Nice verrent from arcade game.
Very fun game! original and respectant of the theme. my only critique may be excessive randomness of the pieces, i would suggest (if you haven't already) using a bag randomization, like tetris. Audio is perfect and the art style is good though it could use a bit of extra polish (It's never enough ;))
Very good job. π―π―
Great idea about the bag randomizer! Right now it's using a weighted random where the lower valued pieces have much higher weights than the higher, but I can definitely see the value in switching that up. Thanks for the feedback!
1830 score - I'm not very good at planning ahead it seems. π I do love puzzle and strategy games! I played it a couple of times too! This was an excellent choice for the jam that's very entertaining! Good job, Colnnor! β€οΈ
Pretty nice game, when I played I couldn't figure if I was playing a Microsoft Puzzle game.....Overall nice game
Please rate/play my game if you won't be annoyed by it....
Though I'd be grateful if you do play and rate it since you doing so will support my game a lot and will help in releasing my game's demo.
Really beautifully made game.. so simple but very relaxing to play and also fun! I love the little animations you had put in and the accompanying sound effects right from the start from the menu screen buttons! The audio track was also the perfect fit.
The gameplay itself was well executed.. it was a casual sort of match 3 game, but given the space constraints became more of a puzzle game especially at the smaller sizes. The theme integration was on point! The color palette was pleasing and what really made it pop was the subtle effects like the pulsing of the shapes and even the highlights on hovering of the mouse.. nothing in itself stood out, but the overall impact was great!
Cant think of any suggestions to improve this honestly.. great work, congrats!
Very charming and thoughtful puzzle game with lovely visuals, relaxing audio, and a strong connection to the limited space theme. The core concept is clear and very enjoyable! I really like your game and can imagine it would be a nice one to fully release! This is what I thought:
Game play / Fun / Engagement βββββ
The core idea is excellent and becomes clear quickly once you start playing. I really liked the freedom of placing tiles while still having to carefully consider limited space, which makes the game play all about strategic thinking. A more detailed βHow toβ page or a proper introductory level would improve the first impression, but overall the loop is engaging and rewarding. Solid 5 out of 5.
Art Style / Visuals βββββ
The art concept is lovely, and the design feels polished and enjoyable. I liked how the given shapes were incorporated, and the text style along with the small animated UI elements fit perfectly. However, thepresentation of the combinations donβt quite match the visual style, and the βpyramidβ arrow looks more like a simple triangle... These small issues make me subtract one point, so I rate visuals 4 out of 5.
Audio / Sound Design βββββ
The audio is very well done. The calm music fits the mood of this type of puzzle game perfectly, and the simple SFX blend in nicely without distracting. This earns a full 5 out of 5.
Theme βββββ
The theme of βlimited spaceβ is used excellently here. You constantly need to think about how and where to place tiles, making space management the heart of the game. Itβs a perfect fit for the theme, so this category gets 5 out of 5.
2260 points in my last game!
The key to this jam's theme is answering the question "does this game have limited space, and does it affect gameplay in an interesting way". There are quite a few games here that do that, but I think your is the only one that makes you think of space from the first action you take. You never stop thinking about space, and you consider every move.
The presentation is great- shaders are subtle, muted colors and calm music perfectly fit the atmosphere. The sound effects, when you put the pieces POP just right :) Looking at the screenshots, I think that maybe the pieces' green could be of a different shade than board green, but that's not rally an issue.
As for the gameplay? Awesome! I played several rounds, then I was about to finish and write this review, my son noticed me playing, so we played a couple more together.
You can tell that I loved this game. The only thing I would add are the online leaderboards. If there were other player's scores to beat, I wouldn't be writing this now, but still playing :)
Okay this is very very clever, excellent use of the theme and the shapes. Merge games naturally fit the "limited space" theme perfectly - but I thought there were too few shapes for it to work! I was proven wrong π
Unfortunately I suck at planning ahead, but I could see my self playing this over and over again. Visually it is super polished and really satisfying to work with - my one complaint would be the black and white colours are too intense compared to the rest of the game!
This game feels so polished and properly made. The UI is absolutely incredible and fits the game really well. The soundtrack playing gives me exactly the island feel, which is what the tiles represent (to me).
I do have a question, is the game quality worse on the Web build compared to your Unity view? as the screenshots have a clear outline and the quality just seems a tiny bit off on this web version. (Mainly the outlines seem pixelated).
Thanks for the feedback!
I took the screenshots in full screen mode which seems to look better than windowed. I set the window resolution to 720 because I was having some weird scaling issues on itch.
Sorry about that!
This game was really fun and looks extremely clean! it fits the theme very well, i could definitely feel my space getting more and more limited every move! i loved the merge transition, and the music fit nicely. the only minor thing id say is to make the green shape a slightly different shade as it blends in, but thats a small thing. please dev let me move one shape! ahha gg
Thanks for the feedback! I agree with the green - I had actually planned on making a color blind mode too, but didnβt get to it
Really fun game, The sound design is very nice. Best i got was 1570 on 4x4.
Nice work, the arts and music and controls are amazing
Nice job! This game reminded me of 2048, only harder. Definitely requires a lot of strategic thinking. I liked the art and calming music.
