This was a nice Hotline Miami style game, I enjoyed it very much but here are some things that could be improved:
The camera movement is very jittery
Sometimes the execution button was not working and I either got killed from it or had to back off and re-enter the area that lets you execute on the enemies.
I think it would be more fun if the throw went a bit further.
But yes very nice little game I enjoyed saving my wife.
Had a lot of fun playing through this! Definitely wish it was longer and would love to see more weapons/enemies if you were to expand on it in the future. The combat feels very satisfying once you get the hang of it, great job!
Really cool game that captures the HM1 feel. Only gripe is the execution key being space took some getting used to. Basically had to come to a complete stop to execute enemies.
Hotline Miami re-imagined with cookies and rolling pins. Adorable. Really well executed, movements and combat are very snappy. It is very satisfying to hear the sound and cracking during the execution step.
Really fun game, the combat is polished in a way that always I died I could do speedrun mode cause the precise combat allows a great learning curve, so I was learning to get better at the game, good job in that aspect. The game is really challenging cause we get killed in only 1 hit, as the enemies do, I think it's fair. Well, congrats for your game.
Biscuit Miami! This is really nice, the gameplay is smooth, the game is a bit hard but still very manageable. Being a biscuit gives you only a single hit point but I guess that's the downside of being a biscuit. At least everyone is having a single hit point so that's fair. The level layout is decent and fun with the current gameplay. The music also pairs very well with the game too. Nice work!
For some criticism, the door is the thing that I have issues with the most. It sometimes does and sometimes does not let the enemies through, but yet seems never to let any melee and ranged attack through. Leading to situations where two enemies were stuck behind the door, and there is no way to attack them while 100% getting killed if you go past that door. Just let me break that damn thing for goodness' sake XD. I would also suggest that the player should have a fallen state that was recoverable (like mashing buttons or something). The enemies are doing that, so why the player character can not.
Anyway, I did enjoy this game a lot. Well done and keep up the good work!
Great work. The visuals and the along with the music really made me get into a flow. I think the colliders need a little work cause sometimes it was frustrating to be standing on a guard spamming space only for it to get up and kill me. Over all had fun.
Thanks for the feedback. It was caused by the way I detected the enemy underneath rather than the collisions. If I remake the game in the future, I'll definitely fix that. Enjoy the jam :)
Dang that was great, I had a fun time with it. The music and sound effects capture the Miami aspect very well. Managed to rescue Mrs Biscuit in the end. Solid gameplay overall.
A small complaint is that it is a bit odd in tight corner (level 2 right room and some area in warehouse) and it gets tricky to tell if some objects are objects or floors (also right room level 2 tables).
Thanks for the feedback :)
The corners' hitboxes are a bit bigger than they should be so that why it might feel weird. I was kinda lazy to put two hitboxes lol. I'll definitely try to make objects look more distinct next time.
It's a great game.
I love how the main character risks his life to rescue his wife.
The only downside is that the gameplay is a bit too much of a walking around punching bag. If there were other ways to approach the story, it might have made it more interesting.
Keep it up!
I agree on the downside, could have made it more interesting if I had more time. Thanks for the feedback :)
Nice game!
Throwing cookie hands! Nothing could be more fun.
This game made me laugh out loud. I felt immersed in my role as the cookie, and disgusted by the brutality of my actions. For some reason, crumbling cookies felt just as gruesome as the executions in Hotline Miami... Such a fun game! And by a fellow Godot dev no less - team Godot for life 🤝
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Lmao, I love it. Never played a Hotline Miama-like, but this was fun. The sounds for execution were also very crisp. Nice job!
Definitely check out Hotline Miami if you liked this game, thanks for playing :)
Pretty solid "Hotline Miami" like game! The sound, visual and movement make me no hesitate enter and punching all the cookies that steal my wife. IMO, separating the finisiher and attack is quite frustating because i always forgot to press space an get punched! Great game!
I totally feel that last sentence, I was mixing them up at the start as well XD.
Enjoy the jam.
Pretty good, I love the music
Thanks for playing :)
A fun hotline miami clone! Visuals were good and the music was good and the combat felt fluid and punchy. I do wish there was another weapon or that the enemies would throw their rolling pins, but still, very good entry, nice job!
That was the original plan but I couldn't make it in time unfortunately. I'm happy to hear that the rest was fun to play though.
Super fun! I've never played hotline miami so it was a treat to play. (hehe).
One thing I noticed is that there's no real difference between punching and using the rolling pin. Throwing wasn't as effective as just running up and punching them. So I eventually just haymakered my way through both levels lol. Also, the hitbox for killing an enemy was a bit finicky.
Great work overall!
Rolling pin has a bit more range but I might have made fists a bit too powerful lmao. About throwing, was the framerate low? I forgot to fix a bug which changes the throw distance depending on the framerate.
If you liked it, I definitely recommend hotline miami 1. Such a great game. Thanks for the review :)
Frame rate was good. Don't sweat it, there are some bugs in my game I couldn't crack lol.
I'll check the game out. This was already a fun experience haha.
The music is pretty epic and the story also!
Maybe consider adding checkpoints or something like that, because there were areas where it was very difficult, and one mistake means a total redo. Unless that was what you were going for.
Nonetheless a good game!
Honestly, the level designs were a bit rushed due to irl time constrains. I will definitely implement checkpoints or something along those lines to soften up the difficulty (if I continue working on it). Thanks for the comment :)
Nice spin on Hotline Miami! Enjoyed it!
Happy to hear that :)
White oreo? Hell yeah, with two fists to stop those mobs! Had great experience whith a matching graphic style and music. I like the displayed text suits the game. The combat felt well thought yet, felt like it was not much to learn about it after the few minutes when most relevant thing is to find the right distance where you can hit and enemies cannot.
I was planning on adding variety to the gameplay but I sadly didn't have the time. Thanks for playing it though :)
