Feels very cool and calm, great visuals!
Feels very cool and calm, great visuals!
Very cozy game, which I found a bit funny considering how it looks a lot like a "breathing simulator" that gave me a bit of anxiety at times XD but that was mostly my fault since I found myself breathing at the same rythm as the game (bad thing? Good thing? My skills didn't help xD). Lovely art, we don't see enough traditional media in videogames <3
Surprisingly tricky at times for a game about breathing in and out at different speeds. Really enjoyed the art style and watching my guy get more and more stressed out as I failed to stop them turning into a leaf pile. Very zen, fits the theme of the jam beautifully.
game about breathing manually
interesting concept, I didn't expect I would get damaged by the leaves.
and the leaves also move while the player exhale and inhale.
But maybe it's something to consider to treat our lung well and be careful of what we breathe in.
Really cool mechanic.
very zen... reminded me to breathe every now and then 🫥
game looks and feels very unique, very charming overall
Very interesting idea and beautiful art! Reminded me of how you can blow into the PS5 controller for some game mechanics, could be really fun to use your actual lungs to blow the leaves! =D
Also I played in browser and it wasn't glitchy I think? But when I completed level it kinda lagged and the win screen appeared very slowly, points counter was also going up quite slow, idk maybe it was intended that way!
Thanks a bunch! That would be cool to use the PS5 controller! Yes the end of level thing is a bug due to the game going into slow mo. But I thought it was acceptable so it was low priority and never got fixed.
Lovely hand drawn style, genuinely did make me quite relaxed. Loved the sound effects, the one that did make me laugh a little was the THWACK from the leaves hitting you haha. Wonderful game, great job to the creators.
Thank you! haha yes the dramatic thwacks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Very fun and unique game! Love the hand drawn elements as well as the game concept itself! It was a bit confusing reading the controls but after my first try I started to understand. Overall very fun and comfy! Great job :)
Thank you! Yes I thought controls would be a bit confusing at first but glad you got the hang of it :)
A very unique game both in art style and gameplay… but I still wasn’t sure what to do and I lost my relaxation every time.
I was a little surprised to see the middle mouse button being used. I think keyboard controls might have been more appropriate if you’re just holding down buttons for the gameplay. Then you could have mapped breathing in to the left side and breathing out to the right side?
Thank you! Yeah ideally it would have been nice to have some kind of subtle tutorial to help the player know exactly how it all worked. The keyboard idea is very logically. I definitely should have at least provided a second lot of inputs for keyboard.
unique game, quite beautiful art, very comfy!
Many thanks :)
Awesome art, audio, and cozy vibes here. I think you've got a really interesting concept here, but the controls and lack of feedback (visible or audible) felt like it really held me back from truly understanding how to master the mechanics needed to succeed in the game. I think the lung meter was trying to help me out here, but I couldn't quite nail it. Thanks for making and sharing your game though—it was fun to give it a shot!
Thanks so much! Yeah I think the consensus is that a tutorial of some kind would have gone a long way.
The feedback to have in there:
Breathing SFX for all actions (could be louder?)
Face turns blue if you hold your breath too long (empty or full)
Lungs meter/image expands and shrinks with breathing. Turns red at 0% and green at 100%
Face and stress meter.
The character could have had some additional animations to match the breathing.
I considered some kind of visual puff of air coming from the mouth but decided against it to keep it more "realistic" or natural haha. Maybe wasn't the right choice
Very cute and relaxing game! I really enjoyed the art style. I love the "fight to stay calm", feels very true sometimes.I found it a little tricky to determine how far I could blow and the controls were a bit weird at first but that's mostly because I played it on a trackpad. I bet with a mouse, it is much better. Overall, really cute game and very solid entry. Well done!
Thanks a bunch! Yes it would have been weird on a trackpad XD
Very cute visuals from your daughter! So nice that you could work together on the project and she did a better job than me trying out pixelart :D Liked the fresh and creative gameplay idea and the idea of the soundtrack being dynamic and based on what is happening in the game! My highscore was 1762 (on intense). Unfortunately I lost as it appears to currently be possible for the wind to pick up leaves from the ground next to you and then hitting you with it. That resulted in the end of my run very suddenly! Also, for your information, it appears that you currently cannot regain the breath bonus once its lost. Not sure if that is intended.
Great game!
Thanks so much! I'll let her know :)
Yes, you generally need to use a super blow to keep those leaves away during a gust. Leaves that hit around your feet don't affect stress but further up your leg does XD
There are two possible bonuses. Multiplication of points increases the longer you stay above 95% relaxed.
And a 200 point bonus every time you complete a 100% to 0% slow exhale (is only received when you press slow inhale and can be lost if you press something else)
Very nice game, really liked the watercolor visual assets and the fact your daughter hand painted them is so sweet! The concept is pretty original, took me a while to figure out the best way to go about breathing in and out but this was very relaxing and I enjoyed it a lot, nice work!
Thank you so much!
A beautiful game! Fantastic art style that really fits the theme and vibe of the game. Great concept too! The controls could maybe be reworked as they weren't the most intuitive, but didn't cause me too much difficulty.
Overall a very comfy experience though. Good Work!
Yeah ideally it would have been nice to introduce the controls slowly. I thought that the initial controls page might have been a bit too much to take in. Thanks! :D
I know where you're coming from. I ran out of time to add a simple tutorial / pointer as to what to do initially in my entry. Onboarding players without overwhelming them is super tricky, especially in a game jam time frame,
Yeah I'm pretty happy with what I was able to squeeze in but plenty of room for improvement
I like it a lot
Not much to say other than that, if I had one nitpickit would be that the controls aren't very intuitive? Like breathing in slowly/gulping air and slowly blowing/blowing hard don't feel like natural extensions of each other, gameplay-wise, so maybe it would have been better to have you spamming the button for the intense versions?
It was mostly a problem because at first I couldn't remember what the controls for those were and it feels like the kind of thing I should be able to deduce.
But that's just a nitpick, very cute game otherwise!
Yeah fair points :D Thank you!
Very lovely style and great use of the theme. I found the game trickier than I expected because it took a while to figure out the range of my 'breath', but overall it was a solid entry. And the look, sound, and atmosphere was very relaxing.
Good luck with the jam.
D
Thanks Dave :D
Yeah I was hoping the red and green lungs were a solid indicator but I guess if you never let it get low or high enough, you wouldn't know about it haha
Super beautiful!! Love the arty direction, really appreciate the intensity levels lol, helped me experience the game in its entirety. Congrats on the submission!
Much appreciated 😁
