Most out of the box interpretation of "loop" i've seen so far. sadly, reading under time pressure isn't my thing, but that's a me problem
This game really shines on the narrative side! For such a short game, you really get to know your colleagues and it lets you immerse yourself in your (work-avoiding) character. The writing is witty and refreshing, and the gameplay is lowkey addictive, despite the stress the time pressure puts on you. I really liked it, it's a well-executed and cool concept - great job!
Hey! That's a really cool game :D
I feel like there's a good balance between stressing the player and letting them breath to read :D I found it really cute that we had time to interact with our colleagues, it makes the game more polished, and the setting way more believable!
At one point my mouse straight up stopped working, I think Greg might have tempered with it >:( I'll have to change the batteries because of him...
I love it. The witty dialog got a good laugh out of me. Could use a bit more in the sound department though. Maybe some music?
Thanks! Absolutely agree, sadly, I didn't have time to find the fitting music.
Ah, that's alright. There's always time after the jam. Hey, by the way, feel free to check out our game as well.
I found this game extremely delightful! (Partially because a few years ago I also worked on an email-based game for a game jam and it brought back good memories.) A lot of submissions eschew narrative altogether so this was a really refreshing change. If you plan on working more on this at all, more thought towards audio would go a long way, but for a 4-day project this is incredible. Great work!
Fellow desktop simulator devs I see! Cool ideas and great art, well executed!
Yours looks great too, I'll give it a try before the voting is over!
This was fun! It's tough to make narrative things work and be coherent on a short turn around (especially when the gameplay hangs on people getting it!). Good job!!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Cool concept!
The characters and writing were great
The amount of narrative content made for a Jam is expectacular!! congrats!
Very cool game, especially the characters art and narrative.
Love the concept and the characters! Feels like an actual working simulator ^^ I couldn't play it for very long though cause of the amount of reading required
the characters felt very alive and real in this!! great art too :)
Really funny game! I wish I had enough time to read it all
Absolutely killed it on the style! The buzz words had me dying. And certainly a unique twist on the theme.
Made me feel like I was at work. Would have appreciated a wall clock to show the "time" until I clock out...
I'm glad I got to experience this wonderful work of satirical genius.
Very creative game, loved all the characters. Love my homie, Taxathor the Withholding. Fun game that reminded me a bit of Papers Please, except it felt like my actual job. I would appreciate it if it were even more hectic tho, as I felt I wasn’t stressed out enough. The art (and my homie Taxathor the Withholding) were definitely my favorite parts. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! It was more hectic originally, but my playtesters got very confused. I was considering adding an "endless" stage, but I just didn't have the energy anymore :)
Really glad you enjoyed the characters!
Great art and story, my one gripe is the lack of indication for when/how to progress, I think its 'time' based? It might be more interactive to be 'event' based, so you could have a 'confirm' button at the end of emails to trigger the next event or something, this lets people read at their own pace. The UI is nicely polished too, gj!
Hey! Thanks for the kind words and the feedback! That's very fair! Based on my two playtester sessions, this is what I settled on for the jam, because I decided I'd rather leave a bit more empty space than rush the player and make them miss something important. If I ever build something similar again or polish up this idea, I'll definitely go with a more sophisticated event scheduling.
This is really fun! The writing and characters are all great, and it was fun waiting to see what would pop into my inbox next. Great job!
This was an interesting concept. Was a little confused but then quickly realized how charming the gameplay was. Also, I really love the art, it's so pretty!
Love the character portraits!
