This game is hard hahahah but these visuals are polished damn

Developer

Yeah oops sorry. Thank you!!

Submitted(+1)

No it's not a bad thing - it's not impossible, just difficult which makes it fun

Submitted(+1)

Really great job. I like the added touch of being able to change the colors.

Developer

<3 thank you!!

Submitted(+1)

Nice concept and very, very pretty art
It would be great if you could add localization for the keyboard though

Developer

Thank you!
Oh yeah I forget there are different types of keyboards, I'm not even sure what the equivalent keys would be!

Submitted(+1)

Some game engines have functions to convert inputs to local keyboards but I don't know if it's the case for Construct

Developer

If you mean having it change W, S, A and D to their equivalents, I'd have to create separate sprites for them too.

Submitted(+1)

It sure would really be a pain to do if you're using sprites rather than text, especially given the number of possible layout

Developer

Yeah I usually use sprites :S

retro arcade itch scratched!

really enjoy the aesthetic and the music here as well. Very nice game!

Developer

Thank yooooo! <3

I really like the core mechanics. I’m not sure if the timing of the button press is intentional, but it added a bit of challenge — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I love the retro arcade vibe from the art and music. Overall, a really nice game for the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for for giving a good play!
Yeah I really like the retro-style in my games lately!
The music is chiptune remix of the song played in Final Fanasty 9, the stage fight scene this game was inspired by.
Also cute sheepicorn!

Submitted(+1)

I cleared the first stage, but had some trouble where I think I wasn't timing things right on the other stages.

Concept, music, art, and game are all solid: nice work!

Developer

Yay thank you for playing!
The game also isn't 100% glitch free.

Submitted(+1)

Incredible art and feeling to the whole game :) I must be doing something wrong since I'm not impressing many people hehe

Developer

If you're having fun, you're playing it right!
Thank you for popping by!

the art in this is REAL nice. Extra points for making the web page look really nice, I think its cool when little jam games get that treatment. The sound in this game is really nice too, it fits perfectly and expresses the action well. The gameplay I'm not so sure on, but let me be clear that I am VERY bad at rhythm / quick time type games, so I am probably not the best judge of this game's gameplay lol. I did manage to get 10/10 on the first stage though !

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing! I really enjoy making assets and making things look pretty! I'm less strong at gameplay and sometimes that shows, sorry!
It works mostly as intended though!

Submitted(+1)

the art is fantastic

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

I love how it is a performance, I would never imagine a game with only quick time events, feels satisfying. I think a more intense music can add to the feel. Great job!

Developer

Stage 3's music is a little more intense!
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you had fun!

Submitted(+1)

The art and the gameplay is so smooth and fun

Developer

Yay thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Great music and art. Wasn't expecting it to be a sword play game but really cool.

Developer

Thank you! What were you expecting?

Submitted(+1)

An arena battle.

Submitted(+1)

Bro. This game is awesome and spot on vibes. Impeccable work, congratulations.

Developer

Thank you sooo much! <3

Submitted(+1)

The shader is amazing, I really like it. Awesome stuff.

Developer

Thank you for playing! <3

Developer

Thank yoooou!

This is a very beautiful project. I really enjoyed the project and QTE are something that can normally be difficult or tedious for players, but this game doesn't make me feel that. You did such an awesome job on this project! :)

Developer(+1)

Wow thank you for such high praise!!

Submitted(+1)

The visual really stands out! It seems that spamming the correct button with the QTE prompt present gives a lot of scores. I once was able to impress 14 out of 10 spectators in the end.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you!
Wow to think I never even tried that in play-testing. Thank you for pointing it out!
14/10? Your performance must've been excetionally impressive!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome. Love quick time events. Cool game!

Developer(+1)

Me too, thank you so much for playing!

Hi WeirdBitGames! I just played your game, Stage Knight, and I just LOVE the gameplay and design. From going about with the quick reflexes, the soundtrack, the amount of moves you have, this game really holds no barriers and expects you to act fast and be smart. Also, I was pretty surprised that this game was made using Construct 2, which is something I'm weirdly nostalgic of, even though I barely even used the engine. Some feedback I have with the game is that even if you have good reflexes and manage to dodge (or almost) everything the game throws at you, sometimes you don't even manage to rack up a high score, but I'm not sure if that's increasing difficulty between the three stages, but if it is, racking up a high score by having good reflexes would've heavily benefited the game from being unforgiving, but I've DEFINENTLY enjoyed my time with this game. Overall, 4/5 stars! BRILLIANT craftmanship, WeirdBitGames!

Also, WeirdBitGames, if you have the time, if you would check out my submission, Duckie 'n' Egg, and play and rate it, I would VERY MUCH appreciate on what you're doing, and it would really mean a lot to me. Cheers and good luck on your indie game dev career! ⭐❤️

I shall indeed try out the games of everyone who's commented here soon!
Thank you so much for such lovely praise! <3

the art is 9/10 in my opinion the visual designs character animations and even the crowd,

but I felt like at first I did not know that I was doing and got 0 out of 10 hits, the second try I won with 10 out of 10 hits so it gets repetetive after completing each scene,
I feel like I did not have time for looking at the health and didn't need to as long as I pressed the right key in time,

the game is solid but personally I do not like games with this combat style so I am not the target audiance, if the mechanics were up to me I'd have it either turn-based with RNG or real time with fast movement and platforming,

even as is the execution is awesome, good job!

I shook your hand Now you shake mine bruh ;)

Developer(+2)

Wow thank you!
Sure, did you submit a 20 second game too?
