiceovers. Congrats!
Played, enjoyed, rated and commented! :)
really great foundation for a roguelike! I think you have some of the best sound design ive seen! Great job
Thank you so much for the kind words 😅 I just made sounds with my mouth at my microphone...
Great game! It takes time to build your character like any roguelike games, but you can get pretty powerful fast if u just go for the moneyyyyy! The mages are overpowered and it'd be nice if coins would drop when you take down an enemy : )
Thanks for playing and for the feedback, it was very interesting seeing fresh eyes on your own game for the first time. 😄👍
A good start for a rogue lite dungeon crawler, but needs a bit of tweaking to make it pop.
Some suggestions from my side:
But overall, it is well done. The controls felt responsive, the game ran smoothly, and I liked the silliness of the dialogue.
Thank you so much for playing and for the detailed feedback. That you spent 20k coins shows that you either spend a lot of time with the game or are rather good at it 😄maybe both.
1. Absolutely, we have this planned along with additional features that should improve the dash
2. I agree, it does make a difference but at the moment the balance is missing and we initially had a save game planned. Having to start from 0 every time you play makes the imbalance even harsher. Strength for example: you need 4 upgrades to make it only 3 slashes, that's why at the moment speed is the upgrade that get's you ahead the fastest. But that's something we need to fix.
3. see number two, yes we need to work on those and I also want to implement additional upgrades like dash recovery, run speed, etc.
4. I had this planned but was unable to implement it in time. That's what the minimap was meant to be for. At the moment you don't even need the minimap as there is no way to get lost and no back tracking. Once we have multiple exits and preferably additiona side ways you can explore the minimap will make more sense. We also want to implement special rooms like the healing fountain (currently healing chests) and shop (currently room with coin chests) and I have many more Ideas for rooms to discover, such as a secret minions bar you can hang out in.
Thank you again! It's a pleasure to receive so much positive and constructive feedback! :)
I love the voice acting, it's cute. The only issue I had was a skill issue.
Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback, I appreciate it! I'll take a look at your game after work tonight 🙂
OMG THE BEST GAME I HAVE PLAYED SO FAR
Thanks for the love 🙂 if you manage to get to the "boss" room, let me know. I think you'd be the first one to play it that far besides us devs.
First time seeing a roguelite game for game jam!
Things to feedback:
- would love to see subtitle when the butler and player is talking!
- abit hard to fight the mages
- i find myself grinding the first room just to get enough gold to progress
- might want to increase the attack range of the player
Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback. All good points we need to work on. :)
The Controls feel a bit clunky & the long dialogue in the beginning is a bit too much for my taste. I do not understand why i am fighting as a player - but that maybe on me. Subtitles would be nice. It´s quite difficult tho :D I like the concept and the setting! :)
Thanks for the feedback, length of dialogue will definitely be something we need to balance. There is some info we want to tell the player but I'm not a fan of long intros myself. So yeah, more testing needed :)
Loved the roguelite implementation of this. congratz!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed our game! :)
Nice game! For me it was a little hard, I think some balancing would be good and the controls felt a little slippery. But the procedural generation and enemy AI is incredible! Love the visual style. Overall good job!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Yeah we need to work on the combat both in terms of control / player feedback and the difficulty scale.
