I think this is a good platform for a puzzle game.
Good job
Interesting concept!
I really enjoyed the thought-process behind this game!
Well done making all the puzzles! :D
I like the puzzles! You really have to think ahead, which made it really challenging and fun
Overall nicely done and is a great puzzle game! I do feel like character control was a bit off though. Some jumps straight up looked very doable but just couldn't work while you could jump miles in the horizontal direction.
Simple mechanic but the puzzles had surprising depth. Probably the one of the few room looping games that doesn’t feel like the looping mechanic was just thrown in. I think the platforming controls could feel better, and like someone else said, grid snapping would be really helpful. There is also a lack of general polish. The core game though is fun, so great job!
Really enjoyed the puzzle! I like that you can easily create a lot of interesting levels with those mechanics!
Really fun to play — I really liked the core concept and the puzzles! The controls could use a bit of improvement, but overall it was a great experience.
The puzzles ramped up in difficulty nicely, especially when the characters started getting more than one go each--it forces you to think two or more steps ahead at times. And every time I made a mistake, it usually felt like it was my own fault. However there were some times where I placed a block just a pixel too low, preventing the next character from walking under it, and the characters sometimes move too quickly to make minute adjustments to block placement. A grid snapping system and tweaks to character movement would go a long way to help make the gameplay more consistent. But still, I really enjoyed playing through all of it!
Don't you hate it when people suggest something you thought of but decided against implementing? I had the exact thought on a grid-snapping system but opted against it for time reasons. Definitely good to know it would be appreciated!
Thanks so much for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Blue... damn blue... always the problem child!
Every time I think a puzzle is easy, or that I've finally solved it, the blue agent ruins my day.
XD
Good job!
This are the trickiest puzzles I've played in the jam so far.
The other puzzle platformers that I've seen mostly rely more on the platforming (sometimes broken) as the challenge, rather than the puzzle.
This is the first one where I had to reset multiple times because I actually got the puzzle wrong, instead of just tanking the platforming part.
(Although I did get stuck at least once because I misjudged the platforming when placing blocks - could we possibly have some more forgiveness using things like Coyote time?)
I'm so glad you liked it!
We have a tiny bit of coyote time (3 frames), but definitely seems like we could do with a little bit more forgiveness! To your point, the goal was puzzle first, the platforming is just the constraint. I'm really glad you appreciate that choice!
Awesome idea! I really like the puzzle mechanic of having to think 200 steps ahead and it makes for some good levels! However, I found the movement/feel of the platformer is off-putting. Great game!!
Really cool concept and some very well designed puzzles, I had a lot of fun playing this. My one nitpick is that it would have been nice to be able to reset back to the last color instead of to the start but overall really good submission!
I like this a lot! It’s kind of like Fireboy and Watergirl except it’s one character at a time. The concept is quite clever, and the puzzle were quite challenging (in a good way).
Man, do I love the game. The concept is crazy good. The level design is great; it actually makes you feel like you can finish the level in multiple ways, even though sometimes you can’t, but that feeling of freedom and trial and error is great. The combination of fast‑paced and strategy gameplay is great. My only comment would be on the controls. They feel a bit floaty, and more work on that would actually enhance the game feel and make it feel more polished. Great work.
Wow, I ran over to my wife to show her your comment :)
Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it!
I had some of the same feelings about the controls, I know they could be finnicky at times (can you believe they were worse at one point?), but of course game jam problems lol That's probably one of the first things we'll look if/when we try to expand on this.
Thanks again :)
I really enjoyed it. Good luck! I’d be happy to see more of this game and your future ones.
This is such a creative and well-executed concept! I really enjoyed the color-based puzzle mechanics, they added a great layer of complexity. Great work, and I'd love to see where this goes post-jam!! 🙌
This is a super creative idea! one of the most creative I've seen so far. This was executed really well, the whole experience was quite cohesive. I only have a few notes that are mostly nitpicks. I think there's room for some good user experience improvement, specifically the option of restarting only the current color, not the whole level. A majority of the time I was stuck in need of a restart, it would've been fine with just restarting the color I was on. I was also super impressed with how many levels y'all were able to design, I got pretty far but eventually I ran out of time so I wasn't able to finish them all. If I had known how many levels were left that might have helped me push through to the end. Aside from those few small nitpiks this is a fantastic game! I had fun with it. Keep up the good work, it's cool to see a husband and wife duo, y'all rock!
I had that exact idea on the color-only reset! Ahh, Game Jam pressures...
I'm so glad to see you liked it though, thanks for checking it out!
A interesting puzzle idea for your game, the use of other agents and helping their buddies out was a fun idea. while I did enjoy it at times it felt to easy or well maybe something more variety to them could help with the game loop.
It's actually really funny you say too easy, because I have gotten multiple comments that it's really hard
Puzzle balance is unforgiving lmao
Very neat concept! Was confused at first but quickly hit the “aha!” point 😄
very interesting and lovely puzzle game. very much vibes as fireboy and watergirl. nice idea
Creative premise!
nice really liked the puzzles and dificulty progression, the players were a bit hard to controll at the begining cause of speed but i used to it after several levels, overall i enjoyed the game good job my friend
Glad you liked it! Yeah, if I continue it into the future, first thing I'll do is tweak movement and placement, I was worried if I touched speed too late in the game all my puzzles would fall apart lol
