Nice story-driven game concept!
It was fun to read and experience the background first and know what I was throwing into the fireplace 😅 Also good twist how the power suddenly came back on after all was burned 😅 That logo on the wall was a great touch of course ;-)!
The 3D visuals looked good, and the controls worked well. The game was simple to play and focused more on atmosphere and story than on a lot of action, which gave it the feel of an interactive narrative. Nothing wrong with that! The mood, vibe and ambiance came across clearly, helped by the SFX, voice acting, and audio.
Personally, I usually enjoy having a bit more to do in a game, but this kind of experience is nice once in a while. Especially so well implemented.
The theme was present—maybe it could even have been explored a bit deeper, but it was there...check!
All in all, a beautiful story and a solid jam entry. Nice job! 💪
Bugs: settings reset between acts. Easter egg movement speed is too fast because my particular setup leads to lag and moving while lagging is just very tough
Epic voice acting. Very rare to see that.
There were no noticable flaws with the game’s design.
Tiny random details could be added to improve the experience (such as player looking at the books to see what they are before burning them). Little polish like that goes a long way sometimes…
I agree with a lot of the stuff others said.
This is probably gonna end up in top 10!
hopefully it’s not based on a true story…
I could totally see this as a full game!
Thank you! I wish making a full game wouldn't take so much time though 😂
I love it
Thanks! :D
Just wow! If you continue and expand the game, it might be possible to upload it to Steam. The visuals, sound design, idea, and theme development are all top-notch. This is definitely one of the favorites at this jam. It's a pity that there weren't any animations when he was chopping objects to keep warm, but it's not necessary for the game. However, if you want to develop the game, I think this detail should be added
Thank you for your kind words :)
I wish I would've had the time to add more details like chopping animations or a burning animation for when the objects touch the fire. It will probably never become a fully fledged story game but I might update some minor details after the jam like adding animations, fixing the clipping subtitles - these kind of things
Great graphics, idea, vibe and execution. Reminded me a lot of The Long Dark, both theme wise and visually.
Interestingly I made a survival game and always saw The Long Dark as my biggest inspiration for that genre but I suppose my game is much closer to Stranded Deep.
Hey there and thank you! :D
The long dark was actually a major reference when it comes to the art style and atmosphere! Glad that you saw that.
This one really got to me. The house feels heavy, cold — not just from the snowstorm, but from the memories inside.
The concept of burning memories to survive is powerful and honestly a bit heartbreaking.
Visually it's simple but effective, and the music fits perfectly — quiet, emotional, slightly haunting.
Great atmosphere overall, and a really thoughtful take on the theme!
Thank you so much!
I tried to focus a lot on the atmosphere so I'm glad that you could really see and feel that :)
It was more than a game, an entire experience. Awesome work!
Thank you very much!
Very nice and lively game. The feeling of cold is well captured in the atmosphere. goedware game jam poster was pretty funny! If the overall UI is improved, this would be an awesome escape room game!
Thanks! I spent a lot of time trying to convey the feeling of cold so im glad that it worked for you! You're absolutely right on the UI :D
Beautiful work! I loved the idea of sentimental attachments to objects being the resources, and ultimately needing to part with them to stay alive, the shaders and visuals created a cozy atmosphere (also the fact you had a goedware game jam poster was a pretty nice touch) , the audio and voice acting is very well done, the only thing I think could use some work is the UI as I often had text overlapping making it hard to read but other than that, Very good game!
Hey there! Thanks for the feedback. The UI definitely would've needed some more attention. I didn't work a lot with UIs in Unity so it was hard for me to keep that polished feel over onto the UI
Very beautiful game, everything is amazing from the visuals to the sound and music, the theme of the jam is very present, I liked how you feel like you're in a short film and the duration is perfect for a jam, congratulations for your great game!!! P.S. (I Also liked the cookie easter egg)

Thank you so much for the kind words :)
A very good game jam entry and top contender as far as I'm concerned! The game reminded me of the We Were Here franchise ( Link ) , you should definitely check it out if you don't know it yet. Other feedback:
- I felt a bit rushed to burn things quickly to keep the fire warm, which I think prevents me from creating an emotional connection to the objects. Perhaps a slower start without feeling pressured could help.
- If you would develop this further or for future story based game, photo's or handwritten letters (not a computer font) might help to give more emotional depth.
-The music fits perfectly like you also mention in your devlog video. The AI voices also work very well. Your own voice is indeed not on the level of a professional voice actor but for a first time I think it worked out quite good. The audio quality of your voice is also good.
Overall a very well developed and polished game on multiple levels (sound, visuals, smooth gameplay)!
Also, great to see your engagement on Discord and here on Itch.io!
Hey there! Thank you for saying that, I really appreciate it! I saw We Were Here together before, but didn't really give it a thought, but your opinion has changed that.
> I felt a bit rushed to burn things quickly to keep the fire warm, which I think prevents me from creating an emotional connection to the objects. Perhaps a slower start without feeling pressured could help.
Absolutely! While there is no actual need to hurry up, the voicelines and visuals indicate the urgency and imply that there is a survival mechanic behind. If I were to remake this game this is definitely something I'd have to reconsider
The advice with the handwritten lore pieces is also very good! I actually didn't even think of that.
Thank you very much :)
Burning Memories is a beautiful and emotional experience. The music and especially the voiceover were standout elements—really well done and added a lot to the atmosphere. The visual presentation, the story, and the overall environment felt polished and immersive.
I really liked the concept of burning personal items tied to memories—it fits the “everything is a resource” theme in a powerful and emotional way. It’s not about complex mechanics but about reflection and choice, which makes it stand out from many typical jam games.
One small issue I faced was the movement sensitivity—it felt too fast and made navigation a bit difficult, even though the look sensitivity could be adjusted. If movement speed had a setting too, it would improve the overall experience.
Still, a very thoughtful and impactful game. Amazing work!
Thank you for taking your time for such an in depth feedback :) The idea with a movement sensitivity is amazing! I'd have love to take more time onto the menu and its options but the time was too tough. I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
Such a great game!! You implemented the theme in a really unique way and I loved the audio combined with the graphics! They created a really nice vibe and contributed to the story and gameplay!
Hey ~ Thank you for the feedback! It means a lot to us :D
Really loved the atmosphere and vibe of the game. Loved the story as well and very well designed. Overall a very solid game for a game jam. Awesome!!!
Thank you very much! :D
There are tons of graphical and auditory bells and whistles in this one- the occasional breath of cold air, the frostbite effect slowly fading in on the first act (And waiting to see if the cold does anything after a while, it doesnt 🥺), the voices on the radio having the typical radio static, getting rick rolled (lol) and the minecraft eating sfx breaking the mood (lmao). I also like the different take on resources, making the resources sentimental (and later on, incorporating that as a mechanic to debate breaking grandpa's stuff).
From a technical and artistic standpoint, the game is incredibly polished—visually stunning, with immersive sound design and clear attention to detail. That being said, as someone who tends to gravitate toward more gameplay-driven experiences, I did find that even with all the bells and whistles, the slower narrative progression just didn’t click with my personal tastes. Don't get me wrong- Fans of story-based games will likely find a lot to love here. As the game went towards completion, I found myself not really caring for the dialogue, just ready to finish the game. I think alluding to heavy lore involving the grandpa (like if you slowly started to discover if he was evil and throwing things into the fire would have different context across the experience or sum) would have made me more engaged with the storytelling, but then again, for what you were aiming for, you did wonderfully and I love the different take on the theme from what I have played so far. Just not my cup of tea (or maybe I had a diff experience since it ran on like 15 fps on my laptop💀 )
I can totally relate to your point of view. Usually I'm not a narrative/story based game player as well! Yet I wanted to challenge myself to create a visually interesting interactive story. Thank you for your feedback and also for finishing the game although it's not your cup of tea!
Mad respect for creating out of your comfort zone
My goodness, gracious that intro cutscene was an amazing introduction into the game. I did encounter a bug as soon as I pause the game after the intro cutscene ends, the game is paused but the character still talks during the pause state.
I'm amazed at the subtitles and the amount of work into making it properly functional.
I like how I can interact with certain objects and how a white stroke appears on that object, telling me to look at this/or interact with this. There was also a GoedWare Jam picture in the wall which was really impressive, little detail.
The camera controls are slightly iffy since sometimes I can't move the camera and other times, I can. The game also runs slower in the web version too.
Thank you! Yeah I've noticed now after the submittion that there are technical difficulties for some users :/ Thank you for playing it anyways! :D Next time i'll also put up a downloadable windows/linux and mac built
Wow. When I saw your upgrades in the discord server, I knew you would make a good game, but I didn't expect someone to be able to make a 3d game for a game jam so well done. Great job!
Thats very very nice to hear, thank you so much :)
I'm really impressed! The story is very immersive and dramatic! The voice acting and music are fantastic! You did a great job, especially considering you only had 10 days!
Thanks, Stealthix did almost everything, he took on a great amount of work, I am also impressed by what he did.
And I did the music, great you liked it!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so happy to hear that the voice acting and music landed well for you. It was definitely a challenge getting everything done in just 10 days, so hearing you say that means a lot! :D
I really like the vibe, the voice quality was also really good! One thing I would improve on is the setting's menu, it has the default unity look, if switched to custom art, it would make the game feel even more complete, even if players don't interact with it.
Great work on making this in 10 days :)
Thank you! And yes that's a really great point about the settings menu. It's one of those things that sadly got cut due to the 10-day time limit, but you're absolutely right that it would help the game feel more complete. I appreciate you pointing it out
