Kitsune transformation into a nine tail fox and easter egg dragon.

Developer

Did anyone see that you can transform into a nine-tailed fox and summon a dragon?

If the boss "Musashi Myamoto" kills you, you'll float into the air, shaking, transform into a fox monster and nine tails will appear one by one, with flames on the tips of each tail that stay there (like a charmander).

If you knock Musashi or his corpse off the side of the cliff, a dragon will appear and roar.

I really like the cutscene at starting and the game play is also fun. Well done. Hope you will make more games in future.

Please try my game also:

I liked the story and the voiceover at the intro cutscene. The gameplay felt iffy to me, however. The slash attacks allow the player to clip through the walls, which I used to cheese the cave section of the game. The platform hitboxes were also jank in the cave section as well, so I had a bit of a hard time navigating the level. Lastly, after I defeated the samurai boss, I jumped off the bottomless pit at the end, and...won?

This was still a nice jam submission IMO.

Great job on the story bro!

If you could take a look at my game too it would mean a lot :)

I really liked the story at the beginning (the narration makes it feel like I’m in a YouTube video)

I really enjoyed your storyline, you put a lot of thought into it

🌟 Thrilled to review!

The concept truly sparkles; Story and voiceover make the game wonderfully engaging.

Excited to see how the magic evolves with future updates.

✨ Wishing you all the success ahead! 🌱

Good job on the effort you put into this!

For feedback, try to avoid mixing too many assets that don’t match. it can give the game a “low effort” vibe even if the idea is good. I also appreciate the voice acting, but be mindful of the player experience: some people just want to play and may not care about the story, so adding a skip option would help a lot.

And for a platformer, checkpoints are really important. Going back to stage 1 after dying in stage 2 feels too punishing and makes the game harder than it needs to be.

Overall, solid effort keep improving!

Developer

Thank you not only for the great, specific feedback, but also for the direct, straightforward and emotionally neutral way it was stated. I agree completely with the things you pointed out and will do better going forward.

Thanks for playing!

Have a nice day!

Your story telling skills are top level. It was amazing. It gave depth to the game. The whole story with inspiration from anime is superb. Also I love how you secretly added a path if we go backwards instead of forward. Wonderful! The music was also lovely.

Ok well this is all over the place. You said you wanted feedback on how to improve so I'll break it down honestly as long as you're willing to be receptive to it.
First of all despite giving off vibes of the forsaken WiiU game Meme Run, I can tell that there was an odd amount of effort into this,  which is commendable and is the only reason I'm bothering to be comprehensive on it.

First of all it's always good to credit all the sources of art, music, and sound you use.  It's a good habit to have for good developers.
ART:  The art is completely random and lacks any cohesion. Using art assets is fine, and it might benefit you more in the future to either find ONE fully featured art pack you want to use or find art packs with similar artstyles that can be used together.

SOUND: The mixing on the sounds are all over the place and the coin sound especially if quite grating on the ear. The game over screen music also sounds like it has Modified Gain to make it more loud and annoying.

Gameplay: Platforming feel is something that having people test your game can help you with. I think these are the default values for the Platformer behavior and it doesn't feel great to control, especially the jumping. The gravity and fall speed it much to high for the lack of control you have in the air.
The boss fight is pretty cool, I can tell you put a lot of effort into it.

The story intro is good too, but again, the random art from random places becomes pretty distracting.

I can tell you have the drive to make stuff that is good and I believe if you keep at it, you can make great things in the future! Cheers!

Developer

Thank you for your honest and insightful feedback. I really liked how specific you got and all the things you commented on. I agree with you completely on the lack of cohesion in my art direction and the platforming definitely should be tweaked. I'll make sure to keep those things in mind for future games.

Thanks for playing, I'll try your game soon, but I'm on the phone atm.

Oh I forgot one more big thing! The control layout. Reallllly awkward and unnatural for the fingers. WASD JKL for me in natural for right-handed controls and Arrow Keys ZXC for left-handed people

Developer

Ok, i'll keep that in mind.

The game is good, the story is good, and the death screen song made me laugh. I struggled a bit with the parkour in the first level, but I eventually did it! However, I had an issue in the ogre mountain: the attack pushed me through a wall and I fell into the void without dying.

Developer

I'm sorry, I was aware of this during development and hoped it wouldn't be too big of an issue during the jam. I know a published game with this problem would do horribly. Thank you for playing the game and your positive feedback. I hope you'll give it another try and aim for a high score on the leaderboard (It's based on number of coins).

The screenshot is awesome. Love your art.

Was this some kind of joke game?

After seeing the explanation with stock iamges and the game over screen I m convinced this is some kind of ironic joke I'm not getting.

Developer

Yes, it is a joke game. Thanks for spoiling it for others.

I just randomly pressed keys on the keyboard for 7 days to make it and this is what popped out.

Hope the joke was as funny for you as it was for me. If you're not on the leaderboard, please don't comment any more.

If you are on the leaderboard, you're an expert on this game and I default to your judgement.

The story is rlly nice and cool but you could improve the gameplay in the future:) I like the Artstyle and your grafics.

I gave you a nice rating and would be very happy if you could test and rate my game too:)

The cherry tree was amazing but the rest was all over the place unfortunately. I did like the story and what you were going for.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, I agree. I'll aim for a more cohesive experience in the future.
