Scene was set well with nice polish to the visuals and good audio and sound effects. The point I had a hard time with was that aliens from past levels did not seem to leave the pods. Remembering where the new aliens was was one thing, but also remembering aliens from past levels made it way more complicated. If aliens left the old pods between levels (or at least if most of them left) it would be a lot easier to remember which pods still had old aliens along with the new ones.
You are right! The aliens stay in the pods making it more difficult each round. If they left the pods, then eventually you would have 30 pods on screen and only 3 aliens hiding. Maybe that would be too easy? I'm not sure. Or more aliens could run on screen each round, but maybe then that would be hard to track them.
Depends. If there's 30 on screen, just remembering which ones have aliens might be a challenge in itself. Maybe I should try it a few more times and see if I can master it, though if I recall correctly, the average person can only remember 7 things at once. Do want to say I enjoyed getting to relax with a nice puzzle game after playing so many fast paced ones.
The pixel art is so cute, nice short memory game!
I managed to find a bug, you can click as many times as you like on the energy pot to increase enerrgy. I got 12720 energy by using that bug.
I was wondering if anyone would find that, good job! Haha I discovered it after the deadline so I couldn't do anything about it
General:
The core gameplay is simple, but it works well. Unfortunately, memory games are absolutely not my strength, but I still tried this one several times! I liked the retro layout and the clearly separated gameplay phases. The fact that I could place the pods myself elevated the game a lot, since it added a strategic layer. However, my inner perfectionist didn’t like that I wasn’t allowed to place the pods evenly.
Graphics:
Simple and kept in a 1.5-bit style, but easy to read.
Music:
Stylistically fitting and supports the game well.
Theme:
It may not be a “room” in the strict sense, but it is a confined area, and everything takes place within that space. So in that regard, the theme is fulfilled.
Conclusion:
A well-made memory game with a retro look!
Nice and short memory game. At first, I didn’t fully understand what I was supposed to do, so a bit more instruction would be helpful. Still, it was fun — good job!
I felt pretty stupid at first—I thought you had to click the room the alien was hiding in, but later I realised the text actually says to click the empty rooms instead.
It’s a nice and simple game: click the rooms the aliens aren’t in, but you have to remember where they’re hiding. I really like that you can place the new rooms yourself. You can space them out early on to keep track of everything, but once the grid fills up, it basically turns into Minesweeper.
It’s a very nice short and quick game, especially considering it was made in around 8 hours.
Very well done sgtwombatstudios!
This one is a simple memory game with some animation and economy put together. While the game could've been better fitted to the scope of this jam, it's not really off. I just wish that there was more to this game than a simple loop. It did get repetitive pretty fast for me.
Cool, simple, little arcade memory game. Graphics and sounds are super charming. Gameplay was tightly put together. I don't really have any major complaints. Smaller scope is better for a jam entry but maybe this was slightly too small? It's a fun idea but didn't feel compelled to play beyond two or three waves.
Nice arcade game with nice graphics but cant not do anything.
Thanks for checking it out! So you are having problems doing something in the game? At first, you can click the doors, and then the Collect button. Afterwards, you click on the spinning objects. The instructions will tell you what to do every step of the way.
This game was a fun memory game, but it quickly gets difficult to remember where the aliens are. The art was nice to look at. It is simple but effective! A little more variety would be good to see, rather than just remembering the same doors.
Great job on the game overall!
cute memory game, could be cool to have alien variations. but since it is also one bit then i guess it is harder to do. nice job
Love this. Feels like a classic memory/minesweeper type game, and with this unique idea and art style its quite fun! The loop is easy to understand and rewarding. Minor nit pick: the font is really hard to read haha. 8.5/10!
