How does the game fit the theme?
The core gameplay loop relies on progressing through each level by choosing a new upgrade, but you're also forced to take a debuff. This fits the theme as you have to weigh your risk/reward balance to get as far as you can and manage the chaos of your own choices.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The map tileset, the player character sprite, the enemy sprites, the UI icons, and a handful of sfx come from free to use packs and sources such as Kenney assets. A full list of credits is on the game's page.

Everything else - the code, music, and sound effects - are all made from scratch.

Simple yet enticing, love the i-frame dodge(help a lot with skellys’ bows), made it over 10 levels and after a while the risk and benefits ending up cancel each other and there’s not much of a change in balance, so a little tocuhup on risk:reward ratio would be a great addition!

I would blame my lack of skill in this game on a made up balancing issue, but I can't find any. Great gameplay, great visuals, would definitely recommend.

Game Feel in your game is amazing. It's really satisfactory to hit the enemies cause the precise controls and the visuals and sound effects, congrats for that, and the gameloop is really fun, each round is short but challenging, and earn a reward in so short time space is really addicting! Good job in your game! Just relating a bug: In round 14 I seamed to got stucked in the game, after supposedly have killed every enemy... After the screenshot I got shot by an enemy, so I realised that was an invisible skeleton in left corner of the screen, after I killed it the game continued.  I survived until Round 16. Great game!

Unfortunately I don't exactly how to recreate the issue. I was just playing normally and in round 14 the run simply didn't end, even though I apparently killed every enemy. So finally the skeleton tried to shot me and I could shoot in that place and kill the invisible enemy.

A charming game in the style of Vampire Survivors, but why did you decide to make shooting click-based?

It was conceptually more of a shmup than a vampire survivors clone. I also don’t play VS-likes or shmups at all so I guess it kinda got blended together instead of cloning a particular style.

Also I do like how needing to actively aim and shoot adds to the difficulty when you’re also trying to dodge enemies and focus on a target.

Great idea with the upgrades giving you both buffs and debuffs. Maybe it would work slightly better if buffs outweighed the debuffs so as to keep progressing. Overall, I enjoyed playing the game, but it was too hard for a turn-based person like me, so I’m proud that I survived 6 rounds.

Thanks for the feedback! And I appreciate you sticking through it despite not being your genre <3. The buffs for the most part actually should outweigh the debuffs. Extra damage is +.25 but reduced damage is like -.15 I think. Same with the size modifiers. The stats aren’t exactly shown though so that’s fair, and it could be balanced better/more dramatic so you feel stronger the longer you last. Appreciate the input ^^

Super fun game! I was able to make it to round 12 on my first go. I love all the upgrade options and how polished everything was!
