Yes, the idea behind this piece was to capture the moment the knight finally comes face-to-face with the dragon he must fight. I also agree there’s definitely still room to grow. I felt the image carried a sense of fear and conflict, which I aimed to convey through the composition. To express the knight’s mindset leading into battle, I used deep cello ostinato chords to represent the looming threat, layered with sharp staccatos in the strings and brass to evoke both fear and bravery. That contrast, to me, helped create the tension of an inevitable and intense showdown. :)
