You're so sweet!!! We absolutely loved your game too, and we're so glad we got to stream it! As a huge fan of pokemon, me and my partner had a blast with the beloved purplebottom ;p

I'm so glad you joined this jam despite the deadline, you were such a joy to have! And in the spirit of our game, we hope you never give up on your dreams! I personally would absolutely love to see a full game from you, so keep us posted! And if you ever need a helping hand or just someone to talk to, you can message me here, or under the same name on discord, youtube, or bluesky! Good luck, Ren! <3

Yeah, it was rough giving honest comments considering devs could get their vengeance by giving you a 1 star review bomb. This could have easily been fixed with private comments, I think.

I hope you aren't discouraged from pursuing your dreams due to this, there is so much more time to create what you love! If you ever need someone to talk to, you can message me here, or dm me under the same name on discord, youtube, or bluesky! I'd love to see what you make in the future! Good luck, dreamer! <3

Oh, I really like the 3rd option! I was brainstorming with some of the top placements (who were also kinda bugged by this even though they won!) and we all agreed that there had to be some way to fix the 1 star bomb ratings, as well as prevent the amount of reviews problem. This head to head option is great, and we also felt that reviews and comments should be hidden until the end of the voting period since you can't change your game anyway.

Also, my heart breaks after looking at the full list of corrected ratings under the bayesian average. So many fan favorites jumped up about 40 spots, while the games many are complaining about dropped by tons. It certainly does seem more fair, even without accounting for the review bombs. Since this is my first game ever, I had no idea itch had such a strange rating system that people have wanted changed for over 10 years, but experiencing it first hand, I want to make a change too!

I felt so bad watching some of the most beloved games drop below me -- I'd have given them my spot if I could! While I'm extremely proud of my game, I definitely don't think I deserved to be higher than Grim Was The Acre, that's insane!

Regardless, there's likely nothing that will be done to remedy this. I just hope that, in the spirit of the game we made, people will continue to pursue their dreams despite what puts them down. There were hundreds of spectacular games this jam with so much heart and soul put into them, and I truly hope no one gives up because of their itch rating! If anyone needs someone to talk to, you can message me on here, or under the same name on discord, youtube, or bluesky! Never give up, dreamers! And good luck! <3

We're so glad you liked our game! Yeah, despite the strange rating system, we've noticed we're on a lot of people's top five lists, and many said our game was their favorite! That means so much more to us than just winning this jam! And there were many deeply beloved games that didn't even hit top 50, so I'd say: don't worry about it! Sure, it's heartbreaking to those of us who joined this because Jacksepticeye or DuckyDev are some of our heroes in life, but the sooner you move on, the sooner you'll realize that your game was loved by the masses -- you made an impact on so many lives in just 4 days.

As is the theme of our game, we encourage you to always keep going! Dreamers are the ones who make the world go 'round, and one day, I believe we'll all achieve our dreams if we put our mind to it! This was my first game ever, so 41st place is spectacular! I only wished we could've hit the big screen to spread our positive message, but we know feel-good media is the hardest kind to push. So dream on, dreamer! I wanna see every one of you become the very best you can be! And if you ever need a helping hand, just shoot us a message on here, discord, youtube, or bluesky! Every voice is worth hearing, and we'd love to hear more from the creative hearts that made this jam possible! Good luck! <3

Would love for you to play our game in the last few minutes here!

Dating games definitely aren't my type, but I actually quite enjoy this one! When given the choice to speak to just two characters a day, I really honed in on Mori and Lady Jane, since they piqued my interest the most. At the beginning, I was dead set on going for Mori as a goth girl myself, but by the end, I was really pulled in by Lady Jane's powerful presence!

This was such a charming game, and I hope to see more from you in the future! Amazing work<3

Wow, I loved this fast paced rogue-like platformer! I was already stunned with the art, but I certainly wasn't ready for the smooth and satisfying gameplay that accompanied it! I love how there's tons of cards to choose from to add some replay-ability to the game, and our cat character is just so darn cute. Definitely an incredible play despite its simplicity.

This is an amazing work, and I hope you keep developing games with this beautiful art style! I'd love to see more from you in the future! <3

Sure! I'm playing games til the timers up, so have at it!

What a charming little puzzle game! I really like the art in this one, it's both so simple, but so unique! The puzzles were just the right amount of difficult, and it mixed aspects of platforming, fighting, and problem solving all into one small, pleasant game!

Amazing work, and I hope to see more from you in the future! <3

I really like the idea of humanity progressing so far that they "solved" death, but that in itself is its own problem. I have always wondered about the idea of an eternal paradise -- living for eternity sounds terrifying. Eventually, you will have truly done everything. And then you'll do it again. And you'll do it in every order. And do that again. Forever. It's a terrifying prospect and the only resolve I can find is in the idea that there is a point in time that you can either wipe your mind, or cease to exist. This game really highlights that fear, and presents it in a realistic way. Really, most of us are civil people, and would go through all the regular motions to finally solve our problems, regardless of the true gravity of them.

Spectacular work, and I'd love to see more from you in the future! <3

Haha! It's hard to remember when you've played so many, huh? I'll go check and play it right now if you wanna check ours out! Much love, and I hope you achieve your goal!

For sure! Thank you so much! We're just looking for 2 more plays to be done! If anyone plays and reviews our game, we will do the same in return!!! Reach those goals, dreamers! <3

https://itch.freezing.top/jam/jamsepticeye/rate/3937781

I know we all got our own goals, and mine is just 2 more reviews! If you play and review my game right now, I'll do the same for yours til the timers up. I know this seems shallow, but I'm more so doing it for my sleeping boyfriend who I want to wake up to good news after a rough day. Thanks so much, and drop your link with your game, too. Good luck!

Hello, I'm trying to get just 2 more ratings so my boyfriend will wake up to our goal! if you play our game, I will be forever grateful. Playing yours now!

What an absolutely stunning game, I can't believe I almost let it slip out from between my fingers! I loved that the map was perfectly built to be not too confusing, but still clear in what kind of upgrade you would need to continue. It progressed at a perfect rate, and let's not gloss over the perfect graphics! Absolutely stunning visual style, amazing story, and most of all, I'm glad I got to reunite Haru and Kyla at the end <3

This game was absolutely phenomenal, and I hope you continue to make amazing games for us all to enjoy in the future. I'll see you at the podium, Mr. Blumbo! ;p

A super cute game where you set ghosts up on dates with each other! There are so many unique ghosts, and every single one is adorable in its own way!!! It's already so cute for just a jam game, but if you were to make it a full fledged game in the future, I could totally see this being like a multiplayer game where you and your friends can upgrade your building to have more floors and seat more people! So cute, I absolutely adore it!

Spectacular work, I really hope to see more from you in the future! <3

Ahh, I see! Thank you!

What a fun little dungeon crawler game! The fighting was pretty satisfying, and I liked that all three bosses were unique! I also appreciate that each of the bosses is like the leader of one of the mini creature forms! My favorite little guy was probably the fire throwing imp/satyr things, they're super cute! Unfortunately, I beat the game before I was able to buy any of the upgrades, so I'm not sure what they all do, but that's just because the attacking was built in such a straightforward and intuitive way! It was very satisfying gathering a crowd of enemies for one big slash!

Overall, an incredibly fun and easy dungeon crawler for anyone to enjoy! I never got to see the fish/venus fly trap guy on the cover, but I hope to see more games from you in the future! Great work! <3

This is actually such an incredibly designed puzzle game that fits the theme in such a unique way! I like that you kept it simple by only implementing the two other elemental lizards, as it leaves the game at just the right difficulty for a real thinker of a puzzle. I swear, all of you puzzle making geniuses game out of the woodworks for this jam theme, and I am just drowning in these spectacular gameplay experiences.

For the record, I hit level 5 before I got stuck, so if there's any more content, I'd love to hear about it! Maybe you could even add other lizard elements in later, harder levels that do different things! Like a darkness lizard that teleports you somewhere specific when you step on darkness traps!

Also, the hidden sam on every level was very cute ;p The only thing I would change is maybe highlighting the egg nest a little more. It took me a while on the tutorial to figure out why I wasn't progressing when laying my egg in the cave. Turns out, it was actually the little brown nest I needed to lay my egg in to continue my elemental lizard family!

This game definitely gets an incredibly high rating from me -- it's no surprise that all the puzzle making developers are wise to what makes a game enjoyable, you smart lot! I hope you continue to create games in the future, as I'd be super excited to see what you come up with! Spectacular work! <3

Hitting top 10 would be a dream! My partner and I actually just joined this jam because he said that for my birthday, he wanted to get me into a Jacksepticeye video since we've both been watching him since the Happy Wheels days! What was that, 10 years ago? Haha.

But even if I don't make it, it has truly warmed my heart to see so many kind people say that our game was their favorite, or that it reminded them of their favorite games! I've had people compare it to Castle Crashers, Little Big Planet, ENA, Lobotomy Corporation, and many more of our absolute favorites games. I'm absolutely ecstatic that I would ever be labeled as the things that I always looked up to in other peoples' eyes. It makes me think that maybe I could make a difference in the world the way that those creators have made a difference in mine.

Thanks again for your kind words, and I wish you the same luck in achieving your dreams! After all, that's what our game is all about! ;p

WOOOO! I finally beat one of these dang puzzle games, haha ;p

This was a very charming game with great characters, and incredibly impressive for only being made in 2 days! I really appreciated that the levels built up slowly to introduce each new mechanic, whether it be an attack, a movement, or a new enemy type. I'd love to see more of this kind of game, especially on my phone for a little puzzle on the go! The little death guy is definitely my fav, and also the *dead* dialogue box is hilarious.

Super cute story, I hope to see more from you guys in the future! Great work! <3

Thank you so much! Yeah, we've gotten a lot of complaints about the sticky notes and item screens. We actually totally had it on our list of things to do, we just forgot we hadn't actually changed it! The item select screen is suppose to have little "select" buttons in the same computer tab style under each one to show that you're picking that item and not just getting both!

As for the stick notes, I'm not really sure how to make it more clear that it's the health, perhaps with more dialogue? The point of the story is that you're trying to reach people in the only way you can across the internet -- with your words! So with each attempt, you come in with your set of kind words, and if you fail, you try again with a new set! Trying new words doesn't necessarily mean your previous words didn't hold meaning, it just means they weren't the right one to reach that person! So yeah, if I had to fix that, I'd have probably added more dialogue if we had one more day.

Thanks so much for playing our game and letting us know your critiques! It means the world to me to have so many people playing my first video game, and I'll make sure to hold onto your words for future projects! Clarity seems to be our weakest point, but luckily, it's not too hard of a fix! Much love to you. Never give up, dreamer! <3

Woah!!! Is that my totally epic sister who made the cover art for this game?!!

This was an incredibly fun game, and one of my favorites by far! I loved playing as all the different creatures to solve the puzzles, and how each creatures was Halloween themed for the spooky month! I'm a huge fan of puzzle games, so I may have a bit of bias, but this game is getting one of my highest ratings yet! Spectacular job, and I hope to see more from you in the future! <3

P.S., I'm a monster ;-;

I really like how you gain new cards with unique abilities, and each checkpoint gives you an area that would be ideal to utilize the item on. The animations are almost too smooth, and the map is very cool. I did let out a bit of a laugh at my immediate death upon opening the game with no abilities yet, but obviously, that was intentional. The only criticism I would give is that I think there shouldn't be as much of a limit on how many times you can use each attack. I often ran out of attacks far before every enemy was dead, even when I'd conserve my aoe's for super compact crowds.

This was a super fun game, though, and I'd love to see more from you in the future! Amazing work! <3

Super fun game! I've always loved these sort of goofy one off puzzle games that riff off of reality, they remind me of simpler times. I was able to find 9/10 ways to die, but I just couldn't get the last one! I'd like to see the ending of the game when you successfully die in every way.

It was also really hilarious to see how simple it is for us to think of ways to die. The second I saw the microwave and power outlet, I was like "alright, where's the fork" LOL.

This is definitely one of the most fun games I've played so far this jam, I really hope you keep making games like this in the future! Amazing work! ;p

Ha! You really have a way with words! That's a beautiful way to describe someone <3

I absolutely adore both of the characters appearances, and I love their differing abilities! I like the large sweeping AOE slash on the first girl, and the ranged dual pistols on the second. The first two levels are the perfect amount of difficulty for learning the game, though I might say the third is a tad bit too difficult, haha. I couldn't beat it, but I could tell that the point was for you to die on purpose to use the ranged weapon. I think this could be improved by making it so you can see the enemies on that stage from the center platform. I was kinda just shooting blindly and hoping it would hit, but they never did.

Also, the first person perspective when you die is really cool, though a little disorienting. Perhaps a little pause when zooming back out before resuming gameplay would help recenter the player. But I really enjoyed seeing from the 2D character's perspective, that's super cool and unique!

Spectacular job on this, I really liked it, and it's one of the highest ratings I've given this jam! I hope you continue to work on this game post jam, or any games really, as I'm very excited to see more from you in the future. Amazing work! <3

Aww, thanks for letting us know your favorite character! She was definitely one of my favorite coloring jobs I did, along with the final girl in the beauty standards level! Thanks so much for playing our tricky little beat-em-up, it means a ton to us as first time game devs!!! Keep going, dreamer! <3

Yes!!! Go, Sam, Go!!! <3

I really liked this one! It was a decently difficult platformer game with a super cute story! The plot is a bit absurd, but in a sweet way, like a children's cartoon. I also liked that there wasn't the typical platformer game spikes -- they were mice shaped like spikes! Shoutout my boy Eagly, and here's my high score! As a fan of hard platformer games like Super Meat Boy, I really hope you continue to make games, and I'd love to see more from you in the future! Spectacular work!

A fun little puzzle game with a whopping 10 levels for a jam! It wasn't too hard, and the characters moved at a nice pace that wasn't too fast nor too slow! The aesthetics were charming, especially the little portrait changing when you swap between the person and the ghost, and I liked that they helped each other escape the mansion! And level 10 was really cute because I was expecting to start as the human, but was actually the ghost blending in with the portait!

Overall, a very cute and simple puzzle game to pass 10 minutes with. Puzzle games are something I wish to see a lot more of, so I hope you continue to make games in the future! Amazing job! <3

What a sweet little story about change! I really appreciate the message you're trying to send here -- I've experienced a lot of major sudden changes in my life, and they can be halting at times. But we all have to find our blue jay, the one who lets us know that things will be alright both through words and by example! And when times get really tough, sometimes we have to be our own blue jay, or the blue jay for someone else seeking guidance.

Amazing little story, and I hope to see more from you in the future! Great work! <3

A very short and cute game! I love the little fox and crow, and the art is beautiful. I really struggled with the blocking minigame, though I think I could've gotten it with a second chance. I wonder if there's a different ending if you save the ferret from his disease?

I also really liked that you can jump on the names in the credits page, it's a very entertaining detail! Shoutout my little crow buddy for doing the talking for me, I'm a shy guy. Great work, and I hope to see more from you guys in the future!

I like this idea a lot! I've seen a lot of games where creatures just spawn on screen, and you kill them, but this one makes it so that you have to exact your revenge on the ones that actually hit you! Rather than health, you have a timer for vengeance -- it really makes me actually want to perform my wrath on these puffer fish! Here was my high score, it honestly is probably not too hard to beat, I just wasn't super good at this game, haha.

Great work, I hope to see more from you in the future! <3

This was a really fun, easy to understand, and clever game for the jam! I love that you used the death is an opportunity idea to the fullest, making sure that your corpse leaves behind helpful objects! And that last level is cursed. I wasn't sure if it was actually possible, but I did give it a hearty 30 attempts LOL. As a Super Meat Boy fan, it's in my veins to try to do those pixel perfect jumps.

Fantastic game, I hope to see more from you in the future! ;p

Thanks! Yeah, I really love that ViralConfection made those 3D animations in the middle of our 2D game! I was telling him "you have to, people love mixed media in games!!!" but I wasn't sure he'd get the chance to with all the programming he was already doing. And I'm so glad you like the cat monster, he was the first creature I designed and animated! He makes for a pretty nice tutorial battle, and he's really cute in the daycare area.

I just finished playing your game and left a review, it was really fun! I hope you keep making video games for the world to enjoy, so keep going, dreamer! <3

Oh, yeah, we totally just named it "Jamsepticeye Project" or something dumb like that in the files, sorry! We would change it, but we don't want to be disqualified for changing anything other than game breaking bugs. Hopefully people can still find it because of the little Sam on the cover. Thanks so much for playing, and we're glad you enjoyed all the creatures and music! Good job, dreamer! <3
