A little clunky at first but I love the idea. Great art too!

Woah what an incredible entry. The inspiration taken from the sequencer makes it really unique, although me who doesn't have any experience using one struggled for a long time before figuring out how to use it. Even though the interface is great, it does feel a bit tiring to use, but that's on me for being too lazy. Awesome entry people!

Thank you so much! We're working on ways to make it more accessible (while keeping the "roughness" of using an in-game physical controller) for the complete version. So keep an eye on it if you'd like!

The art and sound in this is so perfect!!!
the game concept is amazing, but i think the start is a little overwheling, it took me a long time to figure it out what i was doing (as the same buttons chose the action and input them in the timeline - maybe they could be separated?)

with this level of polish i could see it on steam and i'd never guess it was a game jam project. maravilhoso!!!!

Muito obrigada por jogar! ^^

This is such a cute little game! I seriously dig the aesthetic - kinda wish you all had gotten to go all out and finish what you were aiming for. At this level of polish I KNOW you've got something good cooking up!. You probably know all this already, but maybe there's some stuff in here you haven't heard yet:

  • The UI is gorgeous, but maybe separating out Instrument Selection and Beat Placement into two separate rows could save you some UX troubles. I had a lot of trouble having to swap back between edit mode and selection mode and I feel like you could solve that without a toggle?
  • Speaking of the toggle, I don't know if it was just me but I think I kept adding wrong beats because I kept forgetting if I was in Edit mode or not. Maybe if you do keep it, you could make it more blaringly obvious when you're editing?
  • Maybe have a super quick Lerp for when Melon moves between beats? The jump between spots made it hard to read what was happening - even a quick motion between the two endpoints could help some.
  • I definitely know you've got the collision issues where you can end up in walls and such, I feel like with some quick checks you should be able to cover that no sweat.

Nice work, y'all! I hope you get to push this past a demo!

I really like this one! : D
the art style was enjoyable and and game idea was very creative, I would buy this game if it ever go out to be a full game! >:DD🔥🔥

Very cool idea to showcase for sure. It was a little unclear as to how to program in the movement at first but I got there! Awesome art and good music! Nice job!!!

pixel art and sound it fit so well, really nice.

If possible, can you please rate my game and leave a comment too.

Absolutely love the pixel art and the music, it's also such a creative spin on the theme!! Would be really cool to see this getting updated in the future >:3c

Thank you so much! We really want to make it happen.

Really great art, I absolutely love the style of the drum machine! I have to say though I found it a bit too tricky to understand how to program in the actions. I think an in-game manual for the machine would compliment this game very well! Well done, definitely a lot of work went into this!

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah this game is a tough one to get used to but we hope that once the player gets it they'll have a lot of fun exploring.
And yeah, an ingame manual is definitely in the plan

Really beautiful, and I love games where music takes center stage. Impressive art for a jam.

The music/beat inspired games I've seen this jam have been really interesting, and this is no exception.

This looks amazing,  and the team managed to come up with an interesting system,  although one might have to invest some time getting a handle on the sequencer.
Great work getting all this done  in a week!

SUCH a cute game and the visuals are absolutely stunning! It took a while to figure out the controls and I think using the same buttons to select and also place beats is a little confusing, but it was so satisfying when the correct sequence of moves lined up perfectly with the music. I'd love to see a fully complete version!

This was so cool! The style was amazing, such crisp visuals and pixel art! Kind of hard too...

So beautiful, I am working on a game with similar vibes and trying to get into pixel art, so this inspired me a lot. Good luck :D

I love the vibes of this one, and the interfacing with the mechanics is very unique. It's a bit fiddly to get used to, but I think it can definitely be a great system.

Wow, this is a REALLY cool idea it would be interesting to see a full game made out of this for sure. We kind of had a similar idea to use musical loops albeit yours is much cooler lol

Submitted(+1)

Great idea, art and music! I didn't fully understand which switch is responsible for what, but it feels very cool! The mechanics are similar to what we did at GMTK 2023 Jam (check it out https://arasti.itch.io/beatreversed), hehe :)
