WOW that was great! Very immersive atmosphere
Thank you! I'm so happy you found it immersive. Creating a strong atmosphere was one of my main goals! :D
Amazing game, I simply completed the whole game and it gave me a lot of satisfaction, just amazing story, the first person control, Theme, Audio all looked awesome. Just wow wonderful game.
I don't really have any suggestion for such a nice game.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so happy to hear that you played it all the way through and that you enjoyed the story. Hearing that the game gave you a lot of satisfaction is the best feedback I could ask for :D
GAMEPLAY: Everything worked as expected, and not a bad take at all. The hard cut between "burn typical objects" and "burn memories" threw me out a bit, though.
VISUALS: Most of my complaints here are nitpicks--the look of the snowed-up windows, the font size cutting off flavor text. The overall look is solid for the setting, and the light of the fire is well executed.
AUDIO: The 'touching violin' was better than silence, but didn't end up doing much for me. The protagonist talks too much about obvious things, and the voice actor, while competent, isn't enjoyable enough to push past that. Otherwise, the sound effects are, well, effective.
THEME: The extra narrative touch of the mechanical resource puts it above average. Again, though, the hard cut sours it a bit.
I also have to say that I found the cookie easter egg before reading about it, and just about lost it. Dashing around the house was terrible for the atmosphere, but it was great fun. Props!
Hey there! Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate you going into detail with concrete specifics on where potential for improvement is. That helps me a lot for further game jams :)
When a game makes your computer feel like a frying pan and takes 3 minutes to load, you know it's going to be amazing.
I really loved the story arc and careful mood setting of this game. I felt like I was part of a story, and that was what kept me hooked and playing through the entire game. The music, sound effects, and dialogue were all perfectly set to create a perfect mood balance as well, and what first started as a little unnerving and scary quickly turned to remorse and sadness. The level design was great as well, as I felt stuck in the cabin with the player. The intro is also a nice touch and sets the scene quite well.
I did encounter a small glitch where I couldn't move the camera a certain way and had to swivel around the other way to look where I wanted, although this wasn't too big of a deal.
A beautifully designed game and story, especially impressive in the contxet of a week long game jam. Well done! 👍
Hey there, thank you very much for this in depth feedback! I highly appreciate your kind words :)
Good one! I really liked how you approached the theme!
I think the polish of the game is where it stands out the most. The sound is great- it's not often that you see voice acting in a jam game. The music also fit the atmosphere.
As for the graphics- cool usage of bloom, and shading really made those low-poly object shine!
Over all- really liked it. Didn't expect a story based entry with this theme, and that goes double for such a good one. This is a great example, of how polished minimalist approach goes a really long way!
Great work!
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you noticed efford that went into polishing and smoothing out mechanics :D It's usually an invisible efford if the work is done well.
Obviously this game wasn't focused on its gameplay features and more on story and atmosphere, but maybe a bit more gameplay (like puzzles?) would have been great. The game was otherwise really well done and reminded me of some indie games like Firewatch, Killer Frequency, etc...; Also, I found the first Easter egg!
The graphics were great and cleanly realized (nice “easter egg” with the Goed image).
The sound was good and the voice acting REALLY added to the atmosphere.
The theme was implemented in a nice way that tied into the story.
All in all - a solid entry for this jam. Great job!
Thank you for the feedback! I absolutely agree, more gameplay would've really added to it. I've massively underestimated the time that went into crafting a narrative and voicing a game that I neglected that part.
What a beautifully made game! The concept itself is so unique.. memories as a resource! The execution was also amazing.. all of the movements and actions felt really smooth (i had a little trouble at first with the mouse sensitivity, but then i fixed it later).Artwork also really nice.. the feel of being locked in a cabin and then bright at the end. The music and story really sold it for me though.. great mood built and tied in really well with the story. I played all the acts and was saved at the end yay!
Thank you for the kind words! It really means a lot to me that you enjoyed it :)
