Ah, I was going for my record and the game just froze after picking up gasoline. It's fun tho.
Dunno if this console error is related or useful, but I'll send it just in case:
weird, I have no templates or cowdata directory, not sure where that error came from! I'm sorry it froze on you, super frustrating to have your run ended like that. I'm going to do a deep dive on how to get Godot's performance on html builds to improve.
Thank you for playing!
I love the drifting mechanics, feels so smooth. I barely uses the gun because I can't see the impact that it does to another cars. Overall, very nice game and art style!
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2531750556 for around 3hr47min to 4hr2min
Thanks again for playing on stream! It was very valuable to see someone else playing.
Good game, I really liked the color customization panel you added. Great submission 🙌
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Fun game! Quite a lot of small nice touches and quality of life. If I had some feedback, maybe the camera should be more zoomed out? I basically spend my time looking at the minimap haha. But other than that great concept and fun game, nice work!
Sorry it wasn't more clear, use the mouse wheel for zoom control!
Ohhhhhh, I feel dumb x) it probably was written somewhere as well - Edit : Well right there on the main menu xD
I really liked the hex map - made me think of an old Avalon Hill board game vibe! Had some slowing down at times but wasn't sure why
Sorry for the performance issue, I'm going to have to look at how to optimize Godot's web build export.
This was fun, i love the vibes and the art style and the car controls are super solid! Unfortunately it ran a little slow for me but i can see the potential, there's always space for one more car combat game :) Good job!
I'm glad you had fun, thanks for playing!
I really loved this! Such an unique artstyle and vibe of the game!
The concept is cool and really fun!
I really liked driving the car around and shooting the others, the only problem is that I got stuck and couldn't get out :P
Well done! :D
Ah that sucks being stuck! Was it like clipping into the walls?
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank you for the feedback!
No :P
I went into some kind of rat-hole on accident.
I think I got knocked in there. So my car was facing a wall from both ways and it was too tight to steer to the side.
Gotcha, thanks for the heads up. It should teleport a short distance after being stuck, but I might have only turned that on for the AI cars
Loved the mix of rally driving and looping—making donuts to rewrite your own path was a blast! The retro visuals and punchy soundtrack nailed the nostalgia. A heads-up on the zoom controls would help newcomers, but once I found it, the flow was smooth. Felt like a high-octane arcade throwback!
Thank you for the great feedback, I'm glad you had fun! I do regret not giving the UI more polish before the deadline, after then jam I'll definitely reset the zoom level to something further out and highlight those controls better. It's surprising what you get used to when you make the game but it's not that obvious to someone seeing it for the first time!
The aesthetics are super nostalgic. :D The game lagged quite a bit for me, but I managed. I'd definitely advise allowing the player to zoom out a bit, as it's a bit difficult to keep up high speeds and not crash into something. And maybe don't allow AIs to have the same color as the player.
Good job nonetheless!
Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out as far as you like- I'm amazed you could play zoomed in, better than me!
Damn, how could I have missed that? Maybe my window lost focus or something. Thanks for the reply! :D
Fun!
If you use the "minimap" as your main screen and the main screen as a minimap, the driving gets way easier.
I never noticed that, I'm glad you experimented with and enjoyed it!
The car mechanics remind me of Project Zomboid. Love the retro feel and the music!
I've been meaning to try that game, it looks pretty fun! Yeah my buddy killed it on the soundtrack, I'll pass that along.
A very chaotic but pretty fun game. I like the car movement!
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The rally driving with guns mechanic is a lot of fun and the early PC aesthetic is charming. The handbrake and terrain interactions add great depth to the gameplay. The loop concept is clever, especially how you can make donuts to create your own loops. I did notice some performance hiccups after restarting, but overall it’s a solid experience with good potential.
The early PC game Death Rally inspired the shooting and driving feel I was going for!
Thank you for the feedback, I'm looking into some ways to deal with performance on my web builds, it looks like switching from GPU rendering particles to CPU might clean it up, I'll test a bit after the jam.
In my game i also use GPU particles and it seems to slow down the game a tiny bit too, i think you could either lessen the amount of gpu particle nodes or opt for two different nodes one for web and one for exe's
either way it was a fun game. Good Job :D
This was reaalllyy cool. The controls didn't bother me at all. I love the early PC game aesthetic!
Thank you for the positive feedback! I was pretty happy with the car handling, but since I made it that's guaranteed, so it's nice to hear your experience with the controls.
A pretty cool game! the wasd controls messed with me a bit but I got the hang of it, big fan of the gameplay loop and the cars with guns
Thank you for playing! I tried making touchscreen controls (trust me, it's worse!), still need to refine my input menu a bit like add controller support maybe
Had a really fun time! A bit overwhelming at first, but in a good way, it’s quite easy to experiment with the controls, and when I got the gist of it it became really awesome. Handbrake mechanic and grass/dirt interactions really did it for me. Main issue was that it took me a while to understand that the blue lines showed me the objectives, and even so sometimes I would commit to finding one but it is super far away. Also, game runs fine but the performance takes a huge hit after using the "new game" feature. The aiming while driving is quite hard, even after some practice I would miss the items when I’m not under pressure, but I like a challenge so I wouldn’t say it’s bad.
-1 in creativity because I think this does not fit the theme.
Overall really good work! Probably really fun against humans (gave me agar.io vibes).
Thank you! Yeah I had a loop in there at some point but it was too boring so I put in terrain generation lol (do some donuts and you have a loop!). I really wanted to put in webRTC multiplayer (I might after the jam), but I burned up too much time trying to keep the AI from driving into walls.
Thank you for the tip about the new game option tanking performance. That was there for the windows build, after the jam I'll pull that off the web build, starting a new game can just be refreshing the page.
the driving was fun!
That's great to hear! The person I asked to test it had a hard time with the controls being relative to the direction the car was facing.
Don't forget to input your name before starting, for the leaderboard!
wow it is fun to be a war-mongering car. nice job!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Fun game overall, I don't know if it is because it is on itch.io, but it is very laggy and it's quite clunky.
It is a nice concept for the jam.
Yes that was something I was concerned about, I think being on html5 makes it tougher on slower cpu's because of single-threading. I noticed on my macbook air it would hiccup every time a gpu-particle was initialized for the first time. I tried to workaround this by firing every particle at the start, but don't think I was thorough enough. From my testing it should smooth out to 60-260fps after about 30 sec.
