The story, art and music worked together to create an excellent mysterious atmosphere for the entire game. I really love it so much!
This is great! And you provided a macos build--much appreciated!
I had to go to the comments to figure out there was another book I hadn't found--but it was a cool atmosphere and polished world. Really nice job!
Amazing visuals and storytelling.
The house and style is so cozy and mysterious!
I really liked this. 5/5 Narrative!
Well done :D
I really liked the atmosphere and how personalized every corner felt! I also got jumpscared by the owl outside the window so it’s a 10/10 from me.
the art in this was absolutely phenomenal! Really great work, it made the atmosphere great :D
It was a bit hard to spot the third book as others have said, but that's an easy fix. After that, the puzzle was well done too - i love forcing people to read >:)
I would have loved more puzzles and rooms to explore, but I totally get that this was a limitation of the jams timeframe - what you produced looked amazing, I really really liked it. these sorts of first person mystery games are right up my alley!
Also, i know it's an odd callout, but i specifically really liked the trees out the window - they looked so good!
This had a great vibe and atmosphere, fantastic work!
thank you for this wonderful comment and playing our game! <3
hahaha the third book is really my nemesis - I have to keep such things in mind for future projects, so that something like this doesn’t happen again! We would have loved to include more puzzles and one of the ideas was to incorporate the different pictures in such a way that they change after each reset and you suddenly see a completely different, perhaps even scary, drawing in the picture frame, with which you have to interact in some way.
To be honest, I recycled the trees from a previous project so you could at least see something outside the window, haha, I’m super glad you like them as much as I do!
I definitely loved the atmosphere of this game. I did get tripped up thinking that there were only two story books (three total books), causing me to end up doing a bit of brute forcing. The owls were cute, and the narrative was quite mysterious. I do wonder what other kinds of puzzles would have been able to fit well with the narrative.
Thank you so much for playing our little game!
The third book hidden inside the shelf is indeed not cleverly designed by me, I should have made it more clear to the user by a brighter color, or even giving out the first and third chapter in the visible ones, so that you at least have an idea that there must be a second chapter too.
Hey, thanks for checking out our game! Honestly, this is an underrated entry in this jam! There was a lot of detail in this game such as the hidden owls (Which I kinda hoped we'd be able to collect), the big owl portrait and the following eyes, and the lore! Very cool entry with nice sfx, music, and art as well. I thought the puzzle was fair as well. I did struggle a bit, but that's because I kept thinking the third book was the book by the 3 altars, but then I finally found chapter 3 haha. I was able to solve once I found chapter 3 though!
Hahaha, thank you so much for your kind words and for playing our game!
Yeah, unfortunately I didn’t design the third book very well and despite the black outline, it gets lost on the bookshelf. A lighter color or perhaps a smarter distribution of the chapters would definitely have been a better idea.
The owls are more or less an Easter Egg that I hide in all our Game Jams, so I’m even more pleased that they are so well received among our players, hahaha! The idea of collecting them is quite nice, and I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future projects. Thank you, we’re happy you enjoyed our little project!
Wow, all the modelling here is really impressive! Just saw this was made in Godot too, which is awesome.
Big fan of the 🦉🦉
Thank you so much for playing!
I better not be showing you the model files, haha. They were designed utterly unprofessional and there are so many faces and vertices that could have been easily avoided. But, as it happens in Game Jams, sometimes quantity over quality does play a big role unfortunately, as you don’t have the time to make the product as clean as you would like to.
The owls are a big fan of your work too, Godot-friend!
DAMMMNNNN, you made this 4 days. Holy crap. Music was soo good fr. Really smooth and thoughtful level design . Thanks for making it. Would appreciate the effort if you could rate my game too.
Thank you for playing and your kind words!
Luckily, this jam had 4 days instead of the 3 like last year, otherwise it wouldn’t have been possible, haha. Our composer put a lot of effort and love into the music, so thank you! <3
Tthis looks really nice and smooth! and it's so moody, I love the feeling. And all the hidden owls! The room feels lived-in.
Thank you very much!
I am still wondering if the room is originally inhabited by these owls or if someone else is responsible for it, hehe.
Very nice graphics and sound design, very polished, and good mechanic. Nice work!
Many thanks for playing and your lovely words!
cool entry, feels very immersive with the audio design, the lighting and the rain. The game feels pretty polished and has quite some story in it. I think it would be nice if the game loop was a bit more than just finding the order of 4 (?) tiles. Still, it's a pretty well-made game!
Thank you for playing and your words!
Unfortunately, the game loop is indeed extremely simple and offers little excitement, besides the atmosphere & solving the puzzle. Originally, we had a few more ideas but in the end we ran out of time, as it always happens at game jams haha, happy you liked it!
Fun puzzle game! Reminds of "The Room", a favorite of mine. Great work!
Thank you so much!
Really nice visuals and ambiance!
Out of curiosity how did you do the rain outside?
Thanks so much! We created this game in Godot, and the rain, in particular, was generated using a GPU Particle 3D node. c:
Thx!
Cute little puzzle, love the visuals and it was fun to read the books and solve it.
