Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
7 day Forest is based on dreams of leaving behind traces of our existence. Rather than competing, players tend to a shared forest where actions--digging soil, planting seeds, and watering others' plants--leave behind an act of care for wanderers they won't meet. We dream of transforming the language of games from taking to giving, from fighting to nurturing. Each player leaves behind a permanent change in our shared world that outlasts any person.
By every cycle's end, the forests become mementos of collective care that players, both old and new, can return to explore--walking through canopies that flourished in some and fading vegetation that struggled in others. Through this gentle, reflective simulation, players discover that the deepest connections aren't made through big gestures but through small acts of caring for something larger than ourselves. We believe that "a society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
7 day Forest incorporates generosity with multiple forms: to ourselves through mindful, meditative gameplay that invites us to be present; to invisible collaborators through patiently nurturing their plants; and to future players who will inherit the forests we've grown together. There's a lot of meaning in knowing your small acts, along with others, will create something none of us could build alone. After all, in caring for our shared world, we learn to see ourselves in others and others in ourselves.

Story - Good vibes and lush gardens. Nothing more, nothing less. The perfect game to pull up after a long day at work.
Mechanics - Very simple, yet still satisfying. Dig a hole, plant a seed, water it, and wait. I love the random acts of kindness that you can do as you're tending the garden. Restoring decaying plants that someone else planted was such a clever way to tie us all together in really beautiful ways.
Theme - Nailed it. Nothing more to say.
Audio/Visual - Visuals are minimalistically perfect and fit the minimalist style of gameplay. Everything just works SO well together.
Overall - You guys have definitely got something special here. I was a little overwhelmed when I initially logged in to a garden and was immediately met with something wildly lush and thriving and I wasn't exactly sure how I could leave a mark on such a big forest. But I found plants that needed watering and spots that needed flowering. It all flows so nicely, you just have to let the good vibes take you. Amazing work, very well done!

Beautiful game and beautiful incorporation of the theme! I love being able to nurture a garden with other players around the world. Definitely coming back to the garden tomorrow to help it grow!

when I had read the theme for this game jam, I felt the best way to incorporate generosity will be to make it a multiplayer co-op experience...but just the idea of doing it was so intimidating that I didn't even try - but here is one brilliant execution that I feel so happy to attempt! Such an ambitious idea, but something that resonates so deeply with the theme...can't even fathom the technical challenges that must have come with this; it did feel a bit unintuitive in the beginning - but all the precious things about this experience really seem to overshadow it!
We get to grow a garden together that keeps resetting regularly - a garden that is so visually striking and easy on the eyes! WOW. I hope you all are really proud of yourselves.

I really like the idea and how you understood the theme.
The art is beautiful and simplistic, and the little sounds are very soothing. Though some of the texts were a little hard to read, and maybe it would be nice for you to turn the camera to see the other plants.

I feel like this game is like stardew valley meet with go green movements xD , or maybe Dont starve game without any stress inducing. Very chill and cozy.

Visually unique. Definitely minimalist and solid gameplay loop. I do agree with the sentiment that it took a second for me to become familiar with the mechanics, but I really enjoyed the overall experience. Only teeny tiny nitpick is that some of the text is hard to read (the pink one against light background), but other than that, amazing!! I'm coming back every so often to see this garden (amazing replayability).

I agree with Byanna, I love the idea of this project, but unfortunately, I was too late to plant anything in the garden. Hope to get into a new Garden!
Don't worry, each forest lasts 7 real world days before new one opens, but each of you will be able to contribute 7 in game days. Everyday forest will expand to accommodate new players!
This game is amazing, the art style, the colors, the simple mechanics. I love that we can see who helped with the gardens. It was a bit hard to enter a garden as a new player though because everything was mostly grown and there were very few tiles left to interact with today. I think the garden I played was on it's last day so maybe I'll get a chance to help with a new garden tomorrow.

So cozy and beautiful! The UI, sound effects, and game concept are amazing! I loved it! I planted a lot of crops, and at first, it was a bit tricky to navigate them, but it just takes a little time to get used to. Wonderful game—I’ll definitely visit it again soon! :)

the ui and art style are so clean and lovely! a small question: when the quest is “water 5 plants” and all the plants are already watered, what should the player do?
