Wow, the first voiced game I’ve played in this JAM! The characters are hilarious, really enjoyed the story, and it’s super immersive!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! :) Your game is still on my to play & rate list, I'll comment on your page once I get to it! :)
Cool Game, I Don't really like the Artstyle though, also this might just be a me problem but there was this random white pixel randomly on the screen...?
Great game outside of that.
Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback :) Could you tell me where that pixel was or if possible send me a screenshot? I'd love to fix it.
was gonna send a screenshot but not working, it's on the top right.
Thanks, I'll check it out. Maybe I can find it. :)
Ah, maybe you mean this box?

yeah
Ah, that's not a bug really but the mini map. It would make sense to disable it in the throne room since there is only ever one room. Good catch! It's currently only useful in the dungeon.
Love it! There is so much work in it: The art, soundtrack, voice acting, even sfx done by you :)
Really impressed. Maybe I suck, but these fire casting enemies are too hard, They kill me very quickly >_<
Don't worry, I have as much trouble with them as you do. We didn't have time to balance them and make dodging the fireballs easier. It gets easier with upgrades but without a save system you'd need a 2-3 hour session to get that far 😅🤣
Starting off in my castle, I really enjoyed the dialogue—it was both funny and engaging. That serpent, always having to do everything and complaining about it, was hilarious and added so much character to the game.
When I began attacking enemies, though, I found it really hard to survive even a single room. I get that it’s meant to be risky, but maybe it could be a little more forgiving for newbies like me 😂.
The game loop itself was super addicting—I kept dying and coming back, always excited to check out the shop. Really cool design! One suggestion: when I die, instead of just restarting again if a portal took me back to my castle. Maybe losing some of my gold on death would make it feel more punishing and balanced, Great submission.
Thanks for the feedback and for playing, I love the portal idea! I will definitely have a look at that. Instead of loosing gold on death we had another idea which is in the dialog but we were unable to implement it in time. We wanted players to be able to bet money on how far they make it. If you reach your goal, you get your money back + winnings, if not, you loose what you bet. :)
As for making it easier in the beginning, I agree. We were unable to balance it in time for the submission. We wanted to do sooo much more 😅
I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed the game loop as well as the dialogs!
Being able to bet money is definitely going to be my thing 😈. I’d love to see this game released someday or even featured in the Brackeys video! It was a lot of fun and really made me laugh—great job. I truly enjoyed playing your game, and thank you for putting so much effort into it 😁❤️
Thanks for the kind words, we're definitely will see where this takes us with a bit more effort put into it. :)
I'm impressed with the quality of the graphics, not just the "rate" of that quality, but how well it's balanced and created a very UNIQUE atmosphere! Congratulations on that!
The dialogue is well-written, the story is great, and the UI is beautiful!
Excellent game!!
The only thing I would suggest is not changing the room you're in before. I left the first room, went through a hallway, and ended up in a third room. When I returned to the second, it was completely different. I think randomized dungeons are cool, but maybe keeping a history of previous rooms? I don't know, maybe that was intentional, and if so, I apologize.
Overall, your game is really cool.
Thanks for playing and for the kind words!
As for the bug, that shouldn't happen. The rooms are randomly connected but the logic should verify that no room is overwritten and all rooms are placed once you enter the very first room of the dungeon. Only chests and enemies spawn once you enter a room for the first time. What exactly did you mean with the room changed? The entire layout or things like chests, etc.? Feel free to hit me up on Discord @mohrphium if that's easier for you to go into detail. :)
The voice acting is excellent, and I love it. The hard part is the enemies—I hope you could deal slightly less damage and give the player a bit more time to move on to another dungeon.
All I can say is: it’s a very great game.
Thanks for playing our game and the feedback! The upgrades do just that although they are overpriced at the monent. You can find them in chests though so currently it's an unbalanced mixture of getting better and having luck with the chest drops. We are working on the balance and more features like weapons, better dodging, etc. for after the jam. ☺️
The voice acting is the highlight here, art is pretty nice too. But the gameplay is so hard, in the first room alone you get ambushed by so many guys, with those fireball guys dealing 15dmg/hit to your measly 100HP it gets overwhelming very fast :<, the upgrade is pretty expensive as well. The attack does not feel really impactful somehow and it's very tricky to dodge the fireball. I did discover that you can kinda cheese the fireball guy using a wall and poke at them til they are dead though :>
Thanks for the feedback! The rooms and enemy spawns are somewhat random as is whether the enemies.have staffs, swords or both. I had runs myself where I walk into a room and get obliterated. It's definitely not an easy fight and we need to work on the impact of te slashes and make the fireballs more dodgeable. I also want to work on the dash to make it more helpful in a fight.
Loved the theme and the fact you guys went with a random generation map!
The voice over is really funny and adds to the immersion!! ✨✨
I wish I could slash more times with the sword and I felt the gameplay a bit hard, but I'm sure it's part of the experience you guys wanted to pass for the player!
Solid entry! ✨✨😊
The slash get's faster with the green upgrades which at the current setting are the only ones that are really affordable. It takes a few runs to grind enough money for them though. We had the pricing planned with a save system in mind which we were unable to implement in time. So for the current state of the game, the prices are way to high unfortunately.
Ohh, makes sense!
And can relate to not having all the features we want.. 😁
But I had a fun experience in yours! 💪
I was hooked from the very beginning. However, since English isn't my native language, I thought having subtitles in future updates would help me enjoy the world-building even more. Great work!
Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback. Subtitles are definitely planned, keep an eye on the game as we will continue development 🙂
Haha, fantastic voice acting! That immediately set such a cool atmosphere - this is exactly what creative jam games should be like. Good luck!
Thanks, glad my voice acting is being received so well, it was kinda rushed (but then again, what wasnt!) 😄
Love the voice acting, and really cool to see a procedurally generated dungeon in the jam. The combat was pretty frustrating unfortunately - the hitbox for the player seems too big for the fireballs which makes it quite hard to dodge them, and combined with the inconsistent timing of when they fire it made for some cheap deaths. As others have mentioned, the pricing was also way too high to start, I wasn't prepared to grind that long!
All up though, pretty good, well done!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback, the grind was definitely made in mind with a longer game (saves, meta progression, etc.) and doesn't fit the "trying game jam entries" play style. And yes, those pesky mages, I feel your frustration!
Good game, solid gameplay, and I haven’t encountered any bugs or issues so far. The music fits well with the gameplay and the overall atmosphere of the game. I really enjoy the voiced dialogues, and I especially like the butler :D. The gameplay loop itself can feel a bit frustrating, though. Items at the beginning could be a little cheaper to help the loop pick up speed faster and make the early section less slow. But all in all, it’s a top candidate!
Thank you so much for playing the game and for the kind words. The item pricing has fallen victim to a feature we had planned but were unable to implement in time - gamble your coin on how far you make it the next run and get it back with a multiplier if you manage to reach your own goal. That would've been the boost you're describing (and will be once we continue development after the game jam). It's in the dialog but not the game unfortunately.
sounds like a really cool mechanic! Hope you do a full game ;)
Fun game and I can see the potential it has if you keep working on it! Intro was fun and the music fits the theme.
Thanks for the kind words! We're planning on seeing where this takes us, it was a lot of fun to create this hacked together messy version and we still have lots of ideas.... and plans to redo certain things.
I really dig the protagonists's design - its like if Monty Pythons' black knight played The Overlord. Enviromental texture work is solid, I really liked the brick work; and the moving portrait.
Opening cutscene AND voice acting? Bravo!
Only encountered one real bug, a dead enemy's sword lying on the ground kept damaging me whenever I stepped on it. I don't know if that was reproduceable because I made sure to walk around them from that point on.
Only real complaint: the "mages" are oppresive! Screw those guys. They're way more dangerous in melee than the sword guys - should propably appear in lower numbers compared to the melee dudes who are fun to kite.
Thanks for the detailed feedback and glad you liked it
Also thanks a lot for the bug report. That really helps! I have an idea what might have caused it and how to fix it.
Thanks for the feedback and the kind works. And you noticed the moving eyes 🤩 was hoping it wasn't too subtle. And yes, after extensive playtesting the game (not enough time for that during the jam) I can whole heartedly agree. Screw those guys! 😂
Edit: monty python and overlord may not have been planned but there is a strong chance they have subconsciously influenced me.
Fun game, I liked the intro.
Thanks, glad you like it! :) It was fun recording it 😄
Game that made me keep playing. Great job!
Thanks, I keep coming back to it myself and not just for testing 😄
Very unique style and the voice acting was really cool to hear. Usually games in game jams dont have that, so it suprised me. Overall awesome. I liked the game, it has a different feel to it then most others and I enjoyed the art as well. Great work!
Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear your enjoyed our game and my voice acting! 😄
Wow! I really found myself having so much fun with this one! The dialogue was god tier and really kept me engaged! I laughed so hard the first time I died and the shop keeper started talking! Amazing work!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words! Great to hear you had fun, keep an eye on it, we're planning to continue development beyond the game jam! :)
6000 for a strength upgrade? I could barely make 1000 :'). The attack range feels a little unclear, like I had to be practically overlapping with enemies to hit them. I also wish I had more tools to deal with enemies than just attacking and rolling. They seemed to have a lot more going for them.
Hi LemonBar, thanks for playing and for the feedback. I absolutely agree, we've been rushing to finish the game and there has been waaaay to little balance testing. I'm playing it myself currently to get a better feel for it but the price tag also comes since we planned a gambling system to bet on your own run and make more money faster. We didn't manage to implement that but we will continue tinkering around with this game. ^_^
I wish there were subtitles when someone's talking, but once the gameplay started it was fun!
Thanks for the feedback! I decided to do voice as we were running out of time and it was quicker than doing text but subtitles and images of the speaking characters are definitely something I want to add. :)
