I like the arstyle and mechanics of the game.
I would recommend having visual and audio feedback of your actions, maybe a color change when the attack is succesful, sounds for sneaking or stealing,
The music and art result in a atmospheric game and the character sprites have a lot of personality. It might just be because I am a rogue main in WoW, but managed to beat the game on my first try because I successfully stole like 7 out of 8 times haha.
Very original and well made game! First of all I loved the horror mood and the narrative. The roleplay/tabletop mechanics are really cool and I also liked the progression (with items, and enemies) very much! Could use manual dialogue progression, sometimes I couldn't read lines in time. Great job!
Very cool experience! I liked the writing a whole lot, I just wish the text wouldn't auto-advance, as sometimes I couldn't manage to read it all in time. It was an enjoyable adventure, I wished it had sound effects. The music was very good and I liked the art and atmosphere.
Good stuff! Well done!
I love the DnD style combat. I one shot the butcher and was thinking this is a bit too easy, needs a bit balancing and then the Jailor one shot me 😆 The only thing I would recommend is changing the hallway a bit after combat because at the start it felt like that was going to be the whole game in one room and I almost gave up. Glad I didn't though. Very good job 😀 The art style was really good too. 🙌 Oh and maybe just a dice animation on each combat choice would be nice to see. 🎲
I love these kind of games and this was really well executed, really cool art style. Well done!
I love the atmosphere, background music and the storybuilding. The art style reminds me of old games I used to play on the internet as a kid. I think the idea is solid but there isn't much variety in the gameplay. If you added more to the gameplay (exploring rooms, breaks between fights, animations and sound effects, more options to the choices), it could be a really good game. The direction you are going is strong.
Also, the colors might make it a bit hard to read so a different text color would be great. Good luck in the jam :)
Thank you for the feedback! I might continue this project once the rating period is over. Thank you!
Highly atmospheric turn-based game. I liked the MS paint art... very quirky & charming. Also, props for using Godot engine! Let's go team Godot! Give my game a spin if you want to see Godot used a different way - cheers!
A fun turn based game. The color palette was a tad red but I suppose it helped sell the haunting atmosphere. Cool monster designs!
Great job! Really loved the art, music, and just the overall dark vibe! All that definitely helped to tell/sell the story.
The art and music combined for a really foreboding atmosphere, added more tension to the fights. Got really lucky with stealing on my winning run, to the point where my unarmed strike was 1d16.
Really dark and menacing vibes, good job building the atmosphere!
The stealing feature made me overpowered and let me escape from the prison rather than fight this weird demonic 50hp guy, Amazing game :D
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
I wanted to make stealing with magikarp power. The more you do it, the better you get at doing it. ^_^
Really enjoyed this one! The turn-based gameplay is great, and the enemy designs are awesome. Also love that you can steal cookies
This was dark kind of very fun!
Haunting music. Cool monsters. I looted cookies!
Issue: Black on red text is extremely hard to read--almost no contrast.
Thank you for your feedback! I'll keep that in mind for the next one.
The monster design was great, and I enjoyed the overall vibe. Well done!
The horrifying monster design was super cool! Love the art style!!!
That music is intense lol, really sets the vibe. Liked the game! Also liked how you made it in Godot. Great job
The beast impaled the failed escapee into the wall and carved "escapee" on her belly. He didn't finish her of, no. A living decoration like that can do wonders on the minds of the next foolish souls who think escape from this place is possible. On one moment, steady and sure of themselves, on the next a panicking, stressed mess that is physically unable to even attempt further escape~
Phenomenal game! The RPG mechanics are top notch and the gory descriptions are very well written.
Lovely description! I absolutely love it. Thank you for checking it out! ^_^
Good job! A little too red for me, lol, but I really liked the theme and the music. Maybe with some sound effects during mob encounters, the immersion would have been even better.
