A truly unique and interesting concept—the ability to use emotions as a resource in a narrative-focused game is fantastic. I feel like you managed to convey a very distinct vibe through your game, and I say that based on the overall aesthetic—art, sound, and more.

It was a great move to list the bugs on your itch page. Unfortunately, with the limited time we get, it’s hard to polish things enough to avoid every issue (honestly, they always happen—we just try our best to hide them hahaha). I hope that didn’t discourage you, because you really did a great job.

The browser version was indeed a bit hard to play, as you yourself pointed out. Maybe scaling the resolution to a standard like 16:9 would help—it works well with most modern monitors and would probably solve that particular issue.

I love narrative games, and yours managed to keep me engaged. The option to choose different dialogues made everything feel more interesting and alive. The atmosphere is genuinely eerie, and you captured that well in all aspects of the game.

Congratulations on the project, and I wish you success in the jam and in your future games!

Only thing that pisses me off is that bug that occures after environment shift, this bug is preventing everyone from finishing the game so i listed it on the top of the page. But anyway, so glad to hear that you felt the game as i wanted and kept you engaged, that itself is a success for me to deliver the experience i aimed for. So thankyou for your time playing my game. :)

Everything is definitely a resource when you're consistently getting certain emotions and feelings from other people and using them to progress through the game. The dialogue system is really interesting since not only I can interact with them by conversation but also I can make dialogue choices.

The game's art is very well done, including the art for the different rooms. I reached the terrifying area with 2 red eyes and I couldn't move so I assume that's probably the ending. Other than that, this game looks to be solid so far.

Developer(+1)

No thats not the ending. This is a bug and i have mentioned this one on really top of my itch page & given the solution. The solution is you dont start Nyra's third dialogue option and close the conversation after the 2nd dialogue option then you will be able to move in that area. You can try again if you want to complete as you can quickly skip dialogues just by clicking. Other than that hope you enjoyed the game and its spooky vibe. Thanks for your time. :)

This game has a nice stylish look, and the idea of using emotions as resources is both unique and well executed. The spooky vibe is strong, and the story really pulls you in.

The browser version didn’t always run smoothly for me, but thanks to comments from others, I managed to continue.

A solid and well-thought-out jam entry—great job! 👻💪

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked the idea & felt the vibe i aimed for.  Hope you enjoyed it. And thanks for organizing the jam. :)

Awesome!

I like the vibe but I got stuck after picking up the blue rabbit. I couldn't interact with the door anymore where the girl is that asked for it. Maybe this was intentional and the blue rabbit is supposed to represent the girl behind the door but I wasn't too sure. I also had the issue where dialogue with certain characters always stayed white, but I couldn't interact with them again. So I wasn't sure if I was running into a bug, or if this was intentional and I'm missing a dialogue option.

I think maybe some guidance or hint with items could be helpful for the player who get stuck (or having a walkthrough) so that I can see everything because I do think you've got a interesting aesthetic going on and I would've loved to finish the game.

Developer (1 edit)

You should be able to interact the gate and enter after you get the blue rabbit. And dont know how this dialogue bug happened with you. Never faced these bugs, i have played the game multiple times. This might be an issue with the browser version, try downloading and play and see if the bugs still persists and let me know. Also you can check the gameplay video in the comments someone played, at the end there is bug and for that i mentioned the solution at the top of itch page, this will help. Thankyou for your time. :)

The concept is brilliant, using emotions as resource! The story is well written and the artstyle is pretty nice. I enjoyed playing this game, awesome work :D

Developer

Thankyou for playing! Glad you enjoyed the gameplay :)

Wow... that was exhilerating! I usually dont play narrative driven games much, and i was a bit hesitant at first, but this was seriously a great experience! The story and concept was amazing, and it fit the theme beautifully. Each dialogue was well written. But more than that i loved how engaging the whole experience was and kept me hooked right till the end, its actually very difficult to pull off such a hard hitting story in such a short gameplay loop but you did that wonderfully. Apart from that the music and the artstyle built up the creepy, chilling atmosphere! Great job :)

Developer

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the gameplay as i expected it to be. Thankyou for playing!! :)

Neomi walk animation is so smooth and clever use of the the theme makes for a promising premise. I like the story and It could be interesting to explore different rooms/regions based on the unique dialogue choices.

Developer

Yes! Totally agreed... The only reason i could say is time. I hope you enjoyed the gameplay :)

I can't use items. Even if I drag the key very slowly, my cursor still gets so far ahead that it is up against the side of the screen while the key is too far away to even touch the slot.

Submitted(+1)

I had that problem too, don't try to put the item graphic directly in the key hole, just drag it and line your mouse up to the hole then release

Submitted(+1)

Okay. Thanks!

Developer

Yes, it happens only in small window. Play in full screen it works perfectly.

I had the same issue in and out of full screen. I'm wondering if it is a screen size issue since my screen is about 1300x768 pixels.

Developer(+1)

Yes! That might be the reason.... then you can just release the cursor at the slot instead of trying to bring the object itself. It will work.

Submitted

Just finished, thanks. You did a good job with the game's atmosphere. I'm wagering there is only the one ending?

Developer(+1)

Yes there is only one ending.... I had planned more gameplay with multiple endings but unfortunately had to cut down gameplay because of time constraints. Hope you enjoyed it :)

I loved it! The concept of using emotions as a resource is incredibly unique and powerful. The art style and environments perfectly match the theme, creating an immersive and emotional atmosphere that truly draws you in. It's such a creative and meaningful experience. This is definitely a project that has the potential to become a full-fledged game in the future. Keep up the amazing work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I actually made this game not just for jam but with the intention of expanding it later. Hope you enjoyed the creepy vibe of the game!!

Nice game, interesting and with its style, great work!

Only thing, I have a bug to report: when you drag and drop the key, the sprite does not follow the mouse, but for the rest,  a really well done and polished game :)

Developer

Yes! this actually happens only when you play in the small window in browser, in that case release the mouse cursor at the spot you want to drag the object or just play the game on full screen, object will follow the cursor perfectly.

This is a cool, atmospheric entry, but it gets bogged down by bugs.

The graphics and sound work well, to create heavy atmosphere. Especially the character design, and the fact that there is just not enough light in any of those rooms. I also liked the usage of emotions as resources. Although maybe it's not so much "everything is a resource", it's an original concept.

The problem is there is a bug, that manifests itself when sometimes I can't choose any dialogue option. Sice you need it to progress, even though I restarted the game twice I wasn't able to finish it. It's a pity, because I liked the atmosphere.

ALSO! I only now realized that you are the creator of Mylo! In that case- kudos for going in a completely different direction with this game!

Developer (1 edit)

Yes i have been studying psychological horror point & click games so i decided to make one. This is my first time making this type of game.

Regarding your bug report, i have played it myself multiple times but never faced this issue that you can't chose a dialogue but there is a critical bug that i have already mentioned in the itch page on the top. Give it another try by downloading the game as there are some issues with browser version :)

Cool entry! I love the spooky vibe and atmosphere, and it can be really tricky to perfect this feeling, but I think you captured an eerie and spooky vibe with this.

The art and animations were great, and combined with the sound effects and music, were a highlight of the gameplay for me. The animations were smooth and logical, and the art was consistent and had a very unique style to it.

The music was a perfect choice... spooky!

I think the theme could have been captured a little better in the core gameplay, as the only "resource" was the emotions, and it didn't quite encapsulate that "everything" aspect.

I also encountered some minor bugs and visual issues while playing, but I understand it can be hard to fix everything in the short time of the game jam period.

A gripping and emotional experience! Great gameplay and overall, a very solid entry. Well done :D

Developer

Thankyou for playing! My initial gameplay idea actually involved much more than it has right now but due to time constraints i had to cut down the gameplay to complete it. So i understand. I hope you enjoyed the spooky vibe.

I like the story and theme of the game,  and, aside from a few bugs and other oversights, I'd say there's nothing really bad about it.  Good work!
