Cute art and fun music. I like the use of boomerangs as your weapon, and the added difficulty by having to dodge them yourself as well. Would be fun to be able to pick up more boomerangs as you went along, both having more weapons to use and more projectiles to dodge.
Thanks for playing! I agree I'd love to add a shotgun and maybe a machine gun to add an extra layer of chaos!
Interesting concept, I at first thought I was supposed to catch the boomerang (partially because thats what you have to do in my game 😅) But it was a cool loop once I got the hang of it!
Thanks for playing! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
Good job!
I like the concept that you hurt yourself with the boomerangs! And great executions too!
For improvements: I think the game would benefits having more enemies, it was pretty empty (but I also a bug where I didn't had to recharge 😋)
And maybe just have the boomerang randomly go left or right? I'm not sure there is a point to have the player choose, personaly I just went close to the enemy to shot anyway ^^
Thanks for playing and the feedback, I totally agree, I initially had it way to fast and it was instantly a bullet hell. I'll definitely update to spawn curve.
As for the boomerang control, I was trying to give the player more agency and maybe add some more skill in trying to hit enemies and get combos.
The way those boomerangs come flying back is both thrilling and hilarious. The visuals are charming, and the sound effects make each throw feel weighty.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Thanks for playing!
Duck vs Banana, only that already it's enough to be fun, besides that the game it's more fun even
thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the silliness!
Quite a fun take with a new weapong on the survivors genre. It is really funny that you need to avoid your own boomerangs as well, it makes it more challenging.
In our own game we also use a boomerang, but wuite i a different way. It is nice to see it can be used in such different ways.
Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed!
I killed mysefl so many times and i'm not even mad. Nice game :)
I'm glad you enjoyed thanks!
I love games where I have to manage my bullets / watch out for things I spawn in myself. I think the missing ingredient here is being able to attract the enemies into the path of the returning boomerang or to get them to stop somewhere. Their constant movement makes it very hard to cue up a curving boomerang shot, and that would feel very satisfying!
Thanks for playing, I'll definitely look at updating the AI to make combos more ease!
I AM MY OWN WORST ENEMY ASHAJKSHJASH I KEEP DYING TO MY OWN THING ARGGGGHHHHHH GOOD GAME !!!
Thanks for playing, I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Presentation is very good. The hits were really inconsistent though, shots to the face would miss and shots way outside collision get hit sometimes, which drags the whole experience down. I also think the boomerangs should stick around for longer, so as time progresses the challenge of "trying to dodge your own shit" gets harder and harder and it discourages mindless spamming. Good stuff!
Thanks for the feedback, maybe there could be a powerup that increases the number of loops your boomerang does before it comes back at you! (also, totally heard about the hit reg)
Lovely art style and pretty fun game loop! I think I managed to break it because I didn't have to reload my revolver after my first death, made me go total Rambo and spam boomerangs right and left, until I realized my own boomerangs hurt me, then it became a bullet-hell final boss, hahaha! Really fun experience!
I'm glad you had fun! I think I might turn this into a pick up or power up you can use as a two edged sword
Also found your game through the reply. It's a good game, but the inconsistent hits are really annoying. The Idea where thee boomerangs also damage you is great.
thanks for playing! yeah, I spent a lot time trying to iron out the hit reg right down to the wire, I'll figure it out and update the game post jam
Found your game through your reply. It's fun! It'd be super cool if multiple enemies came at you in curved lines, so you could try and line them up and take them all out with one boomerang.
Thanks for playing, I really want to enhance the sense of player skill in my next iteration of the concept, it's a really good idea
I like that the boomerangs can loop back around and damage you - with some more gameplay enhancers like upgrades and items, and maybe some way to defend yourself from off-screen hyperspeed boomerangs, i think it could be fun! There was a couple points where an enemy was following me and the boomerang hit him once, then went around and hit a second time, that was a nice satisfying feeling.
Thanks so much for playing! yeah, I'm thinking through how to make the boomerangs more intentional!
The concept is excellent! The run and gun is fun! Gotta dodge the enemy while dodging my own attacks!
Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The boomerang idea is cool! Was shocked that they hurt the player at first, but then it became part of my strategy pretty quickly.
I especially liked the art and silliness of the game! Great job!
Hitting the enemies and getting hit was a little bit wonky, and ammo did bug out for me (in the good way, no reloads! ;) ). Overall, fun and memorable :D
Thanks so much for playing! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and I plan to polish it a bit after the jam to iron out some of those kinks, thanks!
Nice intepretation and integration of the theme in this genre! The overall gameplay feels pretty polished too :)
I would love to play more of this with more content too (maybe an upgrade system that also uses this looping mechanic?), I think there’s lots of potential to explore here!
Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed! we definitely planned to have pick ups and upgrades as part of the original design, but dropped in favor of polishing the core game loop. I really want to add a shotgun as a high risk, high reward option!
Oh yeah I totally get the trade-offs needed in such a tight jam period! I think your team made a good choice focusing on polish over more mechanics though
very fun and stressful! lol
Thanks for playing!
I find this game very a-peel-ing. Took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize I wasn't supposed to catch the boomerangs. The gorillas looked so pathetic after being taken out that I felt bad and didn't want to hurt them anymore, which didn't work out well for me. Nice work!
Thanks for playing, we're glad you had fun! (and duly noted on the catching the boomerangs, I'll put a note on the game description. )
Nice interpretation. It's a cool idea that you get damaged by your own "bullets".
Well polished game
Thanks for playing! We're really glad you had fun!
