This was a fun little game to play—mainly thanks to the humor, which was really well done π
I also especially liked how some characters came back to follow up on their previous questions—that was a nice touch! Fun cute graphics and audio was ok.
Overall, itβs a pretty simple but solid game, but still fun to play through a few times and unlock new characters. Well done in Scratch also!
A nice jam entry—and a good laugh! ππ
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad you appreciated the humor and unique style. I was going for something really different with this entry. It's also great to hear that you noticed the progression in the character's questions - something I hoped would be easily noticeable.
And lastly, thanks for hosting the jam - I had a ton of fun working on the game and enjoyed returning to participate in another GoedWare Jam. Hopefully I'll also be back for the next one as well :)
Really clever concept! Managing money and reputation with every word you say makes every choice feel meaningful.
I loved the humor and personality in the characters — playing as the mayor of Complaintown was way more fun than expected.
Hard Mode adds a nice layer of stress too!
Great balance of strategy and silliness — super enjoyable overall
This game was hilarious to play through, love the dialogue and choices. Also I think I've never seen a left handed cursor before, it felt weird but it adds to the experience. I'm not sure what feedback to give, if anything, it would be to maybe have a skip button for encounters I had already seen before so I can see more of the game.
Hey, thanks for the review! There is currently around 20 different unique situations, and you should be able to experience each one before getting a repeat. I didn't even notice that cursor quirk - I just drew it myself without really realizing it lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the game :D
Jean crashed my game ππ or maybe that was intentional as I gave her the keys to the mayor's office... Anywho this is an awesome game! I loved how the future rounds play off of the context of your last interaction- for example, the beans girl first accidentally buys a ton o beans, then gets them on someone's car the next time you meet er, amazing continuity. It's fun, the art is consistent, the music fits and the ai voicelines are awesome! As far as the theme goes, I get that I have tons of choices, but I don't exactly feel like everything is a resource, though I do see what you were going for.
Thanks for your review! Jean wasn't supposed to crash your game. I guess I underestimated her level of destruction. I'm glad you noticed the progression, and it's great to hear that you enjoyed playing. I appreciate the feedback!
This is a pretty original game! I loved the voice over and the art style!
The characters are random, cute and funny! Esp the devil like one!
Not sure how much it aligns with the theme, but the game was worth it.
I had made something similar for one of the earlier game jam :)
The theme was definitely a challenge, and I agree that the integration could have been a bit better. The idea was that you needed to strategically control how you managed each resource and made decisions based on what you could afford. Thank you so much for your feedback!
What a great game, it is super original, I liked that each run varies and that there are new characters, it is very entertaining and very addictive and how the decisions you make affect the future, definitely a great game!!!
I appreciate your review - I tried to focus on adding enough characters so that there would be variety throughout new runs. Thank you so much for playing!
That was fun. I liked the lady who came in and straight up said "Hey, want bribe" and that giving a car to a 3-year-old described as mischievous and cunning in her description mysteriously increases your popularity (did she have a hand in it?) :D
My only suggestion would be have the game pause while your reading profiles.
Hey, thank you so much for playing! I appreciate the kind review. The game does pause while playing - the timer stops and you cannot click anything. The only reason the voicelines continue to play is if you want to read the profiles while the voice is talking to save time.
wow this game is very impressive especially for being made in scratch, I know how annoying scratch can be. really cool game!
Yes, Scratch has a lot of limitations, I am trying to move towards a more professional engine at the moment for future jams. Thank you for the feedback!
Original idea and funny looking graphics! Nice!
I might not ba a great mayor, though :)
The game was so fun!! Loved the different situations and the options you offered. The artstyle was really unique and it fitted very well to the overall vibe! Also, loved the fact that you could hear the character's voices instead of just being simple text! Great work :D
I'm so glad you enjoyed! Thank you for the kind words :D
This is incredible for a scratch game! I loved the music and the funny situations! I also love how you can see information about each character, and how some characters have funny names (like Mike Rophone). You did a great job!
P.S. spending $100 on the rainbow background was definitely worth it.
I appreciate the review! I completely agree - who needs strategy when you can have a perfectly good rainbow disco party? Also great to see that people actually click on the characters and read more about them, I was worried that I wasn't clear enough on that feature. Thank you so much for playing :D
Really funny and quirky! I love such games where your decisions matter and you have executed this really well! The characters themselves were interesting and so were the situations. The basic idea of your words being a resource which impacts your reputation was done really well! Loved the artstyle as well :) One issue i felt in my run was that if i took a decision early on which cost me a lot, that sort of restricted my further decisions. For example i spent 300$ on the first decision itself! so i had no choice but to take the less optimal decisions immediately thereafter. So maybe the cost of the right decisions early on could be made a little less so that there are more options. Just my 2 cents :) Great job overall, congrats!
Thanks for taking your time to write a review! The game is designed this way on purpose, as it forces you to think in a very strategic way and think before you make a decision. A good tip is to save your money early, and let your reputation take a little bit of a hit before you spend it so you are never forced into an unoptimal situation. I'm glad you enjoyed the game :D
Got it! I will try it once more keeping that in mind :)
Hey CodesNorth, really fun idea! I love the text2speech kind of voicelines narrating the characters, it fits the artstyle and gives it a comedic feel like west of loathing kind of vibes. The Dialogues are fun written and the results of the decisions are unexpected and fun :D
Good job!
This game is absolutely awesome! I loved the idea, it was really fun to play. The concept is great, and congratulations on the project! The art style feels unique and has a lot of potential, with time, it could evolve into something even more amazing. Keep up the great work; this game has a bright future!
It's great to hear you enjoyed the game. Thanks for sharing :)
Yoo I think I might be addicted to this LOL
Great game, I like the dialogue, very entertaining and funny to listen to
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed :D
You can spend more money than you have but otherwize, good game
I appreciate your review! To clarify, when you go into debt, you lose the game before the next turn starts. Thanks for playing :D
