Game description
Can you escape from this surreal arcade reality? Survive the attacks of a boss battle and come out alive.
Sound Waves is a sound based evasion game where you have to dodge incoming waves and notes. Use your wits and don’t pass out!
Theme interpretation
The attacks are waves, and also there is sound in the game, which are sound waves, which is also the title of the game.

simple gameplay with nice art. Pretty cool. I didn't notice that there was story progression since there was no indicator of progress.
Thanks for the feedback! That's a very good point, I will consider that next time
Art and sound design are awesome!
A suggestion from me would be, to have a timer thingy, so we know for how much more we need to survive.(I thought we are doomed to survive it forever).
Another thing you can also do is have a fade-in/fade-out effect for the music, so the music would feel more smooth when it loops around in a level!
ooo yeah that’s a good idea, I will definitely add a timer next time. The way I implemented the music was actually really really really really horrid, and it does actually have fade out on individual notes, otherwise every note would be cut off.
So charming! I had a lot of fun studying the music while playing this - there were some really intriguing compositional ideas on display here. I've never heard a (...xylophone? marimba?) sound so threatening before. Well, except for maybe in Super Mario 64. That, and the combination between instrument samples and chiptunes was really fun!
I loved the art style here too. The character's expressions were fantastic, but there was a strange sense of melancholy to the atmosphere, which I found quite compelling - must be the lack of colors.
The lack of diagonal movement took a bit of getting used to, but honestly I don't think it affects the end result that much. I didn't expect sine wave functions to be so hard to dodge!
Overall, phenomenal work!
woahhh thanks for the feedback! Our composer was actually pretty new so I’m glad to hear that!
Cool art and nice nod to games like Undertale!
Controls were quite wonky though. It is weird that vertical movement is always prioritized over horizontal movement but it does not work vice versa. I would have preferred to have diagonal movement for more precise movement, as this game requires that extra precision.
But overall, it is a simple but solid entry!
Thanks for the feedback! Good point about the movement, ...honestly I was a bit lazy with the priority thing... but yeah you make a good point that since this game requires more precision with movement, I should have added 8 way movement
Love the pixel art.
Thank you! Our artist worked hard on it!
Its pretty fun, i like how u approached the theme
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this! I thought the art looked cool and I liked how the soundtrack got more complicated as it went on, about the camera issue btw, im pretty sure its something in the godot window settings, something about the default window size in godot being different to the default window size on web, I'd recommend going to Project->Project Settings->the Window section under display-> the aspect and mode under the stretch category and then changing it to viewport and expand. Or at least those are the settings I have. If that doesn't work you might have to change the window size in godot to be the same as fullscreen. Best of luck! sorry for the backseat gamedeving. I liked the description I thought it was pretty funny
Ooo tysm for the tips, I will def try it next time. I'm glad you enjoyed the really long and pointless description I added for no reason
I wanted to see if an idea I thought up could help me survive in your game and I found that it did! In fact, it worked so well that the system told me I've won the game! Cheers!
Yay! Well done. I'm not even sure if the artist has fully finished the game yet (if you're reading this, please play the game)
this game is really charming. the goofy tone next to the monochromatic/confetti color scheme is pretty striking. thanks for sharing :)
Woah thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
The artist says, "I really appreciate your comment, yes the idea was having high stakes and boss battle vibes except it's goofy and low budget."
amazing game reminds me alot of undertales boss fights. the art music and gameplay are all fantastic.
It was heavily inspired by Undertale! I'm glad you enjoyed it
I really like the style of the characters.
The artist says, verbatim, "Thanks, our artist spent a lot of time making it give that fun retro vibe"
The artist says, "can you just change it to I intead of our artist" but I said, "no"
The artist says, "can you add I didn't know the developer was gonna write it this way T-T"
