Very Artistic and mature game. but i cant figure out what to do in 3d maps

Developer

Thank you. In the 3d maps, it’s literally just get to the exit (and collect some lives) . If you are having difficulty with that, press the start button and it will show a map :)

The art is so cool!

Sometimes the damage is inevitable, which is quite frustrating.

Developer

thank you! You are correct, however, you have the chance to gain lives in the “3d” levels. This is just the inherent issues with procedural placement I’m afraid. Thank you for playing though :D

Really cool aesthetic for the interpretation of the jam!

Developer

Thanks! I appreciate it

I wanted to play it, but the game screen was just a black screen :(

Developer

oh no! Do you mind me asking which browser you are using please?

Submitted

I use Google Chrome

Usually when I enter the game page, first of all it has Run Game button in game window, but on your page it's only empty screen and fullscreen button

Submitted

Oh, it works from mobile phone

Developer

that is very bizarre. I have tried on chrome/edge and safari on macOS and I’ve had no problems… hopefully whatever it is, it goes away soon. But I’m happy to hear it works on mobile for you. That’s the best way to play it anyway :D

Submitted

I don't know what it was, but now game works corrcetly from pc too, haha

I played it, and the game design is really cool. It's like a retro portable console, I like it. But for me controls is little uncomfortable. I click on the arrow(I mean virtual arrows, on the console), but it's registering as I clicking two buttons and charecter goes obliquely. I'm not sure if I explained it clearly.

Developer

if you mean diagonally unintentionally, then I understand you. The D pad is essentially a 3x3 grid so that diagonals are possible, but can also mean they can result when unintended by the player.

Great game! So creative.. Nice GUI as well!

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it :D

Very creative! Fun game. Not sure if intentional, but about 1/3 of the mazes didn't have enemies?  Great submission!

Developer(+1)

hey! Thanks for playing. Intentional? Well, sort of… they are procedurally generated and the math early on allows for few or even none to be in the map. As you go deeper, there is a higher chance of more enemies

Totally unique idea with cool twists and challenges. Well done! I especially liked how the visual after image helped me navigate for a bit while I was trying to visualize the maze. Only thing I disliked was when red dots spawned very close to me at the beginning of a round.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for your words. You are correct however and this is an issue with procedural generation. After the jam finishes I will throw out a little update that eliminates the spawning of enemies so immediately close to the player start point.

I really like the approach u had in here, i can see its all coding (including assets) and it is amazing, i havent seen any other game like that.

Developer

thank you, I’m happy that you appreciate it.

I believe you have a profound understanding of computer graphics. As a novice game developer, I cannot achieve such a level of programming.

Developer(+1)

That is very kind of you to say, however, I must disagree. It can take more than bare code to make fun enjoyable games. Imagine if all games were like mine… it’d be the 1980s/1990s again. I have literally just played your game and the artwork (the stills) are something I would really struggle to do.

Submitted

The games of the 1980s/1990s also had a unique aesthetic, isn't it?

However, thank you for recognizing our artwork. This is our team's first work, and we will try our best to make more creatively games!

The 3D FPS mode is cool. Maybe it would be better if the full game is in 3D. But I think it would be much more work.

Just I am not sure, that I am always able to dodge the enemies. :D

Developer

THANKS FOR PLAYING. I ma currently writing a full "3d£ version... well, a relative of... it'll be much more intense :D - you are correct though, sometimes you literally have to sacrifice a life or two... but you can get them back in the "3d" levels. I let you know when I have a playable version of the full "3d" game. its 90% done anyway

Developer

hey! So, I have uploaded a playable version of what I mentioned if you care to have a go. It’s not quite done yet but is (or should be) fully playable. This isn’t a part of a jam or anything else… so yeah, if you want to give it a go…:https://justjeffs.itch.io/dead-reckoning

Really cool art direction. love the switch to first person. It came at the perfect moment as a palate cleanser. Nice work!

Developer

THANK YOU! You are absolutely spot on :)
