Great game! Very cool looking, good feel. High difficulty for me, I kept losing my mouse and would go ZOOM at mach 12. Very very fun, good job! Loved the sound and visuals

difficult but cool

Nice page, cool graphics, good gameplay. Kinda hard though, kept falling into my own pit after every second or so loop, it's not critical which is really good. But it was really fun for sure, even though my highest score is just 550 c: Wish your game had cool music too. I missed some retro wave ost.

To fast for my age, but I it is definitely very well made.

Great game! I could only make it up to 140 — I just kept panicking a little bit when drawing loops, which made me 1) accidentally go much faster and thus become even more panicked and 2) forget that I was vulnerable to my own loops. I could remember that after drawing the loops, but so often I ended up finishing a loop with an inward turn to my demise. Kudos to the decision to make it not be an insta-death game, which would've made it incredibly frustrating. Also good job to make the decision that collisions are an alternate, albeit inefficient, way of killing enemies. Made my mistakes feel less terrible, which kept me playing longer.

Finally — very smart call to make health pickups abundant. Better to make it a little too easy during a jam than too hard, and managing the speed was hard enough!

I'm simultaneously wanting to suggest you make a post-jam version with a more easily-controllable control scheme (not mouse-based, at least not for speed control), and noticing that this scheme is very friendly to my tendonitis, as gentle motions of the mouse and zero clicking is pretty much ideal there. But also I don't think trying to balance to multiple. extremely different control schemes would be wise...tough call.

Thanks for the detailed review! I think the core issue is that different people prefer different sensitivity to their mouse input. I suspect an adjustable slider could’ve fixed some of your problems. Possibly the speed could also have a tiny acceleration instead of “snapping” based on the cursors distance. It really is a bit hard trying to get that feeling of super fast gameplay with having a decent control scheme. I’m glad you had fun with it!

Because I'm bad at reading I missed the whole, driving fast fills up your meter, once I got that it was actually really cool! Visuals are very pretty, I'm noticing a lot of crt effects this jam but it really works! Cool vibe with the bikes too, one issue is that a lot of the time when you make a loop you can fall into it straight away because you're driving in a curved direction but it's still only 5 points lost, 370 is my score, great work! (Also great work on your itch page it looks very nice)

Thanks for the kind words! The holes were intended to be drawn by cutting into your curve at any point rather than actually making a circular loop from start to end. If you cut through it, you move away from the area and are much less likely to fall. I think we could’ve made this a bit more clear, since it seems many people are facing this issue. Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you had fun!

Okay, well that's really cool then, I feel like this is one of those games that could of benefited from having a short video on the itch page to show how to play it right, still an awesome game!

Super fun game! I love the vibe and the juice. Great job!

it is soo satisfiying good job :>

I like the game's visuals, and even though the controls go really fast once you get used to it it's pretty fun!

LOVE IT, Reminds me of 2d cyber bike line game. The audio also enhances the game a lot more.

I love this kind of game, and this one is very satisfying when you get the feel for it! A little tough to tell what's going on sometimes, but the sounds and visuals are really nice. Well done!

It's like slither.io :) fantastic

the audio here really elevates the experience. had a good time improving over the course of my play too! not by much, but technically improving!

Fun game, very cool idea and aesthetic. Definitely goes WAY too fast though.

Developer

Gotta go fast! This was the original vision :P but I do understand it may sometimes initially be a bit hard to control.

Great style. The concept works well, but the control was very sensitive. Would have been great to have some way to change that. Great job! <3

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We didn’t realize this was an issue because we got too used to the controls :( Thanks for playing though! I hope you still had fun.

Very TRON. I liked the CRT arcade screen effect!

Really neat idea!

Art is very cool!

Let me start off by saying I really love the aesthetic of the game, the visuals are great! However there were times where the controls caused me a bit of frustration, I do like that you can control your speed with the cursor, but I think it changes speed way too fast and it makes it hard to make precise turns, perhaps it would feel better to gradually change it with a slight delay? There were also times where I would fall into my own pits after drawing them, but I don't know if that was just me being bad at the game or a bug, i think it would've been better feedback for the player if you were a bit less harsh on how/when the player fell into a pit they drew, say for example you could add a radius around the player and if that entire radius fits inside the pit they fall. I don't know exactly the technical details as i'm not good with godot, but there are my 2 cents.

Firstly, thanks for the detailed review! While play testing, I found that a quick response time to turns and speed was necessary to be able to react to things as the waves progressed. Granted, we didn’t have the chance to test with other people so it’s likely we just got used to the controls. It’s a bit unfortunate because that really is the core hook of the game.

Regarding dropping into the holes, the game was intended to played at somewhat a fast pace, so if you move too slowly while making a loop, it may drag you in since you get snagged on the edge (definitely a bug! Just one that we were aware of). It was hard to find a consistent way for it to punish you for deliberately falling into the hole vs these kinds of things (especially when moving fast, usual collision systems struggle to keep up). I agree that can be a bit annoying at times. I suppose what we have is just a product of the limited time as always, but I hope you still had some fun with it!
